Also, I'm always looking for feedback, so please feel free to let me know what you like or dislike about my review here in the comments section. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
I've put a lot of time, effort, and sweat into this review to make it the most comprehensive, the most complete, and (hopefully) the most reliable review that anyone will ever see on the Microsoft Surface Pro X. So I really hope that everyone watching this video will find my full review to be helpful to them in some way. Thank you for all of your support, and (if provided) thank you for all of your feedback as well.

MBA is garabage. no touch screen, pen support, microSD slot, 1080p webcam, face recognition, 2-in-1 design, 180 degree screen, upgradability.
And has a long history of keyboard issues, connectivity issues, green screen issues, thermal throttling which has lead to class-action lawsuits just about every other year.

Good review. I decided to replace my Surface Pro 4 with Surface Pro X rather than Surface Pro 7. I was leery after reading reviews of the Surface Pro X so I borrowed one from a coworker, loaded the programs I use and went through my daily workflow. It does everything I need and I love the form factor, battery life, slim pen, and LTE connectivity. I do agree about the difficulty opening the kickstand and I've ordered a skin because I hate fingerprints but otherwise I'm happy. I bought a mint condition used 256GB version with pen and keyboard for $900.

Probably the best review on the internet about this device. I was tempted by the pro x, but went with the tab S7+ in the end. Lack of Dropbox was one of the main reasons... Maybe one day I will consider an improved version once 64bit emulation works

@Lauren Glenn Back then Windows 11 didn't even exist but I still wonder if desktop Dropbox works. I have installed the Android subsystem on my Surface Book 3, and while it's not native, it works and I even manage to install the Google Play store.

OMG. This is the most fair, thorough, informative, articulate and drama-free reviews I’ve seen since the SPX was released. Seriously- it was really great and your post production work looks great as well. I’m still torn between the SPX and the SP7. I tried the SPX at a MS event and it was really nice, but I am worried about the ARM compatibility issues for something that all-in can cost close to $2K. Thanks again for a great review! Gonna check out the rest of your channel now.

what I did before I switched.. go through all the apps you use on the laptop and use the task manager to find out which ones are 64bit. Then look to see if there are any alternatives. It turns out for programming do only apps I used on my surface book for 32 bit or Linux so it went perfectly smooth!

Listen im not a gamer. Im not a photo/video editor. Im a student. I love this device because it is light and portable. And by portability i mean you are always connected. As a student this is an advantage as I get to be connected for emails to and from my professors. I use it for some media consumption and for drawing/sketching. I also use this to take notes. The new Edge browser really amazing. Its like using Chrome. I love that I can take this device to school cafe restaurant train office meetings and be connected.

A very nicely done review, finally something which doesn't give us a generally negative post, thus showcasing that the reviewer didn't understand the purpose of the machine. One comment though: around 17:50 you claim that the pen is sold separately, but that is not the case. It's included with the keyboard, you can't get a surface signature keyboard without the pen. Of course you can get a different keyboard without a pen, but... there are more differences there than just the pen.

Great review! I am a full time commerce law student and also work four days a week, so the surface Pro X was perfect for me to take into work then go into uni. Such a beautiful piece of kit and makes the pro 7, look agricultural..... I love the connect charger but also love the dual USB C. For me working with either Excel spread sheets or long documents, a laptop was a must, especially when i have back to back classes all day.
I love the cellular too, and I knew that I would appreciate being able to work on the go, read the news or do emails. When compared to the surface GO with cellular it's only an extra $600 here in AUS for the X, which offers a larger screen, more power and better build.
I did definitely consider the Ipad pro 12.9 with cellular, and while that is a great device, for my work I needed more of a "laptop" experience, especially with Excel. Also the camera is great for zoom calls etc. Finally the iPad with the case is very expensive. On sale I got the whole surface x kit for the same price as an iPad pro 12.9

Good review right up to the part where you said the Surface Pro X is only perfect in the right hands and thats not what its being marketed to. I couldnt disagree more. The Surface Pro X is being marketed to real life users that are in the most employable jobs out there... Business owners and enterprise execs. These are people that want connectivity and portability using common business programs. I also disagree that people who like the Surface Pro X will lie about its performance. I love mine and know there are compatibility issues but I dont care. The positives outweigh the negatives by far. On balance, though I would say your review was good as you covered off a lot of the usability aspects.

