What do you think of the Surface Pro X ? I have really been enjoying this device for several months and it really has been created for the average consumer, let me know in the comments below your thoughts 👍🏽
i dont like these microsoft devices because they lack repairability to an extent which is just ridiculous. glued together on purpose so if any little thing breaks you absolutely can not fix this device. in times of global warming, pollution and destruction of nature due to ressource mining and overcrowded landfills in africa such a corporate behaviour to make repairs impossible is completely irresponsible. i only buy laptops and notebooks where it is possible to open the device without completely destroying it. dont come with the argument that it is not possible, due to the small form factor. ifixit has several videos that give the surface line 0/10 repairability and show how they glue everything together. you simply cant repair these devices. on the contrary there is many devices like the new samsung galaxy flex, hp spectre, dell xps, which you can open to at least replace the SSD and repair parts if needed.

An excellent, intelligent review. Most reviewers don't get it. They look at it like if you buy an expensive Lexus LC500 and because of the price, it should also do the work of a Toyota Landcruiser! I appreciate the honest, great review. But mentioning that it uses an arm processor is kind of a big deal. It straight up cant run some third party applications.
not to mention running non-ARM applications means code emulation (Windows on Windows64- "WoW") meaning performance and battery life tank. E.G. only Microsoft Edge browser is compiled to run natively on the Windows-on-ARM device , running any other browser, like Chrome, means it will be slower, and consume more battery life. For a device released last year, the native application library is pathetic.
can one install Microsoft Visual Studio Code on this device. That is the main app I need and not sure if it allows that. It can be installed on both Windows (.exe) and Mac.
Awesome review, how you don't have more views is beyond me. I really like how pointed out the purpose of the device and who its targeted at. I've been seeing the it can't play AAA games and professionally edit video/photos in a majority of them, with the reviewer's then concluding that they can't recommend it. Ridiculous if you ask me... A general PC user. I daily a Surface Go and successfully use office, create pdf docs, word, watch videos, use browser apps in the new Edgium browser(absolutely awesome function), and have actually created a simple 1080p video on YT of gaming. I used a simple movie editor app from the windows store and it worked flawlessly. All I heard from reviewers was it can't use Adobe premier so forget it.
By far the best review for this device ever. I agree 100% with everything you said. Especially about the tech reviewers not knowing what this device is for.
Hi there I'm after or been looking at the pro x is it true that if you install or upgrade to Windows 11 you can now install 64bit software on it as before you couldn't do this
I'm a developer as well, and VS serves as my coding environment. I've had one of these for about 7 months now, and it has been a great device. VS Code has just been ARM'd and I basically RDP into a workstation for serious dev work. I found that the battery life and connectivity made the SPX an optimal device, even though I thought it wouldn't be.
I’ve had mine since it first came out, and I really like it. Now I should add: I’m largely a macOS/iOS person. I’m typing this on my 12.9in iPad Pro. But the Surface Pro X is a really good device, and an excellent design. The only issue I have is that I have short legs (I’m 5’8) and so when I’m using it in the lap my choice is basically either it’s at a very vertical angle... or it slips off my knees, as the kickstand is right on the edge of my knees.
jdouglas8585 When you total up everything, yes, they’re very close in price. Ask me on different days about which I prefer and you’ll probably get a different answer :) As my work is 100% based on Office 365, for work the Surface Pro X wins out. But the iPad Pro offers a better overall user experience, has a huge selection of really good games, and I find generally the Apple Pencil beats the Surface Pen (your mileage may very - that’s very much a personal choice). IPad OS has a better selection of high-quality apps overall, such as Ulysses (an amazing writing tool) and many others.

It's simple: The Form factor is the best in the business imo. For sure some of the tech convergence is not "quite there yet" but still good/usable. The main problem is simple: Price. For the hardware, you pay too much. If MS reduced price, people would be gladly buying these and not find fault with the hardware (performance at that price). One area to continuously improve is software compatibility however. Waiting to see the new version on 22nd September. Very likely to purchase one of these for multiple use cases.
Looking forward to a proper ARM based laptop. The only issue I have with the SPX is that there are limited applications for it. I'm one of those people that need the full-fat version of Excel and there's a handful of other applications that I need that just won't work on the ARM version of Windows. Maybe I just need to wait for version 2 or wait for the SP8 to maybe get that same form factor. Yes Linus that is you !

A fantastic and balanced review. I am needing a new computer as I am going back to school for the first time since 1981. That's not a typo, yes 1981. Looking for something that will do everything you mentioned. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you for addressing the tech journalist bubble. It gets rather frustrating when trying to objectively watch tech videos, especially when thinking of buying a device. I have no need to edit 4k video... that's not my work-flow. So it's nice to hear your refreshing perspective on this device. Thank you!
I feel the assessment you give isn't 100% accurate. I feel like if this device was for "you", a £999 base price tag without the pen or keyboard is steep for someone who purely wants to check stocks, emails, etc. when the average person could easily buy a Surface Go for £683 with LTE and a keyboard, as well as being able to run regular Windows applications and not be limited to apps optimised for Arm with 32-bit apps being emulated, causing issues with Chrome on the Pro X.
