  • Spicy creamy yogurt curry (dahi ki subzi) is my go-to-food for when I am running short of fresh veggies at home. This curry tastes amazing with roti, paratha, rice and naan! People often have trouble avoiding curdling of yogurt in curries. With the tips and tricks shared in the video, this will become a child's play

    Ingredients
    Yogurt/dahi (Thick, preferrably not sour) 1 cup
    Kalonji/Nigella seeds 1/4 tsp
    Jeera/Cumin seeds 1 tsp
    Methi dana/ Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
    Mustard seeds ( 1/2 tsp)
    Coriander seeds 1 tsp
    Whole red chili (2)
    Salt (as per taste)
    Red chili powder ( 1/3 tsp)
    Turmeric powder ( 1/2 tsp)
    Kashmiri red chili powder (3/4 tsp)
    Oil ( 2 tbsp)
    Onions (2 medium sized)
    Adrak paste/Ginger paste ( 2 tsp)
    Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)
    Sounf/ fennel seeds 1 tsp (optional)

    broken dal/lentil of anytype can also be made in pressure cooker in 5min in thick consistency similar to above recipe.

    Aaj se pehle dhi tadka bnane vakat muj se dhi hamesha fat jata tha.Ab aap duara btai tips ko use krungi. Aap ka recipee sikhane ka treeka bahut achha hai aur awaz meiN ek vishesh kashish.

    Mam can I use 1/2 curd and 1/2 chickpea flour, if yes then tell me how and when to use . Kindly suggest me , instead of using chickpea flour can use kale chana flour . Please tell me . Thanks reply soon

      Amica, you cannot use chickpea flour or kaala chana flour for this particular recipe because the flour needs to be cooked well, and here we have barely cooked the curd. It just rested with masalas with the heat off.
      If you wish to use a combination of curd and chickpea flour/kaala chana flour, then the result will be kadhi. Here's a video for making kadhi th-cam.com/video/YOUYagiuclY/w-d-xo.html
      Do check out the description of that video. You may add onions to that recipe ( in a similar way as in this recipe with just curd) If you do not wish to add pakoras to your curry you may add veggies or raita boondi. Veggies will need to be cooked whereas boondi is added at the time of serving.

      Haanji, isme paneer ya boiled potatoes add kar sakte hain, lekin unhe pehle onion masala ke saath thoda fry kar lei taaki unme thodi browning ho jaaye ( unka extra moisture bhi nakal jaayega) aur ve masaleedaar ho jaaye. Uske baad jaisa video mei dikhaya hai, dahi add karein

    I make this on regular basis, ofcourse the masalas as per my liking( I add very little sugar) but it goes very well with rice. Do try it. Its worth the effort.

      Vinutha, what looks like tomatoes in the gravy is the fried pink onion.
      If you were to add tomatoes in this gravy then the yogurt will curdle because tomato is a food acid

    Mam aapne dahi dalne k baad kya pan gas par dubara rakha hai. Thodi der pakana hai dahi ya nahi.

      Prashansa, maine dahi daalne ke baad pan dobara gas par nahi rakha hai. Pan mei pehle se hee jo heat thee ussi se dahi warm ho jaata hai

      Jasbir ji, sorry, I am in a different time zone, so aapka comment time se nahi dekha. Ghee definitely makes food tastes better, but in this recipe you don't really need to use ghee. Dahi has it's natural milk fats!! Do share your feedback whenever you make this dish
