G'day William, glad you had a great weekend and a wonderful train ride into that location along the coast line, l have rode that cable rout a few times and it never disappoints, it's much better when the sun is shining and warm, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

My grandparents took the train to Portland to the old station. They always took the older diesel locomotive. I reckon it was an F7.

Good to promote a great railway and lot of people dont even know its there
Been on it a few times and the museum worth a visit for anyone watching this video.
The model of the jetty was at the stawell model railway exhibition in about 2000 while still being build.
Portland model railway club also held 2 or 3 model railway exhibitions in the cable tramway museum

I grew up in Melbourne, but have raised a family in San Francisco, which still has cable cars of course, running on major roads through the city, and you are allowed to stand up on the step around the outside, and many people do.
I'm sorry the nanny culture in my home state bans the popular practice, although frankly I'm surprised it hasn't been outlawed here, given the fact that women have ruled this state in many major government positions for the last thirty years, and the place is no longer the Wild West that's for sure.
I've seen it become the most regulated state in the country during the time I've been here, and half a million people moved to Texas and other freer states in the last few years.

Rather than winge on here about being stripped of your civil liberties, move to Alabama. Like California they have the death penalty, 62% voted for Donald Trump and of course they have the all important open carry.
Moving there should fit in with your 'god given' right wing sensibilities shouldn't it?
