VANLIFE in the Extreme COLD
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.ย. 2024
- Surviving in self built Ford Transit campervan as I’ve finally found some extreme snow camping temperatures below -30c in the far north of the Nordic Winter. On the drive I hit below -30c for the first time with was so cold the engine starting to freeze and loose temperature. So much so I could use the heater. But after the Grille cover was on the Van’s Cabin was warm again. The Hab part of my van / home is heated with a Chinese Diesel heater. I make my way from Kiruna in Sweden over to Finland and get to see the Northern Lights and a Moose.
For those interested The “Thermal” in a @PulsarVision Axion 2 XG35. Which I have obtained the appropriate export licenses required from the UK government to take it out of the UK.

There's nothing wrong with putting engine cover on at -10 around. Much, much better for the engine, economy. Just give it a try. 19 Winters in the Norwegian North. Kind regards and save travels. Stefan🇩🇪
I’ve keep it’s on for the last few weeks now.
The reason I say -20 or -25 in the video is I have a digital temperature gauge on my dashboard, which gives me the live number read out and I noticed getting towards -20 is when I see abnormality over normal engine temp. But you are correct. Nothing wrong putting on at -10. The engine isnt going to overheat
@@MispronouncedAdventures I like this device pretty much smart thing. Like in the last Video real coolant temp. Just building a 5t 4x4 Sprinter emergency ambulance🚑. Bad thing no info about the engine ect at all, first you get information if it is to late in my eyes. PS. Don't give your spare heater away, can be life saving. Save travels
@@MispronouncedAdventures Engine is built to run when temp is spot on (gauge middle position).
Thermostat in engine is suppose to keep engine in optimal temp.
During winter a piece of carbon can block air (some or all) before coolant. Just keep temp gauge in normal position.
@@p20071 yes that is true and I know, but engine thermostats can’t always keep engines are optimal running temperature when driving below -20c ( in Mk8 transit at least ) which is why I use a grill cover. As too many other vehicles up here.

At 63, I thought I'd seen it all but, light pillars are new to me!
Light pillar are beautiful! I love seeming them.
They were beautiful.
I had to drive to Flint, Michigan once to get my son. It was 30 below zero. My car was a 87 Dodge diplomat. With no thermostat.!!!!!
That sounds like it was a chilly drive for everyone!
One of the best extreme cold camping videos that I have come across yet. I really enjoy your content style and the background music is truly top notch. I look forward to following your adventures. Cheers from the US.
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoyed my style of content. I’m just about to leave for my third winter season!
The beauty of solitude while driving in a cold, snowy environment is wonderful!
One of the reasons I love the Arctic!
Love that you still make a turn signal with possibly no one within 25km. Old habits! Great video. Thanks.
Haha true, last winter when I got hit by the storm which threw the van across the car park, and I was escaping for my life I still manage to indicate 😂
When Christmas and New Year are over we have Alex's arctic travels to look forward to. Highlight of the winter.
😊 indeed, I’m already starting to feel the temptation of year three up here
@@MispronouncedAdventures Yes please.
This is my first video from you. OMG, what a great journey, aminals, and enjoy the northern lights. 😊 what is great person to share with friends. From USA 🇺🇸 Miles 🐶 and Karen 😊
Well, hope you enjoy! There’s two whole seasons of Arctic content and I’m getting ready in two months time to start filming the third
Thanks for another great episode Alex. Had no idea the light towers existed, so I’ve learnt something new today. Until next time, all the best and stay safe.
Yeah, light pillar are a pretty cool atmospheric trick . They’re really cool when you get them over cities or towns because then you have hundreds of pillars
I used to drive Diesel Engine Buses in minus -30C in Northen Québec and the engine heaters which were build in are extremely helpful, in the Arctic in Nunavut the diesel engines of trucks, buses and heavy equipment using Arctic diesel never stopped, they ran 24/7 as we had constant 12hrs shifts and always let the engines run, also we were never allowed to put the breaks on as we used wooden blocks to immobilise the wheels, this was for the Baffinland Iron Ore compagny in Nunavut, Baffinland Iron Ore has the longest road in Nunavut, a 100km stretch which runs from Mary River to Milne Port on the Coast were during summer the vessels are loaded with the crushed Ore.
Engine pre heaters are great! I’m not surprised on heavy equipment to might just keep them running all the time!
