When I was in high school, a girl had a scratch on her eyeball and when the teacher asked, she had to explain in front of the class that she was using a safety pin to separate her eyelashes. This is the first time I’ve heard of it since then.

Katherine Worden that’s really interesting. My esthetician told me it was actually perfect for neutralizing skin’s pH balance, especially when you don’t use toners that throw it way off where it should be. And it’s also much more fine than other exfoliators, making it less abrasive.

The ideal pH value of facial skin is about 5.5. Backing soda has a oh of 9. If skin is to acidic or alkaline it become more probe to bacteria. I used to use it but didn't connect it with my extra breakouts until I found this out. If you want a more balanced exfoliator, rice flour is a good option as well as adzuki bean powder. You can possibly use the baking soda if you balanced it out with an acid, but if you use something like lemon, it just stings and doesn't work well for sensitive skin.

Plain white sugar works well as an exfoliator. Just sprinkle a bit into the palm of your hand. Less pricey than sugar scrubs.

honestly coconut oil is a miracle worker. i usually put it on my face before i go to bed as well and my face is so nice & smooth when i wake up. make sure not to use too much though because then it just looks & feels greasy.