I need stability and full software support over aesthetics in office environments, also close to none of my clients are currently using anything with a USB-C device, so the SP7 is essentially a much more reliable option for me when it comes to day to day business options. I end up choosing the SP7 instead, it's just more reliable using hardware that I'm used to and I'm a sucker when it comes to simple industrial designs.
Great review! I wanted exactly what you said this offers and is good for! So I just went and bought one! Thank you for your honest review! And thank God you weren’t like every other TH-camr who compares it against huge software machines.
I would understand the audience of the SPx if the iPad couldn't edit 4k in real-time, run any kind of games and be a performance beast. Microsoft has no excuse to deliver such performance.
Mmmmm my Galaxy Book S is the same thickness with double the battery life, same specs as the $1,350 SPX for $600. The SPX has an extra GPU core which ends up being a wash because it's pushing a lot more pixels. Go with the Galaxy Book S.
Yes you can. And VS Code is releasing their Arm64 version soon. For now it will run in the emulated x86 mode which is Ok but might drain the battery faster.
Totally agree... 👍🏼 I’ve had mine for almost 7 months now and I totally love it. I for one am so sick of countless of numbskull reviewers here in YT that seems to enjoy dissing this machine simply because they just don’t know and understand it’s specs. Once you get the fact that this machine is not running an ordinary intel cpu (and it’s limits with non optimised softwares) then only a totally dense fool would not enjoy this very beautiful product. I’ve gotten Adobe PS, illustrator, sketchbook pro and countless other very useful programs to work on this machine. It’s not 100% perfect just like on intel cpu units but again, if you understand it’s limits and what it can or can’t do then your all set. I’m even gonna attempt to hook up my Cintiq pro 13HD with this to see if it’s a viable solution option for portable graphics work and alike. My only gripe with this is it’s price tag 🏷 It is very pricy considering it is one of the newest MS products out there atm. If you can get the 16/256 under $1000 2nd hand or whatever. Then that’s what I’d recommend. There seems to be an abundant of ppl willing to let this unit go for a fraction of its original price so I say keep an eye for those and snag one or two if you want to make money out of it ;) Hell, I did 😁
Yes, it runs Office 2019, 360 flawlessly 👌🏼 I purchased it from a friend of a friend. They paid retail and didn’t meet their expectations therefor was willing to let it go for $900 AUD w/pen & kb. They thought it was the 8gb/256gb variant but it was in fact the 16gb/256gb. The purchase was already finalised when I made that discovery so when I informed the seller, he was just embarrassed and just told me it was OK. Warranty is also transferable too so that’s a big plus imo. My only gripe with this is the SSD. I for one managed to track down a couple of 1gb Kioxia’s but that’s through some very fortunate events. It’s very rare and very expensive SSD brand new or otherwise. It’s so hard to spot them in the wild (eBay, Amazon, etc...) especially these days to find 512gb let alone the 1TB latest SSD. If anything, that’s what YTrz should be complaining about instead of trying to compare this to a traditional Intel CPU which is just bonkers imho. Oh and Win10 Pro 2004 x64 is also now available and works 💯 with SPX. So yeah, just so you know...
There's one issue with your final verdict, yes this device is fine, even outstanding for a non-gamer/creative professional. but at 1700 dollars without the without the keyboard. It's a luxury most of the general public for which the device is made can't afford

Can I take ZOOM meetings that are freeze-frame free on this device or the Surface Pro 7?
Can I use Microsoft Office 365? Full version.
Great video review I just bought one. I have a laptop for heavy duty. Was debating between SP7 and X. I also have a 11 iPad pro.
1st time viewer enjoyed that spot on review as I just purchased the pro X and love it. Added your channel to my subs 👍
Can it handle zoom?
You are an excellent tech review tuber, thanks for posting from oz....
Great video!
Thank you Mike I appreciate your support
Really very helpful , many tnx
Great review!
Thanks bro, how are you doing?
Tech Zilla doing well fam. Keep up the good work!
Great video and a great education. I learned so much. Thank you so much.
Does it have 3.5 mm Jack.?
Yes it does
Does it run Adobe creative suite?
Can we install all the applications which are using in normal windows laptop? Or separate applications for surface pro X?
Recently I bought ipad .. but I need like both tab and laptop functionality.
The apps for the pro x are the full apps like other laptops and PC but they have been configured to run on the Arm chip.
Wow
Full apps?
So it is suitable for autocad?
My friend suggest for macbook, but not familiar with it
Would like to buy surface pro x, not sure about apps compatability
Alias Yazid i have autocad in my surface PRO 4 and use it always
@@sherieguda7031 thanks.. I brought ipad recently.. very useful but I can't install all laptop applications that's why.. if this is also same, no useful for me that's why.. thanks a lot👍👍
Wow this Surface Pro X is a beautiful device. I need to see that bad boy in person. Can't wait till this Pandemic passes lol. Nice video TZ 👍🏾 👍🏾.
