It's always fun watching someone learn about TF2 for the first time, it's wackiness is truly something to behold, plus the great characters equal a lot of fun.
The jumps featured in how it feels to play soldier are fairly "non-insane" compared to the maps you can find on the dedicated rocket jumping speedrun server maps. The link that follows is a recommendation for a favourite video of mine from a highlight rocket jumping world record times channel, just for Kieran to see how crazy it can get: th-cam.com/video/xg3OKOSHpiY/w-d-xo.html
@@aged_mozzarella oh I'm fully aware of how crazy rocket jumping can get, he was just so impressed by a simple jump in this video that, relatively speaking, he's likely to find the rollouts in how it feels to play soldier pretty wild. It would definitely be a treat to see him react to some jump map speedruns or market garden frag clips (especially with the beggars or airstrike)
@@gekks5250 oh yeah I wasn't doubting your rocket jumping knowledge at all, I just wanted him to see the real deal too, you don't really get to do septuple bounces in pubs lol and yes I agree he should react to blindpyro as well
Aaand the reason why the Soldier is marked for death is because he's using the Escape Plan which is his melee weapon. It allows you to move faster the lower your health is but you get marked for death. I say this incase Kieran reads this.
Further note, Critical Hits deal triple damage (65 becomes 195) while Mini-Crits deal 35% increased damage (100 becomes 135). Also, minicrits can apply retroactively, example being you shoot a sticky without minicrits and then gain minicrits after, that sticky will benefit from the bonus damage.
@@ScrewBall105 Furthermore, crits and mini-crits don't take falloff, so past point blank range it's effectively more than 135% damage for most weapons.
So about the "does it do more damage at close range?" thing. Its what TF2 players call Damage Ramp Up, and Damage Fall Off. If you arent playing Demoman or Sniper, each weapon deals damage depending on how close or far away you are from your Target, so for Scout who has a Scattergun (which is just a better Shotgun), he wants to get up close and do his high burst damage at close range, but does decent damage at mid range. Hope this helps!
Also weapons like the shotguns and scattergun have pellet spread so at longer ranges more of your pellets are going to whiff, though one always goes right up the middle.

Skull above your head means youre "marked for death". It means that every attack, unless its a critical hit, is a mini crit. Which i believe is 1.25 the initial damage.
1:20 The skull above the soldier's head there is the icon for the marked for death status. Players with this mark take all damage as mini crits(1.5x). The soldier's equalizer and escape plan weapons apply this status to the user upon being drawn.

I have a video of me saying Ora Ora for one hour straight on this channel LOL, also I reacted to the first episode of stone ocean, but I'd be down to react to more JoJo!!! Diavolo Part 5 Respect!
there's a mechanic called damage rampup/falloff that applies to nearly every attack. For the most part, it's a +50%/-50% damage case for rampup and falloff based on proximity. minicrits will ignore damage falloff but accept rampup, and deal 35% more damage, and full crits will ignore both rampup and falloff, and deal 3x base damage. Scout has one of the exceptions. his scattergun has a 66% damage rampup. All shotguns have a base damage of 60, or 6 per pellet, before any stat card damage bonus or penalties apply. Normally this means 90 damage max per shot at point blank. Scout's primary can hit for 100, meaning in 1v1 he can kill anything but a heavy, or a soldier specifically wearing a battalions backup backpack, in two shots, as full ramped up shots deal 100 damage, and only those two cases have more than 200 hp in a 1v1 scenario. The skull you saw is called 'marked for death' it's an effect applied by a few weapons, which Scout has one of them. The effect will cause the person marked to take minicrit damage from every attack until it wears off, unless the attack is a full crit which will override this. Scout can apply it to an enemy with a weapon called the fan o war. A gunbai he swings like a baseball bat. It deals 75% less damage per hit, but marks the person hit for death speed in tf2 is measured in hammer units. 300 units is considered base speed. Scout is the fastest at 400 units. Spy and Medic are the only two classes besides scout with a faster speed than base, at 321. Pyro, Engie, and Sniper are all base speed. Soldier is at 240, demo is at 279, and heavy is at a whopping 231 10:35 That was the 'navy seals' copypasta being said real fast...and it was actually scout's VA reading it. Chiliofdestiny, you can find him here on YT.
When there's a skull above your head, it means you're "Marked for death" so you take mini-crit hits. He was using a weapon called The Escape Plan, when you pull it out you get marked for death
3:40 Yes. And not only because shotgun. There is a mechanic of damage fall off/rump up based on distance, and scatterguns are hugely affected by it. Also, distance in this equation is calculated always from player (regardless of the actual damage source) and always in moment of hit (regardless of player's position in moment of shot).