I absolutely loved the foggy drone shots that you shot in the morning , so haunting , desolate ,beautifull and great choice of music. The cinematography is stunning , some of your finestvwork to date! Best Aron from Wales
Thank you very much I am definitely enjoying the new drone on this trip. Foggy shots are particularly difficult as it causes the blades to ice over pretty quick.
kiff episode, just shows how much prep goes into these expeditions, like absorbing so much. Although I would need to be a lot more nerdy to undertake a trip like this solo. But there is something about these types of trips, challenging, problem solving and literally if you aint prepared your trip is ruined. Just love all your gadgets in the van. Have fun with Katie!
Definitely lots of preparation required for these trips just to be able to be safe and comfortable up here in a van
Great video - what an adventure with so much livestock. Got to admit, jealous of all your kit and preparedness - having the right stuff makes life so much easier. Now going back through your videos for all of the van build bits!
Yeah it’s an adventure for sure! Lots admin and van prep and kit need to be comfortable up here
don't worry until its -50, cheers from northern Norway
Wouldn’t mind to try and find the cold. Coldest I got last winter ( the winter after this video ) was -38. Think coldest last winter overall was around -43 in the first week or January.
What abouts would you recommend? My goal for the last 2 winter season has been to find -40c
@@MispronouncedAdventures Karasjok regularly gets below -40 so that should be a safe bet, coldest I ever experienced was -68
@@niffy99 it sometimes get -35 here in my part of østfold, and when i lived in Bøverbru under Gjøvik it was -40 often during winter :P
Tho i think the coldest i have expereinced so far is -45 ish. Toilets froze over, no locks worked, cars died etc. -68 sounds super cold XD
@@reg87dor its was, this is over 30 years ago now, remember no cars started and people were generally told to stay inside.
hyggelig å høre fra andre nordmenn her på youtube
Fantastich!
Thank you
I like how you covered the grill with the cover that’s a good idea and the northern lights look beautiful
Thank you, grille coverage one of the most important bits up here I find in the winter on my van and the Northern Lights are always wonderful
When I was a kid I was living in eastern Finland and -30°C happened for a few days every winter. Now I've lived near to the southern coast for almost 30 years and last time I remember the temperature reached -30°C was in 2011. But in the north that happens every year. Even -40°C.
I just remembered a joke about that:
A guy from southern Finland called to his friend living in Lapland.
- "I heard from the news that it's very cold now north there"
- "No, it's only -10°C"
- "But I heard it's -40°C?!"
- "Oh, that's outdoors!"
Great video. Never thought of using a thermal camera, and what might be standing near me when I’m out in near total darkness.
I spent a lot in remote places. Interesting to see what’s around after dark
Thanks for another great episode Alex.
Thank you very much for watching!
Nicely done Alex , Yeti performing well at -20 and downwards, and with the engine cover deployed she's running well. Winch option definitely a good call.
Yeah no performance issues with the vehicle in the cold. I’ve had to cover on for a while now
WOW! There's an actual moose loose about your hoose (van) hahaaa! -30C.... getting closer!!!!!! Ace vid Alex!
Thank you very much greats! We are getting there on the temperature goal! But it’s not being easy!
It's a nice drive from Finland to Kiruna. And the road from Kiruna to Norway is awesome also, specialy in winter
It is indeed, I did it last winter
In the 80s i travelled to North Albera -20 was a break, many weeks -40 to lows of -54. Had to have circulation heat on 24 /7 , if my van sat, i worked in a loader with heat but never got above 5c in the cab all day, I did sleep some nights in the van, but back then I had only a small direct vent propane heater, in never held much better than 10 or 12 c , i had a military mummy bag and a goose down down bed cover, i remember waking at 3 am having to pee, bitter sweet memories, but in life you've got to go out and live it all, my entire winter best may have been 15 C in my friends log cabin, with wood stove stuifed day and night, good video, it brought back old memories 👍
Sounds like a life well lived sir. I’d love to return to Canada at some point. Maybe ship my van over. It’s hard to find that sort of cold in the Nordics.
@@MispronouncedAdventures well you're a brave man, yeah for the deep freeze weather, the NWT , Yukon , Alaska, or Siberian, those are the options, that Nordic region looked crispy too. Good luck , thanks for the message 👍
I like your bed setup, its very modular and allows for more sapce in the van when not in use! I dont think i have seen this before from other Van aficionados. Keep up the good spirits! 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Thank you I love the bed design in the van means I have a massive bed but also easily pack it away and not take up too much!
