    They are lovely bikes, I've owned a few, the only downside is no ABS and Traction control, which you don't miss until you've had it, It's what I call a free bike, own it for a few years and sell it for the same or more than you paid, Sweet.

      Agree about missing the ABS on older bikes, but I still love these Triumphs :) and as you said.... they certainly retain their values, and I am almost certain you will see prices actually raise over the next few Years for mint low mileage examples. I have an amazing barn find Triumph coming to the channel soon, so keep an eye out for that too!

      Hmm, did they make different models? Mine has ABS it’s an 01, I know it because I’ve had my share of sudden stops and it doesn’t lock the wheel up it pulses the brake. No traction control is fun 🤩

    I inherited a triumph daytona 955i t595 from my dad 5 years go. He loved that bike and owned a couple of these over the years. I plan to bring it on the road this Summer and cant wait to hear the stunning 3-Cylinder and do some nice trips. And in my opinion the design of this bike is timeless (Daytona or Speed triple)

    Left off riding a Norton Dominator quite built when life and love took me in a different direction. Thought I’d pick up an Atlas in retirement. Then a Commando then a Commando with a built engine. Discovered Hinckley Triumphs. Chased Speed triples. Decided the Daytona might be a better bike for me.
    I just acquired a single owner 2002 Daytona 955i in silver. For $5100! Could have gone cheaper but this one is immaculate and carries a Matt Capri tune.
    Speed trips got a broader power band for the street while the Daytona got the power up top in the rev range. the ST might have shorter gearing to keep better acceleration, sacrificing speed above above about 120 mph in exchange.
    A 955i Daytona is faster than a 131 Stage 4 HD in the quarter by about a quarter second.
    The 250 kph rice rockets can have the top end from about 158 mph to 185 mph. I prefer a bike that doesn’t lug in 2nd gear below 80 or 90.
    Being able to do a ton and a half on a proper British bike, 21st century style,oo is enough for me.
    I would have been happy with an ST. But I am overjoyed about the fun I can have throughout the entire range of the Daytona.

      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm lucky enough to have owned both the ST's and both the Speed Triple (955i and 1050) and a couple of 955i Daytona's now (all reviewed on my channel) and never had a bad word to say on any of them, just love the value for money, ease of maintenance, and just the smile the noise puts on my face :)

    I had a 1996 Daytona 900. No traction control or ABS. It was a fabulous bike to ride, lots of torque, great on fuel if you gently rode it and didn't accelerate hard and kept it under 5000rpm or 80mph. It was better on fuel than my Yamaha 600 Fazer. 50 mpg on triumph and 40mpg on Fazer. It had heavy standard exhausts but it was being ridden 100 miles a day round trip . I've always loved the speed triples but shock linkages need stripping and regressing every 12000 miles.

    • @Ian-bq7gp

      Those old 900 and 1200 trophy's do huge mileages and seem very solid. Those nissin brakes are very good. Put on Michelin touring tyres, they grip and last well. I had Dunlop's and continentals when I bought it. I didn't like them or even the Bridgestones.

    Pretty sure this is a left over with a derivative of the old 885 engine just over bored. The newer 955 engine was a new engine that was used in the 2000 Daytona onwards which had 147hp. And arrived in the speed triple 2002 onwards i think, and was returned to 120hp.
    Pretty sure this is the engine used in the old triple Trident/Trophy from about 92ish onwards.
    This motor is ment to have more than it's fair share of sprag clutch problems.

    That's Triumph 'Neon Blue' - debuted in 2001 on the Speed Triple 955i and featured until 2006 on the 1050. The wheels look as if they've been powder coated white - the standard ones were dull silver / aluminium.

    Pretty standard that naked bikes have a different tune to their sports bike cousins. Usually for more midrange and low down torque as the super high speeds are wasted on a naked bike.

    Hi the Speed Triple shares the same engine as the sprint they are tuned for torque more use around town than flat out speed they have different pistons ,piston liners are iron not Alloy , different cams , and electronic tuning Speed Triple ans Sprint have a lower rpm range the ecu switches the injectors off just over 9.5 thousand revs , but i believe you can raise thr RPM limit with TUNE ECU so its the same rev limit as a Daytona . ? I wonder what the difference would be like back to back after you up the limit .

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I understand (which could be wrong of course) the T509 used the 885i from 1997 to 1998 then changed to the 955i but retained the T509 shape, and in 1999 the newer shape with digital dash came onto the market, so I assume there were a few late registered older shape T509 with the 955i engine, but this is a 2001 so makes things a bit more confusing. In my mind the thing that denotes the T509 vs the 955i is simply the dash and specs? but I could as I said... be totally wrong :)

    • @neartabneartab4678
      @neartabneartab4678 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes The new models with the newer shape and the digital dash came out during 2001, with a different 955 engine.
      The first 955i models were released at the end of 1998, and the early ones were still called T509. Mine is from 1999 and is already called T595 (as a daytona).
      A problem on this bike is that the rear brake is not efficient enough to be useful in curves. It's because of the pedal not giving enough leverage. I replaced the plate with a 1050 one, the feeling is a little better (with the same master cylinder), but the aesthetics change (you have to replace the whole rearsets, and no way to keep the "sharky things" in place).
