Lo primero es que si una musica no me gusta de primeras, se que no me va a gustar, lo segundo es que se perfectamente que ese tipo de indie pop depresivo, lento y nada cañero me parece cutrisimo y horrendo, y lo tercero es que no me voy a esforzar en escuchar una musica que me parece espantosa para intentar que me guste sabiendo ke no lo hara y habiendo muchas otras bandas o discos ke me impactan del tiron y me gustan sin esforzarme. Este grupo es el tipico grupo debindie pop ke teoricamente esta influido por nirvana y se autodenomina grunge, pero no se parece en nada a nirvana. Nirvana es cañero y mola a tope, y esto se parece mas a grupos como Los Planetas, pop insulso, aburrido y depresivo, que parece que lo ha escrito un amargao de la vida sin sangre en las venas. Si a alguien le ofende mi opinion sobre esta banda mexicana me da igual, no voy a mentir por cortesia.
@@YonkyKADAVER ok man... cool. I'm not trying to convince anyone, I'm just telling you how i got into it. I completetely agree, i also hate these bands glazing nirvana all the time. But they are making their stuff, it has nothing to do with grunge, or even pop. It's just shoegaze you know. And for your culture, it's REALLY inspired by Hole, not nirvana at all.
@@YonkyKADAVER you'd like their other stuff a lot more, way heavier, they went for a "shoegaze/indie" approach for the songs they're playing here, that's the "bored sad soft pop" stuff. i love shoegaze so i get where you're coming from, if you're not into that, this performance definitely isn't for you, but luckily for you these songs and the album they're from are the only ones of theres that are in this style. their other albums are way more "hard hitting", noisy stuff is definitely their main thing and is more what the group is into it seems
Can't get enough of Margaritas Podridas . Their music takes me to a higher level of consciousness. They are on their way to stardom in the U.S. and everywhere else around the globe if they want it.

Further proof that we are in a global musical revolution where genre boundaries are being expanded, morphed, dismantled, hybridized, fused and enriched with visions from young people who are so inspired and talented. KEXP is helping the cause and it is a glorious time to be listening to music via their channel. Thank you for turning me on.
at a time in our existence that everything is broken down into formulas, ingredients and recipes to success, at a time bands are more interested on which political stance they portray rather than music, more interested in sending their political message rather than art, at a time where if you write "controversial" lyrics you basically canceled therefore what you hear is already pre-approved by the cancel culture mob, at a time where ppl are trained to conform to one view and whoever else who doesn't align with the greater view is not a diversity figure but an enemy, and I could go on for hours, i really find it hard to comprehend your logic Wolf.
@@Reznor_Meeks believe it or not, great art can still be created during a time of artificiality and cancel culture. If anything this is the time where more and more people can go against the toxic cultural norms that are plaguing society as we speak. But if all we do is look at it from a negative perspective then yea maybe nothing will get done and this will be a time to feel ashamed of. Ever heard of looking at things with a glass half full perspective man?
@@Reznor_Meekspeople say this all the time like cancel culture is this new limiting thing that has risen exponentially as of recent, but Motley Crue literally had a full blown lawsuit over having the word “devil” in one of their album names. Can you name a single person that’s been “canceled” as of recent that has had such extreme repercussions to something as trivial as having the word “devil” in an album name? Cancel culture is by no means a new thing, and I would argue is not nearly as intense as it has been in the past.

This is one of those bands where as soon as I heard a song on KEXP (wow) I snap bought the album on Bandcamp. So glad I did! They are awesome!

never heard of this band until I saw the thumbnail. I'm really digging their 90's shoegaze style! Also, whoever is in charge of mixing these live performances does a fantastic job. Everything sounds so clear and balanced 👏👏👏

These girls definitely had Sonic Youth, Lush, and My Bloody Valentine playlist on repeat. Naw, but seriously I love this, and glad shoegaze and noise rock is still going strong.
the first album sounds a lot like Hole. but yeah..i love this kind of music. lots of 90s influenced young bands...check out Hello Mary. they are a young all girl band. very talented.

@@darthsaya8032 i too am an old dog and the 80s 90s are very much alive and well. lots of post punk 80s alternative check Sweeping Promises or Patio. and shoegaze is very much alive. Ringo Deathstar, No Joy, Fleeting Joys, Flyying Colours, Big Bite and many many more.
Been following the band since the beginning. The bassist and fill in drummer play in “Señor Kino”. Super cool to see them get the recognition they deserve. Best modern alternative rock band atm (imo ofc)

Great band! Loved how into it the drummer is, and that the guitarists are using Squier guitars. Good use of feedback and phase/flange pedals. Keep it up M.P., looking forward to more!
The Squier are the most we can aspire to, a $ 300 guitar they sell for up to 900 xd

@@chumkrimson8161 actually they started out as a nirvana cover band broadening their spectrum to sonic youth, furthering it into shoegaze in general and noise rock. attitude is still more grunge than shoegaze. 16:00 ff

Searching on the web I realized all the songs played in this performance belongs to their first album. I can honestly say that they´ve condense very well the esence of shoegaze, but propising a new aspect of it. Greetings from Chile!

Two things.
First, the initial bass line of the first song gave me some Twin Peaks vibes, which is fantastic vibes, and I love the dark shoegaze sounds overall. Lovely sound.
Second, is there anyone better than Cheryl Waters? She's the best.

Somehow I knew just from looking at the thumbnails and seeing the dresses and guitars that it would be good indie rock but I hit the jackpot when I heard it and saw people mentioning Lush... new band to listen to!!!

The song Margaritas (the last one) was my number 1 most listened song in Spotify for 2023 which is when I found them. I mean she broke a BASS STRING playing it, and the thickest one. So proud! This whole album really made my year

For the all the haters here, NO, this is not awfull or bad or anything like that, on the contrary, this is awesome! It's awesome that people this young are still interested in this genre of music, and I see nothing wrong with their quality, I mean seriously, that bass!! What happened here was that they were way too nervous, the vocals were way too low on the mix and that affected the performance. They have another live set online with 4 songs about 2 years ago, and you can tell the difference, they're much looser and the mix is better tuned. Sorry KEXP, I do love you but this particular one was a little below what you've got as used to, you always put out such perfect mixes. Overall I'll say it again, they're awesome!

Conocí esta banda unas pocas semanas antes de que lanzaran su discazo homónimo, me salvaron de la locura por la pandemia, me da mucho gusto ver hasta donde han podido llegar U,w,U. y que lleguen mucho más alto.

Yeah I play bass and she's sounds great. Not only on this video but on others I've seen. Like to find out what rig she's uses and pedals.
Cheryls enthusiasm must bring such a strong sense of accomplishment to the artists she chats with along these performances, like im sure this band was stoked after kicking ass on kexp, especialy having said that getting to seattle was a dream of theirs. This is one of my favorite kexp performances that i randomly will come back to they have a sound all their own yet it brings me a strong sense of recognition.
