I have a P2000 in .40SW. It is an excellent gun and makes for a great CCW piece. I like the .40SW caliber as it hits hard. You really can't go wrong with this gun, unless you're averse to DA/SA.
I got brainwashed by marketing gimmicks on sizes and ammo counts. After dust settled I realized HK P2000SK LEM was the best subcompact so I’m back to my P2000SK for daily CCW.
I have standard P2000 in 9mm and sometimes use it as my winter time CCW as its easy enough to conceal under a jacket, however a little too big for the summer time wearing a t-shirt and shorts so I carry my Glock 43X instead. I do absolutely love it tho so I am therefore looking to get the SK at some point for my summer time CCW.
I sent mine to Bill Springfield. He reduced the take-up and the reset. I love my P2000. I can't comprehend how this is snappy in 9mm. I have them in 9mm, 40S&W, and I carry one in 357 Sig. My gun eats it and barely moves. This gun is a cupcake! It is small AND soft shooting. It is a perfect carry gun.
Great intro, this is a category of firearm that is fantastic yet lost in a sea of striker fired micro guns or Glocks. I have the PX4 CC and a CZ P09, there is a group of die hard hammer fired DA/SA owners that understand this is the perfect defensive carry weapon. I’m pondering a P30 or P2000. Although I may simply upgrade my P09 performance to get close to my LTT PX4. Great video.
The Double action acts as a safety which is why it’s so heavy. If you pull it in DA it was no accident. The Single Action is the best trigger on the market.
The key goes in a slot inside the grip at the base. When turned, it blocks the hammer axle from moving downward, which prevents the hammer from pulling all the way back to cocked, effectively locking out the gun Its an integral gun lock
V2 is a great variation, has no decocker or safety, good for conceal carry with the double action first initial pull, reset is short following after first shot. Also if you have the v2 variation you can install light trigger and shorter reset
I have an LEM P2k. I'm in the process of putting the LEM trigger in the rest of my HK pistols. It really is the only way to go. Replace the stock mag release for the extended on on the HK45C.
I sneezed on one of my HK carrying cases and blew all the black finish off of it!😆 Been trying to find a P-2000 SK to handle but they seem pretty rare around here. My 4" VP-9 will be for 'cold weather' carry. The P-2000SK looks like a great warmer weather carry pistol.
... The P2k is an awesome gun and is just as robust as the uspc, p30, and every other well tested HK pistol.. I am really loving the FDE color on your P2k👍.... I’ve never seen a factory colored P2k and it looks great!!.. This was a great video and covered a lot of good info.. I would love to pick up one like this but only in LEM... Then put in a GG reduced reset kit that costs like 90bucks, and can install easy and in short time👍... that really does make a good difference in the reset, and is very noticeable 👍.... All my HK hammer fired pistols are lite LEM, and I love that LEM trigger... 😬👍🇺🇸
HK makes a CDA kit that will reduce the pre-travel by 30%, I highly recommend the parts. Too bad it only fits the P series of pistols, they don't make this kit for the USP/HK45.
P2000 are great carry pistols. I have a LEM model that I sent to Teufelshund Tactical and had him install GG flat trigger and short reset kit. He did a great job, brought the pull weight down to 5lbs.
I bought my P2000 used at a gun show so I wasn't expecting any valid warranty. He's a HK certified armorer according to his website so I would think that any warranty would remain valid, but I'd reach out to him to confirm that.@@jasonroberts9357
I just bought a p2000 in 9mm and I have only taken it out to one range day so far. My initial thought was I don’t like the trigger pull and over all I was not very impressed. This left me in disappointment on my recent purchase. After watching this I have hope that with more use the pistol will grow on me and it will become a valuable member of my collection.
I bought one a month ago. Took out to the range only one time, and my thoughts was exactly like yours. Just replace hammer spring 10lbs and it seem much better. Can’t wait to go the range tomorrow.
@@rustyshackelford1230 Just came back from the range 🥺 still very hard to control. I also tried my friend's P2000, and his P2000 is not an LEM. I shot much better with his. I saw one of the TH-camrs, he said with the HKs you need to practice much more to get it zone in.
That's a great pistol ! You can really see the progression of how HK went with their designs in the P2000 . It has a slide that kinda looks like a USP , a mag release of the USP , decocker of a P30 , slide release of a P30 and HK45 , and a grip like the HK45c . If pistols were alive the P2000 would be the missing link of how the USP evolved into the P series and proving once and for all Charles Darwin's Theory Of Evolution : ) The key is for a internal lock inside the mag well .
I have one in 357 Sig. I carry it daily. The sides of the grip give grip without eating my skin. I focus my grip on the front and back more than the sides. Mine is standard SA/DA. The recoil is manageable in 40 or 357. The 9mm must be a cupcake. The trigger on the USPC IS nicer in SA. The reset is shorter and the take-up is shorter. The P2000 is 100% ambidextrous. The USP is not totally ambidextrous.
Its actually the key for the patented HK Lock-Out Device, located inside the magazine well. Once engaged, it locks the handguns action by blocking any movement of the trigger, hammer, and the slide. It will not fire until unlocked. Page 18 of the manual.
I really like mine, a V3, but that DA pull just does not seem to get better for me. At 15 yards with a 12-inch circumference target, the first DA shot will hit somewhere on paper, but I never know where it will be. Every shot after that is consistent with how I shoot any similar sized pistol.
I could do one, but there's nothing really special about cleaning and oiling the gun. I generally wipe everything as best I can with paper towels. Run a bore snake through the barrel. Then a SMALL amount if oil where ever seems appropriate. Generally the slide rail in the frame and where the barrel and slide rub together. If you still want, I'll do itm
@@theevenstevenchannel8220 No need then. I found a clean and lubricate video for a P30 that was pretty close. Thanks for the reply and the thorough videos on the P2000. Much appreciated!
Grease is slicker and it won't migrate when you wear it. Don't use a bunch but if you use too much, you won't know it until you shoot it enough to heat it up.
In the first twenty seconds you answered the question asked in the title. What’s the reason to continue listening if we know the answer is yes, it’s still a good gun?
I have probably shot an HK USP Compact, but not a lot and not in a while. I think the ergonomics are better and it has a better accessory. I think the P2000 is more practical and thr USP is more 1990s cool nostalgia.
@yasser gym , I own both. The P2000 has adjustable grip size, ambidextrous slide release and decocker. The grip is IWB friendly. The USP Compact has a nicer trigger, aggressive checkering on the front and back, abrasive side panels, one sided control lever (safety & decocker), and one sided slide release. I carry the P2000. My full sized USP40 only gave me issues with steel cased Wolf ammo.
No proper safety check. Not cool. Nevertheless the DA trigger is there as an extra- added precaution (aka “safety”). If you pull the trigger, you mean to “pull the trigger.” You are not supposed to run steel (and aluminum) ammo in the P2000. Read, always read the manual. By the way, the key is for an internal mag well lock. Nice review otherwise.

The HK P2000 is NOT good 20 years later-it is EXCELLENT 20 years later!!!! Period-end-of-story.
What’s the purpose of cocking it and decalking it to holster? This is my first gun in this DA/SA format
Safety...carrying a cooked pistol with no manual safety engaged is alot more risky. If you decock it the trigger pul reverts to DA
You mean to tell me it comes with a silica pack also!!! What a country!!🤣
is that green color?
Thanks for the review. Seems cool. I like the position of the decocker, but the V3 DA/SA seemed no where nice as the sigs (SP2022)