I was like yes another cracking video to watch, would love to see a cook up outside as I love winter ventures and even soup cooked in the snow would be comforting to watch,.
I’m sure something can be arranged I’m not a particularly good cook so it might be cheese Toasties in the snow!
@@MispronouncedAdventures yes on the ridge monkey no doubt , would love to do that proper like you but yes gotta be advanced I'm a novice going Wales in January!!
So awesome to see roads that we were on last month. Hope the temps keep dropping for you. Keep safe, keep warm. Hope Chanel and Dan are now also warm.
Thank you very much I hope the temperature keeps dropping as well!
This moose looks calm and peaceful comperd to the one tat was in my garden a coupple of months ago😀
Yeah, that one didn’t seem particularly bothered to by much even the trucks going past metres away
Great to watch another episode of your great adventures. Trying to work out where I can fit a diesel heater on my motorhome to cut down on the gas I use. Love the night shots from your drone on your last video, that is until you hit a tree, glad the drone survived 👍
Diesel heaters really are excellent on fuel consumption. Lots of different locations. You can fit them some mounted in boxes underneath, or inside the vehicle in cupboards or even underneath drivers seats or passenger seats depending on the vehicle. I was also in during my drone shots before I hit the tree. 😂
grate video
Thank you for watching!
I am enjoying your trip together with you. Thank you, Alex. Safe road!
Thank you very much for watching!
Isnt it amazin how nature is inhuman but with a few technical things the human is able to live, travel and work in it...

Thank you, plenty more of season 2 which was the 2023 winter season. About to leave for winter 3
Loved that. What a fantastic trip and your showing it really well. Thanks 👍
Thank you very much I’m glad you are enjoying the journey
I remember a January day 37 years ago, I had worked all day in Oslo, and in the afternoon I started with my Toyota Celica north through Sweden. It was bitterly cold throughout Sweden. On E4 in the far north at night, the sea fog came and settled on the road. It was so icy that the wheels spun in 4th gear. Enter Finland. Had driven almost in one, at a very high speed, tired as hell. The more tired I got, the more I increased my speed so as not to fall asleep. On winter nights, when it is close to -40, everything is grey. Sees a slight turn, and follows the road. Sees a gray spot on the road. Why is there a gray spot on the road? Don't get it, because I'm too tired, not until the lights hit the eyes of the three reindeer in the middle of the road. I'm going too fast to slow down, but flipping the light switch on and off makes the reindeer decide which way to go, and I drive the opposite way. Fortunately, they ran the right way into the forest. When I look around, there are probably several thousand animals on both sides of the road.
Yeah, the reindeer certainly usually don’t move until you get by the close and they do blend in pretty well with snow-covered roads even with lights
Another time, with a Ford Capri, a winter time between Christmas and New Year, at night. Coming over a crest at 100 mph. The road is five meters wide in summer. Now in winter it is narrower. There are three reindeer facing me. I consider, I can drive out. Know that it is actually very nice to drive out on the right. On the left side there is an upward slope. At the very last minute, one of the reindeer moves a few decimetres, and I choose to drive between them, while giving even more speed to over 100 mph. I don't think they realized what disappeared between them, but I'm sure there was reindeer hair attached to the car on both sides. I have calculated that at the speed I was driving at the time I would be able to drive the Nürburgring in less than ten minutes, and this journey was 80 miles.
@@MispronouncedAdventures A cousin of mine, he was also young and stupid. Driving as he had the devil after him, going over crests at stupid speed. There were at least 14 reindeer standing, at least dead after he hit them. He said he had to turn on the windshield wiper because of the blood. Did you know, there wasn't any speed limits in Finland 50 years ago.
@@MispronouncedAdventures A friend of mine was caught at high speed, but they were unable to measure. He was asked if he had a license to fly and if he did, then if he could fly a little higher, if not, then he had to reduce the speed.

It’s stunning scenery every day up here!
Cracking video yet again mate 👍 keep up the good work 😁 stay safe and take care 😁
Cheers! Plenty more to come!
Love seeing how you and the van handle these extreme conditions plus the light towers, the aurora, all fascinating. FYI, a baby moose is called a mooselet and a little known fact is that moose are born hairless on their undersides meaning that mothers must scoop the mooselets up with their antlers when traversing deep snow to prevent frostbite. For this reason the moose is the only mammal known to have a teat between it’s shoulder blades in order that the young can suckle while riding. David Attenborough told me this down the pub.
