Monovalent vs Divalent, simplified!

I really just wanted to share what you need to know about valence for this particular occasion, there is more that goes into it but really this is all you need to know about valence!
Ions that carry a single charge positive or negative will be labeled momovalent (one binding site available)
Ions that care a double charge like Ca2+ or SO4 2- would be called Divalent (2 binding sites available)

*Monovalent - Having valency of 1*
Ex - Chlorine , fluorine
*Divalent - Having valencey of 2*
Ex - Oxygen , Silicon
*Trivalent - Having valency of 3*
Ex - phosphorus
*Tetravalent- Having valency of 4*
Ex - Carbon
*Tetra and tri valent are those whom he said Multivalent ( as these are those elements who have valency more than 2 )*

@@nabeeliqbal9266 No , valency of an element is the measure of its combining capacity with other atoms when it forms chemical compounds or molecules .
Eg - Valency of Cl is 1 , Na is 1

Eg - Cl valence electrons are 7
But its valency is 1
