If there’s anything I’ve learned in this life, it’s that you always MUST click on old Japanese albums with interesting covers that pop up in your recommended tab on TH-cam
Apparently, this album was not a hit in Japan. They were active till 1996, then disappeared. Unfortunately, nobody has any information on any band members. I hope they find out that almost 30 years later, almost a million people are jamming to this masterpiece. Edit: I stumbled upon a video by Orange glider on this band, and glad to know she's happily married to the guy who shot the cover of this and all their albums.Unfortunately no info on the others. It's quite amazing to see the power of time here. They became inactive and probably split since their records weren't selling enough. I hope someone shows her this video, so the 20-odd year old version of her knows, that in the end... she won..and her music is now being appreciated not only in Japan, but globally.
The nostalgia hit me like a rocket. It was the year 2000 and for my 10th birthday, my dad took me on his business trip to Tokyo. I was in high school during the 90s, a massive Japanese rock music fan back in the day… however never heard this band before… however as soon as I pressed play on this video, it took me back precisely the summer of 97, straight after graduating high school driving with high school friends on road trips… we were so happy and free… however totally oblivious to the fact that this summer was the beginning of the end with some of those friends you were so close with during 6 years of high school… a lot of us it was beginning of the end as some of us will start to grow apart once uni/college starts.

I work alone in an empty office building due to time zone issues, and have been playing City Pop as it isn't up in my face. This got recommended last night at yeah, it's great. I'm sorry I missed this in their 1990s glory.
@@Margatroid well it's working with proximate causes here. "City Pop" itself was a Japanese amalgamation of 70s Soul and Funk. Cardigans second album "Life" was a massive success in Japan, sold double platinum, which shows their music similar audience there in what was already the popular genre leanings.
what a cool, introspective album cover. I love old album covers because they always make me stop and ponder about the people on the cover. They were captured here in a moment of time, a moment of fleeting youth. I wonder how their lives turned out, in the almost 3 decades (insane) since this phone was taken, presumably in 1996. You're young only once, but by the time you realize it, you're already old. This album cover teleports you back to 1996, briefly, even if you weren't cognizant of that time period, it makes you feel like you were.
Japanese musicians never ever half-ass anything. They're all in. You can hear the high quality production and multi-layered musical arrangement. This is not a ealk in the park to make.

I discovered this band a few months ago and now I can't stop listening to them.
I work alone in an empty office building due to time zone issues, and have been playing City Pop as it isn't up in my face. This got recommended last night at yeah, it's great. I'm sorry I missed this in their 1990s glory.
Anyone else get blessed by the youtube gods in 2024?
Yup today
@@AA-yb5np meh too
Just got blessed by the algorithm gods 🙏🪐
By TH-cam God's do you mean our AI overlords?
because of youtube algorithm I found one of my favourites albums ever, thank you almeda for posting it
Very relaxing music. I feel so cozy lying in bed and listening to this after a stressful day ❤👍
I'm a 26 yo from Brazil and this is so good! I couldn't find a similar type of music that is similar to this album in Brazil , thanks youtube!
Same here but I m from Bengaluru
Ya'll literally the gods of bossa nova wym man
japanese acid jazz , thats wat ppl call it in the states .
Seicumé fia
Not the same, this bossa is more mentioned than played, and there's almost no "bop" in it.
It's giving The Cardigans' vibes, loved it.
but better
@@s.ferres4595 well, I think both are good
both have their roots in 80s City Pop
@@RuthwikRao lol the Cardigans aren't inspired by "City Pop." Stop saying "City Pop."
I love when youtube randomly recommends good less known music in the homepage, like some kind of a hidden treasure
This is infectious and addictive at the same time. I found it today and I can't stop listening to it.
what a cool, introspective album cover.
This album is such a beauty and gem. Thank you for posting this.
Spotify recommended me this then proceeded to tell me it wasn’t available in my country, thank u TH-cam uploader
Do you have a link to this on Spotify?
Spotify be drunk
The production on this is top notch. I don't know who is responsible but they're hired any day.
Edit: Internet says the band produced it. Well shit.
I was looking around trying to figure out if any of them are still active. Can't find anything. These albums are gonna be on heavy rotation in my house though.
@@numsiskit Following this in case someone finds something!
@@numsiskit "@shantanurao280" made a comment about the singer (4th post), no news about the rest of the group.