The skull thing above the soldier's head is a marked for death icon. There's certain weapons that mark you for death when you have them deployed. This is done to balance those certain weapons. Being marked for death means all damage you take while marked is mini-crit damage. Mini crits do 1.5x more damage than normal The weapon the soldier is holding is called the escape plan. It's main ability is it gives you a speed boost that's determined by how little health you have left. The lower your health is, the faster you go. It's meant to allow soldier to quickly escape from bad situations if he's on low health. To balance this ability, it also marks you for death which means you're extremely vulnerable while making your escape due to the increased damage you take
Fact: most scouts that have a lime or pink painted fast learner and hat tend to go down and out quickly as they were described as SCUNTS(bane of friendlies) Another thing to know that they mostly use either stock, force a nature, shortstop or the soda popper and they always use the fish And also scouts always have the schadenfreude taunt equipped no matter what
Rocket jumping is without a doubt one of the most unique mechanics in a first person shooter I HIGHLY recommend watching sound smiths Market gardener videos because I assure you when you see how a pro rocket jumps it just feels so . . . *yes*
1:24 He's holding one of pickaxes, that, I suppose it's called "Death Mark", means, that every damage from enemy players will be minicrit, but when Soldier's HP is low, when he holds Escape plan he gets faster and with equalizer he gives more damage.
9:16 As it currently is, Heavy is a generally stale class with the lowest skill ceiling. When each other class has gimmicks, tricks and changes in gameplay due to weapons, all the Heavy can do is walk, shoot boolet and occasionally throw sandwich to medics. Comment on your last statement about the TF2 community being friendly: for the most part, I'd say compared to many other communities, and more specifically Overwatch's community, it does tend to be laid back and casual. There will still be a fair number of individuals who will be egotistical and try their darndest to make you feel awful, but those moments are far and few between. I feel like many of the people in your community would be a nice first group to play with so that you're shown what the community is like most of the time while learning the ropes, at least when you feel comfortable playing with bots and understand the gameplay a bit more. One last comment: no, scout cannot sonar ping an enemy of his choosing.
Pharah and Soldier are very similar. Some OW players who have played TF2 before can easily pick up Pharah and land airshots that took years of muscle memory. The only sad thing about Pharah is she isn't as mobile as Soldier, Pharah has more verticality but covers less ground. If you wanna learn how to rocket jump try to watch either Nate Fox's how to rocket jump or Soundsmith's how to market garden basic
My suggestion is Madness Combat It can be found on TH-cam and Newgrounds Just be warned that the creator got demonetized pretty quick, so you ain't gonna make money off that
An anime recommendation I would give you is Hajime no Ippo. It's a boxing anime with a lot of comedy. The fights are what draw fans in, but the characters and their shenanigans between the matches are the real gold of the show.
THIS IS ON THE TOP OF MY LIST! This, Ghibli movies in terms of anime are some of the only super popular ones I just haven't watched over the years, so I may have to hop on this!
There is a system in the game called ramp-up and fall-off. Every weapon has a base damage however the further away you are the less damage you deal and the closer you are the more damage you deal. Most weapons have a ramp up of 50% however there are a few exceptions to this. Soldier's rockets only have 1.25% and scout's scattergun has 1.75% allowing him to deal up to 105 damage is one shot. and Sniper's sniper rifle does not have this always dealing 50 base damage. Oh right and scout's shotgun is called a scattergun in the game which is a made up gun specifically for tf2.
9:16 yeah, in competitive play certain classes are better than others. Now, there are two main formats, Highlander which is 9v9 with one person on each class and 6v6 with two Scouts, two Soldiers, a Demo, and a Medic (one of the extra Soldiers or Scouts will sometimes off class to other non meta Classes). When it comes to 6s, Heavy isn’t very good. People will sometimes switch off Scout or Soldier for Heavy to defend last point but besides that Heavy is just too big and slow to actually get much done. This is because TF2 at a competitive level is about speed and damage, if your class cannot keep up then they won’t fair well. Here’s a little ordered tier list for you to understand what the 6s meta looks like is this S: Scout, Medic, Soldier, Demo A: Sniper B: Pyro C: Heavy, Engie D: Spy
Your streams are tons of fun to watch bro, keep up the hard work . A great to watch is Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising... Some of my favourite movies of all time.
If you haven't already seen it, the only anime I ever recommend to people is Full Metal Alchemist, both the 2003 original and the 2012 Brotherhood versions are phenomenal and diverge to tell different stories. (Plus the film ending/tie-ins for both.) For more TF2 related stuff I recommend Crash Maul's "Rise of the Epic Scout" and "Like White on Spy" as well as the Winglet's "Fedora Chronicles" series.
@@ChocolateKieran Is the unlisted playlist under your main channel? Because I explored every nook and cranny of your uncut one and couldn’t find it (wether I need to update my app or not idk) But thank you man!
heavy isn't a bad class, a good heavy can be an invaluable asset to his team and he is what any effective push revolves around, and he is the second corner stone of any defensive line, next to the engineer. problem is that even the best heavy can't save a team that is shit. heavy isn't very popular because of this, many other classes, especially the mobile ones, can still have fun when their teams suck, but heavy needs that support because he is very susceptible to getting back stabbed or head shot, he needs his team watching his back, heavy likes to have a medic, because running for a health kit is often not an option for him, heavy needs a good spy or counter sniper to keep the enemy sniper on his toes and while he can usually deal with spies himself, finding the time to do so is hard while the enemy team is upon him.