Generally no issues in the extreme conditions.
Attenborough is known for his stories and the love of a good sesh down the pub 😂
Loving the Chrystals , Never heard of or seen that before.
Not sure I understand could you explain?
The ice Chrystal phenomena with the light.

i studied 2 years by the Finish / Swedish border in Overtornea Sweden.. had like -40C several times during the winter
Hopefully I will find -40c another year. It’s been very mild overall
We did never see any campers nor RV`s up here in wintertime but latest winters they have been frequently more extreme campers seen :) yeah inland of northern Scandinavia is cold as heaven
I bet. I saw one other Brit and a few Germans. This winter there were at least 7 Brits and I saw a lot more Germans and other European countries
What? No fish and chips? Pip Pip Ey Wot!!
Fish and chips is a British stereotype? I am in northern Sweden?

I do enjoy them. nice quick snacks too
Fabulous video Alex. Oh come on mate, you will definitely be getting a winch for the van haha. In about 2 years that van will look the mutts nuts with the extras. Only thing missing will be 4x4. Quick question what was the food bag you got out of the freezer. Totally agree with your cooking, so saves on water. Keep up the brilliant videos. Fabulous to watch. Safe Travels
The food is a sort of potato meat, onion, diced, are you finding most of shops in the freezer section I really like it and it’s easy to cook.
Who knows maybe the next van will be a AWD transit
@@MispronouncedAdventures sounds like the potato zeppelins I was eating in Lithuania. The national dish. Thanks mate 👍
I think a winch would be a good idea especially where your usually alone for long stretches of time, also maxx traxx or something like it if you don’t already have something.
Yeah, I agree with a winch for just the ease of problem, solving my own issues
Maybe a portable one?
That’s also another option as well
The question isn't necessarily 'do I NEED a winch?', but 'do I WANT a winch?' 😉🤷♂️
Also, that thermal video of the moose really shows how well insulated most of their bodies are. Apart from the head, she seemed to be registering much the same temperature as the snowy road!
I've seen reindeer that are so well insulated that the snow that lands on their backs doesn't even melt!
100% want a winch, probably changes itself to need if I find myself in a ditch 😂
Yeah, thermal is a lot of fun to see things under. I’d imagine much of the outer parts of the animals fur is gonna be very similar to surrounding temperatures
Yeah when it’s snowing you see the snow build up on the animals
@@MispronouncedAdventures not as cool but a portable winch might be of more use, never used one myself but i assume it would be more useful if you go in the ditch head first! not that you're gonna do that of course! happy adventures!!
Wow on the drones

U need a heated floor!! Haven’t you heard of them?
Not often done in vans that could be done with electric or hydronic. But not hugely necessary or worth the effort to retrofit.
I live in Sweden and this is the type of adventures I wish to make in USA
I love to visits the North American Arctic in winter
Ayo I never thought those light pillars work like that, never been in a frigid environment so that's new 😂
It’s a pretty interesting atmospheric phenomena
Just enjoying a gamma ray myself 🍻
Well, enjoy the cold but cheers to the beer
If snow or gravel goes to the exhaust pipe, a heater gets sooty.
Gravel is unlikely to get in the exhaust pipe due to the steep angle of it, any snow, which does happen seems to melt immediately, when it turns on
@@MispronouncedAdventures Both have happened to me. Although, it was mud not gravel. Had a different car back then and now I have a Sprinter 316 and the heater works perfectly
@TuomoUusitupa I can imagine mud is a real problem, at you would bake it dry with heat!
Just a thought when you said "Beer Beer".
Whats the legal amount you can drink while over there, and would you still classified as being in charge of a vehicle while over the limit.
I know in the UK, You can not sleep in a car while drunk.
Is it different because its a van with a bed
Glad you broke your record. Good Luck
Nordic drinking limits like most of Europe is in effect zero, unlike England and Wales ( Scotland being lower than England and wales ).
I’ve never been personally fussed with drinking in the van after I finish driving and the whole in “charge of a vehicle” I think you’d be hard pressed to have issues in a campervan format where you’re in the back of the vehicle in the habitation area and clearly stopped. Mind you. I still don’t sit in the driver seat and have a beer with the keys in ignition.