I picked up both and ended up sticking with the SPX. The display, design, speakers, microphones, camera, LTE, and pen are absolute game-changers compared to the SP7. If you're going for raw power or rely 64-bit Win10 apps then don't get it but if you're like me (a business professional) who uses mostly O365 and browser-based cloud softwares, this is a must have device tbh. One thing, you said it's much better than a Chromebook. It would be interesting to see a comparison to a comparable device like the new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, since it has a pen and AMOLED screen for $999.
For a developer perspective, Chromebooks also have Linux integrated to do Dev stuff. On it you can also install apps like Gimp, office, and other 32 and 64bits programs. You have Android apps too.
And unlike MacOS, Chromebooks have touchscreen and pen support as well.
And you also have the simplicity of Chrome OS when it comes to updates and efficiency.
I don't see it that clearly. It would be and interesting comparison.

I am hoping the next gen of Pro X (rumoured launch in 30th Sept or 1st Oct) will address some if not many of the issues you mentioned. I currently own Surface Pro 3 for 5 years now..and looking forward to buy another Surface 2-in-1 as replacement. At first I didn't bother with Pro X. Because initially I thought it must be some sort of highest end of product from Microsoft. I mean the name 'Pro X' itself gave me false impression that this thing might even be better than Pro 7. So, after seeing your review and others, I realise now that Pro X is a different species. The name and marketing makes it like a very high end PC. But, I am still interested and looking forward for Pro X 2 though...

Really love this review!! I’ve seen so many, but you pinpointed everything! even showed examples while working on it which is important to see what it looks like while it’s being used. I’m going to get this pc even though there’s some things don’t run on it, but give it time and everything will work fine on it. And it’s gonna be even more amazing pc 💪🏼 also “youtubers “ reviewing this pc gripe because it’s $1000!! ... but fuck it ...if people can pay $1000 for their cell phones, why is it a problem for buying a PC? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Appreciate your long term review. As suggestion is using a screen protector will help with glare and writing experience. Or at the very least wear a glove to enhance palm rejection. The iPad have really cornered the market with palm rejection. The only one that maybe superior is the Samsung laptop using the professional grade wacoom technology. Yea when the palm rejection fail is fails spectacularly. I still have notes with I explain vertical lines or handwriting all over the place due to page moving randomly up or down.
The irony that the top pro Microsoft product doesn't have win pro is very funny. As a CS student too, I'm using the extra feature to run ubuntu within windows. This because we'll you know we are suppose to know how vim etc. I would be a little nervous down the road to run docker on this device. As for games I would suggest just stream it through parsec with your main computer doing the heavy load. I also tend to skin my devices just so I don't have to worry about scratches not fingerprints. Just out of curiosity what ide are you using? And will you be a vim or emac user?

I really hope you make an updated review once the 64 bit emulation is available on the surface pro x.
I’m a student but I also wanna do some light gaming and I’m hoping the surface pro x (once it’s updated) is gonna be good enough for the games I wanna play. I have an iPad Pro right now but I’m sick and tired of the mobile limitations the iPad has and want a iPad like device that has desktop functions. I know I’m asking for too much here😭 thanks for the review I’ll look forward to the updated one hopefully🤞🏾

IF you are actually serious about Surface devices why are you watching Apple fanboy videos instead of going to Windows Central?

Purchased the SPX (SQ1, 8 ram, 128 ssd) for only $623US and love it.
    1. Battery life is outstanding. I get 12-13 hours of continuous TH-cam viewing at 40%
brightness / BlueTooth off / Wifi and battery saver on (SP7 gets 7-8 hours).
    2. Screen is brighter (can watch videos/read in dark room w/screen brightness at 0%)
    3. Display is bigger which helps greatly when annotating documents
    4. Is thinner and easier to hold for notetaking
    5. I can run every app I need for work (Office 2019, statistical software, PDF apps, Zoom,
Snapdrop, Nebo, etc.) w/o downloading MS' 64-bit emulator
    6. Price of the keyboard is about the same as SP7 on Amazon ($65)
    7. SP7 pen works on the SPX
    Downsides are
    1. No USB-A port (dongle life)
    2. No Thunderbolt 3 (can't leave charger home)
    3. No microSD slot
    4. 64-bit emulator kills battery life (this is why I haven't downloaded it)
    5. Not all of Windows 35 million apps/programs work (yet)
Finally, video editing, photo editing, & drawing are hobbies. Pro means white-collar professionals and STEM workers. So the SPX, unlike all iPads, is a Pro device.