If you wanna learn how to rocket jump try to watch either Nate Fox's how to rocket jump or Soundsmith's how to market garden basic
My suggestion is Madness Combat
It can be found on TH-cam and Newgrounds
Just be warned that the creator got demonetized pretty quick, so you ain't gonna make money off that
sniper spy scout and engie have 125 hp/ medic has 150 hp/ pyro and demoman have 175 hp/ soldier has 200 and heavy has 300 hp
it is crazy that many overwatch players don't really know what TF2 is even though TF2 is basically the og overwatch
tf2 vs overwatch: but explained with fruit is might be a fun watch for you
As a 500 hr heavy, I don't think it's trash in public games. As long as you pick your areas to fight, anticipate, and spy-check often, u can dominate
tracer : uses speed machines and somehows reverse idk idk
scout : fast boi
Guys I think someone is becoming a tf2 fan
You need to watch "Wrench in the Gears" SFM Animation, it's amazing
Movie-wise, I’d love to see reactions to Miyazaki movies like Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle! So many great films!
Honestly I love anime so much and have seen barely any Ghibli, so I feel like its necessary! These are at the top of my list to react to for sure 😁
Bro your videos never fail to entertain me❤ please make more of these
There is a system in the game called ramp-up and fall-off.
Here’s a little ordered tier list for you to understand what the 6s meta looks like is this
S: Scout, Medic, Soldier, Demo
A: Sniper
B: Pyro
C: Heavy, Engie
D: Spy
The bad thing is sniper mains ALWAYS kills scouts because they can bodyshot and kill em instantly
Your streams are tons of fun to watch bro, keep up the hard work . A great to watch is Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising... Some of my favourite movies of all time.
4:28 Not all. Mostly spies.
Oh hell yeah, LazyPurple constantly reignights my love for TF2.
Yknow, you could have tried to use the correct icon, Mr. Nigeria.
Bro is the next Shadow voice actor
they should have got me for the movie 😤
You should watch the video “Live and Let Spy”
It's amazing just watching someone get invested into the TF2 community. I wonder how you'll react to a video by someone like Uncle Dane, or Soundsmith
I like the outro is OP for tensei slime well a remix anyway
nah man, see thru walls is wall hacks, that was pure map awareness
you should defintely check out solar light, he does very cool tf2 stuff that will leave you dazered and flbaeergassted
Some weapons in tf2 have different taunts and can even kill people
im waiting for "Overwatch player plays tf2"
That was the last video! :D
If you haven't already seen it, the only anime I ever recommend to people is Full Metal Alchemist, both the 2003 original and the 2012 Brotherhood versions are phenomenal and diverge to tell different stories. (Plus the film ending/tie-ins for both.)
For more TF2 related stuff I recommend Crash Maul's "Rise of the Epic Scout" and "Like White on Spy" as well as the Winglet's "Fedora Chronicles" series.
Talking of films, u gotta react to any Edgar wright films u haven’t seen
Shaun of the dead, Hot Fuzz, The worlds end, Scott Pilgrim vs the world
0:30 Lest hard time is caused by the video not existing. :/ Checked the 2nd channel and all of it is anime game related.
Did you check the unlisted TF2 playlist? th-cam.com/video/8JXPS4H4JlM/w-d-xo.html
@@ChocolateKieran Is the unlisted playlist under your main channel? Because I explored every nook and cranny of your uncut one and couldn’t find it (wether I need to update my app or not idk)
But thank you man!
the only respectable reaction channel
heavy isn't a bad class, a good heavy can be an invaluable asset to his team and he is what any effective push revolves around, and he is the second corner stone of any defensive line, next to the engineer.
problem is that even the best heavy can't save a team that is shit.
heavy isn't very popular because of this, many other classes, especially the mobile ones, can still have fun when their teams suck, but heavy needs that support because he is very susceptible to getting back stabbed or head shot, he needs his team watching his back, heavy likes to have a medic, because running for a health kit is often not an option for him, heavy needs a good spy or counter sniper to keep the enemy sniper on his toes and while he can usually deal with spies himself, finding the time to do so is hard while the enemy team is upon him.
Honestly , if you finish the "How it feels" series, check out "Why TF2 is a timeless masterpiece" it... really shows
Watch The Bolted Behemoth,Live and let spy,The Red the Blu and the ugly, thats one whole story and it will be continued.
Congratulations on getting the like goal
The section where he talks fast, to hear it, use speed x.25
The sniper one is very cool
I love your videos ❤
kieran: "i think all of the TF2 community are weebs like me"
my good sir, have you seen the spy mains?
Yes, you deal extra damage from close up