Windshield washer fluid is rated to -30 degrees Fahrenheit You’re nowhere near that. It shouldn’t be frozen.
Not sure what a Fahrenheit is. Anyway, variety of different washer fluid is rated different levels. This was earlier the trip so probably some of my UK mix are still in the system or or snow, and ice builds up on top of the nozzles which blocks it
Re the winch.
HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS!! 😉
Sounds good to me
Great video. Couple of questions if you don’t mind. Do you get a mobile signal in a remote area like that and do you have a toilet in the van ?
Signal in the remote areas is better than the general signal I get in the Uk.
Yes I do have a toilet in the van.
nice bed 👍
Thank you very much
Hi Alex, have you thought about using the bobilvans kits to pre-heat the engine? E.g. by using their underfloor heating kit and connect it to the engine coolant? Not sure if it works but it would certainly be interesting.
Somehow it would be neat to get rid of the redundancy and be able to heat air/water and engine with a diesel air heater or the engine.
The principal is certainly there. The power of the bobil van is heat exchanger only 2.1kw whist might engine pre heater is 5kw. But it would certainly heat it up, just take longer. I think more of the issue would be flow and the restrictions as the bobil uses of far smaller diameter piping in.
I think I would prefer to do it the other way around and use the engine and the engine preheater as a primary source and some like a SureCal Calorifier. In this environment, I prefer having a redundant system as a backup.
@@MispronouncedAdventures right, that makes sense. Also, the drawback is that for heating a cold car - e.g. if you're not living in it, it's overkill to use the airheater to heat the engine.
On the other side, I've got the bobilvans hybrid, and by integrating the engine coolant, through an additional heat exchanger on the engine side. It would be a very flexible setup. You could even use the hot water in your boiler to heat the engine. The power source could then be either electricity (Bobilvans Hybrid) or the Diesel Air heater.
Pytt-i-panna and falu korv. Your eating well..
It works for me
Out of curiosity- why did you have cut the aurora recording short because of the moose?
Didnt think potentially surprising a mama Moose with baby Moose would in the dark would of been the safest idea
(hi, good morning, congratulations for the video, it's really beautiful, what beautiful places there are in Russia and in the far north you satisfy my curiosity and there in the far north like Siberia when in winter it snows with Siberian temperatures come on - 12 to -16 and even -35 - 40 degrees, what is the grade and viscosity of the engine oil used for your SUVs, do you use off-road mud tires for mud on snow or do you use thermal winter road tires or snow chains? ) I drive my petrol Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with the m13a 1.3 LT petrol engine. , petrol since 2001. I use Liqui Moly Mos2 10w40 engine oil with molybdenum disulphide and I also added an anti-wear additive from Liqui Moly Certec and, like all Terrain tires and Terrain Mud tires, it measures 205-70-15 and therefore I use gasoline additives that are used to clean the fuel line! I wish you a Merry Christmas 2023 and a Happy New Year 2024! Greetings from the Pontassieve province of Florence, Italy!
Hello! Thank you for your comment. If there wasn’t the current difficulties and difficulty of visas, I would’ve quite enjoyed to visit northern Russia.
Engine oil in my diesel van being a euro6 engine is is quite thin so it is 5w30 which is good down to about -35c.
The tyre are all-terrain opposed to off-road mud tyres. That we consider those different types of tyres. mine are BFG KO2 in size 225/75R16 but I use this tyre all year around and with my last winter experience has great cold weather performance from them. I also carry snow chains just in case
Look out for the green comet in Ursa Major.
I’ve heard about this. Meant to be best on Feb 4th I think I heard
Yesterday and today are the closest.
Hi Alex, not sure if the question has been asked before, but why don’t you carry a small generator? back up to the back up. Loving the video’s.
don’t really need one. Solar is pretty much non-existent up here but My engine charges the batteries at 700-800w when running. Power is one of the least of my issues up here. By the time I finished for the day, I’m always at 100% and usually the next morning up at around 75%. Also have two portable power bank eco-flow unit with me as a back up. If I can’t get my engine to start, I’ve got bigger issues, but plenty of power options to keep the heater going.
A 3rd heater broken down into bits might be good next time hehe Did you see that lorry driving past you doing a ton?. He's the one that needs to try a braking test
That’s just standard driving out here with the lorries.