#FordGT
great review
Thank you for your kind words 🙏
You can now put the new soc they launched ! and enjoy more power and battery life
I feel honest review.
Review which doesn't give you headaches 😉
To the point and with logic... Not just fact!
Thanks for the review 👍
Great looking video 😁👍🏻
Oh look I got in first 👀😊
Finally 😂
Awesome Review!! I've loved, I got quite a few firmware updates which have made the machine a little better than when I bought it.
I own a Surface Pro 3 for five years now. I am thinking of buying a new Surface. The fanless Pro X is very appealing to me.
Wow what a great logical and sane review. Not a single positive let alone rational review of this variant. This should be a notice to 99.99% of the reviewers who think most of the the world is gamers and vid editors and one lunatic who is on rewind every week ..... next week we make a million dollar computer... ostensibly for the peripubescent crowd. Yes Linus that is you !
It doesn't feel cold against my wrist 7:55 😂 only a problem for anyone in the UK
Great content tech villa! review for real users, not content creators! multiples excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, etc, run smoothly?
excelent explanaited who this device realy needs
I believe the pro x was design for Windows 2
10x and will get better.
Is this a good video editing device?
Did you watch my video?
Yes but it was very vague on the capabilities
I clearly stated it’s not for video editing, high end gaming or RAW photo editing
No you didn't
I have a brand new MacBook unopened and I’ve been thinking about taking it back and getting this instead but I’ve read some crappy review about these surface produce but all the TH-cam review they’re great I don’t know what to believe
What will you be using it for? That’s the question you need to ask
Tech Zilla I’m a student so the basics writing papers taking notes etc I’m mostly interested in the quality of the surface pro more then anything.
I have the very first surface ever released from years ago and it still works perfectly to this day, I trust Microsoft as a quality company.
I have had a samsung tab pro s... a few years old now... very similar to the surface x....
I've seen that it can stutter and lag when browsing on Chrome, has this been fixed the the past few months?
A fantastic and balanced review. I am needing a new computer as I am going back to school for the first time since 1981. That's not a typo, yes 1981. Looking for something that will do everything you mentioned. Thanks for sharing!!!
I need to run some non intensive 64bit software like Sublime Text or Logos Bible Software, will it work well?
Like 4 months ago I bought the sp7 and I would have gotten the spx if it had a sd card slot like the sp7 does
I need stability and full software support over aesthetics in office environments, also close to none of my clients are currently using anything with a USB-C device, so the SP7 is essentially a much more reliable option for me when it comes to day to day business options.
Well said!!!! Thanks for a good video. :)
I would understand the audience of the SPx if the iPad couldn't edit 4k in real-time, run any kind of games and be a performance beast. Microsoft has no excuse to deliver such performance.
Great review. The only missing point was the operating systems issue
Mmmmm my Galaxy Book S is the same thickness with double the battery life, same specs as the $1,350 SPX for $600. The SPX has an extra GPU core which ends up being a wash because it's pushing a lot more pixels. Go with the Galaxy Book S.
Fantastic review. Most review focus on how powerful a laptop should be for the 1% power hungry users, which is nonsenses
Very good device, but costs $1700 USD (16GB + Keyboard/Pen)... Really expensive.
I agree it is expensive but I love using mine 😁
Btw the surface x is made of aluminium, the main surface range is magnesium
No it’s made of Magnesium, check Microsoft’s website
@@Tech_Zilla wrong, it's aluminum, you check the website!
But will it run Ubuntu?😛
Watching the keyboard bounce while you type on makes it look terrible.
Can you run Visual Studio Code on this?
Yes you can. And VS Code is releasing their Arm64 version soon. For now it will run in the emulated x86 mode which is Ok but might drain the battery faster.
Most of Microsoft's products will the first to be re-architected for ARM as well.
Totally agree... 👍🏼
I’ve had mine for almost 7 months now and I totally love it.
My only gripe with this is it’s price tag 🏷
It is very pricy considering it is one of the newest MS products out there atm.
If you can get the 16/256 under $1000 2nd hand or whatever. Then that’s what I’d recommend.
There seems to be an abundant of ppl willing to let this unit go for a fraction of its original price so I say keep an eye for those and snag one or two if you want to make money out of it ;)
Hell, I did 😁
Pardon me? You bought a 2nd hand? Where did you buy it then?
Yes, it runs Office 2019, 360 flawlessly 👌🏼
I purchased it from a friend of a friend.
It would have been better to focus on your experience than reading the specs
Obviously you didn’t watch the video where I clearly shared my experience
i like you. subscribed
Thank you I appreciate it
Im debating spx vs sp7 @ techzilla
What’s more important to you? What apps do you mainly use?
@@Tech_Zilla im a csc programmer in college. I use all Microsoft apps, Textpad, Eclipse, Netbeans, snapchat Instagram Adobe Pdf reader and chrome( but i usually have 8-18 tabs open in 1 window)
Its no more magnesium, its alluminium..
you look like zubin mehta bro
Good review but bench marking would be useful.
