  • My thoughts of the original holy trinity (Chris Reeve, Hinderer, and Strider) and the "new" holy trinity (Koenig, Brown, and Holt). The evolution of the knife game is real.

I personally feel like the current trinity would still include the arius, but also the oz Rosie and either the spk lamia or the brown fsd (any variant).

I keep hearing about the SPKs. Gotta try one out in the future!

      That’s a trinity in itself

Shiro, Grimsno, and Arius. The Trinity must be obtainable, otherwise they are not as relevant. Lots of small makers are excellent but not ready for the mass market.

@@thewaterwarrior9817definitely agree. The attention to detail on Shirogorovs really set them apart, not only on aesthetics but also their functionality.

Solid choices there. Having all these knives I have to agree with your new holy trinity! Fsd-i my current favorite and in pocket now!

Not a Strider fan but that one you have is something special...

That Holt is the one I’d want to use . Long enough blade with no choil in the way to cut potatoes or meat , looks great , sounds great, titanium linerlock , shiro -ish but different.

I totally agree with you. I also think the SPK Lamia is up there with all those beauties. My all time favorite but it's probably the hardest knife to find is th VC edge interface.

Shirogorov should be in there somewhere. They set the standard for modern action? Enjoy your content. Thanks

They are nice, but the oz Rosie is MUCH more popular right now.

Def agree. I’ve had a Shiro before and they are sweet

As much as I love my gen 4 Arius, it falls short to my Shiro Hati. The Arius just doesnt have the same level of detail on any of it. Detent is like glass breaking on the Shiro and the action is less of a guillotine, and is more of a controlled smooth drop. Thats not to say the Arius isnt top tier by no means, just I dont feel like its as perfected as the Shiro.

Definitely hard to pick a trinity. Seems like there are so many sub categories to folders these days that I would almost have to narrow the use case down first. We really are living in the hay day of our hobby.

For me at the moment it's the Grimsmo Norseman, Koenig Arius and the Oz Machine Company Rosevelt, (with a nod to the CKF Evo 2.0), although I don't yet own a Brown, or a Holt, and I'm guessing I'll feel the same way about them, if and when I track them down.

IMO any folding knife trinity must include a Shiro and a Grimsmo.

I was chasing another knife at that time. One in, one out as they say. But I want another one back in my collection! It’s such a great knife!

For current makers i would say Koenig, Oz, and Medford can't be beat. There are others as good, but for high end production models, nobody is better in that price range. Im only talking American, because everyone knows Shiro are probably as good as anything around 1000

I would love to try a Medford one of these days. The design aesthetic is a little unattractive to me but I keep hearing good things about them so gotta give it a go! Which model do you recommend for me to try?

the truth is a lot of our perceptions of knives are based on price. I love the Koenig but maybe if it was $200 we wouldn't like the action as much. price colors our perceptions and knives from Chris reeve are still on a practical level better.