I did actually plan on bringing two entire spare heaters with me as I have them, but decided it was a bit unnecessary 😂
@Grant Jones that’s for sure, many of the trucks have huge bars and grills over the fronts them for that eventuality or more likely, hitting reindeer
@Grant Jones that’s for sure I imagine they’re more interested in protecting the front of the lorry from damage & repairs than the results of the animal
Stunning aurora footage! What's your insulation setup? Spray-foam?
Thank you. Plastic roof insulation in all the cavities and then 25mm PIR insulation board panels over the top
I'm pretty sure a baby moose is called a calf
You are correct, I had a brain fart at the time of speaking 😂

nice) hi from ukraine
Hello!
Im a new sub and would love to know what you have covering your back door on the inside, for my sprinter
Thank you for joining! The back doors is a insulated material cover I made. The material is normally used for windscreens. I’m sort of using it as a giant blanket to cover all the back doors and the door seems. there’s a video on the build series about it on the channel.
Got help fellow brits it our thing
Always was going too. it was never a question that I wouldn’t. just making sure all other options for repair had been worked out first.
you did not turn on warning lights when you stopped there , yes i know its the side of the road but its the rule , nothing major but its snow and ice , i would not stop without warning lights .
Not sure what part you mean? any places I’m stopped in a lay-bys where I won’t be using my ambers. Normally if I stopped in a road I would be using them.
@@MispronouncedAdventures yeah for safety that is all , its not important ,im glad you have time and money to travel around , i would do it with you , when i get the money . Soon to be a lawyer so maybe just maybe we see each other

Indeed
Not a bad choice on the beer front
🍺 I may have brought that one with me from the UK
@@MispronouncedAdventures what’s the beers like over there?
Quite different alcohol laws, actually normally only low, percentage ( 3.5% ) beers and alcohol of any kind can be sold in supermarkets. Anything stronger is normally sold in a government run alcohol shop which are normally associated or part of the supermarkets.
A lot of lagers when I prefer ales myself, but I wouldn’t say there’s a shortage of variety
@@MispronouncedAdventures ah that’s interesting. I’m an ale drinker, though I am partial to a pilsner every now and then
I think the correct term is Mooselet.
I thought it might be Calf
When you getting the heated floors powered by solar
Unfortunately, solar doesn’t really work out here.
As for heated floors I don’t have any, but there are two options available, a glycol liquid underfloor heating or an electrical one.
It is a tempting prospect. If I was building a second van, I may consider ways of implementing it. Not sure which direction I would go yet.
@@MispronouncedAdventures I'll go for electric heating carpets... they are more versatile, you can use them for spot heating almost everywhere and if it's a mat you can just remove it in the warmer months. Also thinking about a heated under blanket.
Great setup but so much processed food for such a wholistic trip 😢
The prices of non-processed are mad, but that being said I don’t enjoy cooking, nor am I good at it. I do what I’m comfortable with cooking
Was just thinking at the start of your video....his van is 2WD....couldn't he do with a winch if he gets stuck? Travelling solo....seems a sensible idea to mw
Aye, I do like having more options for self rescue if need be
Hello. when did you first start using grill cover? And who advised? in which episode? Thank you
I made it myself. I used it on the first winter arctic trip for a few days. The second arctic trips I used it for 2 months.
Generally -20c or below I see engine temperatures dropping off
in Russia, there is the region of Tatarstan, and the city of Kazan. So here, ambulances and post offices саr cover their radiator grilles with the arrival of winter. and so they drive until spring. up to positive temperatures. Our region is not the coldest. It's still minus 20. And by the way, these car are Fords or Gazelle
You can also make double glazing in the living compartment. with double glazed windows the windows will not freeze and you can admire the scenery
Why dont you use propane? Or both actually? never heard of anyone using electrons to cook...am i missing sonething?😊👍
I’ve got no need to use gas and I don’t want it. Just another fuel source to try and find. It’s the future electric cooking, gas/LPG getting way harder to get hold off in the UK. With large lithium batteries just makes sense to use induction cooking & air fryers. becoming increasingly more popular in the UK self builds.
Plus I think it’s performance gas wise, gets pretty problematic in the extreme cold
What kind of engine preheater did you use? Is it 12V DC?
It’s a Webasto Thermo Top Evo from a scrapped Land Rover Discovery 3, there are a few videos on my channel about how to retrofit them into vans.
It’s run on diesel as the fuel source and 12v DC, pretty much the same as your normal diesel air heater only heats liquid instead
