When I lived in New York I worked at an ice cream parlor. One day Chad came in and ordered an ice cream cone. I said "are you the d-" and he cut me off and said "yes." I said "I just want to say that I love your band." Then he started to talk to my boss and said, "your employee has a really good taste in music." It was amazing.
I met him on my 18th birthday at the palladium In Hollywood 1991. He was really easy to talk to and we both love kiss so we pretty much talked about kiss. Fast forward a couple of months later at a 7-11 on sunset, I was walking out as he pulls up on his Harley and we look at each other and I asked him if he remembered me and he said yes. There wasn’t much of a conversation after that, but the fact that actually remembered me, floored me!

It's a tough gig to look good when you've got Flea and Frusciante absolutely killing it, but you can't deny that Chad is an absolute rock keeping the band together.

I love that I’ve heard flees version of this story and chads version of this. Flee was told that “this guy eats drums for breakfast”. And it was just a throwaway line, and in another interview chad said he walked in carrying his drums and flee said “What’s that you’re breakfast?”, and chad was just like “ok…”
Seen Chad on the skins up close. He's truly a monster drummer and one of the greats. 🤘☺️

Apart from his obvious musical gift Chad is a classically trained musician and studied hard before he ever ran into RHCP. Yeah, he’s a beast on drums - oh jess!!!
I went to California with my wife years ago. We went to Neptunes net for lunch and the place was dead. We sat down to eat and Chad sat down at the table next to us. I pointed out who he is to her and suggested we leave him alone. We sat for about an hour next to him just pretending he’s a normal guy. I hope he appreciated the sense of normalcy.

Well, respect to him, but it seems that at that time you never heard about a band named Fishbone, with a bass player named Norwood Fisher...
Funny enough, the legendary Fish, Norwood's brother recorded with RHCP before you joined the band.
Fishbone were a local LA band, they've never been widely popular, RHCP the same at the time, before Chad and Frusciante joined them
