Brother you & Bhabhiji are the biggest lover of Dar, through you we are enjoying like roaming live, one thing for sure , your memory is razor sharp 👌👍😀
Thanks for these videos. I grew up in Dar and went to school at D. A. Girls’ School. We lived opposite the Juma mosque on Kitumbinin street and the jamat khana in town.
Morning Altaf bhai just saw this video and omg you are going thru the street on which I lived in. The jamat wedding hall and Royal hotel on right and cameo to the left. Unfortunately it looks like our building on the right at the end of the road is gone😔. This is before you turned left to go to Nazimoja. Bahadur bhai's highway school of motoring was on the right. Was such a lovely man him and his wife who taught and helped pass driving to many people. Thank you bhai
Used to live on ring street bear circle, in Dar-es-slaam printers building. Now probable it is called Jahmuri Street. ? Left country in 1962, couldn't revisit but you brought so many memories back of those days.
That was cameo cinema, Kindly shoot main eating joints with price Example, sno cream, mix, madaf, natasha, poornima , what ever you like it will be very much welcome thanks & Asante Sana
Thank you so much for sharing this video. We used to live in that building across from Total gas station... it used to be called esso. Above jariwalla store next to KitKat as you mentioned the word brought back memories. I was very young when I left Dar for states. Snow cream ice parlor with Disney theme/chair situated like towns in Europe. My dad used to take me. I hope that Disney clock is still there...
Thank you Altaf. You have revived happy memories of many whom I have forwarded you links and videos. They have all loved it and conveyed their thanks and appreciation of you doing for all who lived in Dar Es Salaam. One thing you missed out mentioning was the DAYA PUNJA LIBRARY.~~ how could you have missed it!. Never Mind, you can catch up with that on your next trip. Wish you both a safe flight back to UK. Thank you once again.
You just missed passing by my house, opposite mnazimoja park, we lived in Abri House. Marvellous marvellous... so realistic that i almost shouted,,, look , stop... go straight... when you stopped at the red light after passing anatoglo.... opposite the twin buildings , i think, habib poonja buildings..
Thanks a lot for your videos on Dar..I was born at Dar,wayback in 1952 and migrated to India during 1964..kabisa..Did my primary schooling at Mtendeni and my growing up at Dar, has been one the finest periods in my life so far..Spent every evening at Hanuman shala grounds getting boiled chana-batata on every Friday, then visited ,2temples and being a Maharashtrian, spent rest of the evening at Maratha Mandal near Alimanga buildings.Attended Nathabhai's Pvt school in Alimanga Mansion on way to temples. The Dar of my times can still be seen, but lot,lot has changed during last 50+yrs.Planning to revisit the place.Searching for a low cost lodging/boarding place for about 10days..Paying guest facility wud be the best..!!Kindly suggest.I am already trying to trace few of classmates who have settled at Dar.
I went to the same school and I think we both could be in the same class. I migrated to UK in 1964. Being so young I can't remember any of my class mate.
Morning bhai when you next go to Dar can you turn right instead of turning left to go to Nazimoja as the entrance of our building was towards there. Just wanted to see how that side has changed. Thank you
@@AltafDaya Thank you so much bhai. It would be nice when people read your comments. Wonder if anyone remembers Bahadur bhai Bawa the owner of Highway School Of Motoring and where he is now. I'm sure he was Ismaili. Some many people passed with him.
Thanks for the memories Altaf. I attended St Joseph’s till 1964. It’s still there and I see it occupies nearly the whole block. At about 5:37 just under the traffic light and where you did a left turn we had a Chinese restaurant till about 1971, Had several friends live in the building to your left at the traffic light.. I remember going to Chox for movies. Do you remember Cosy Cafe? They had great samosas. I remember going to Sno Cream when they first opened, can’t believe they’re still there even if in a new building.
Thank you so much for uploading your video touring the Dar City I was there from 1999 till 2006. Maybe you know Mr. Shiraz Jessa of Dar es Salaam Glass. He was my employer
On Bibi Titi Mohd Rd the main cross road was once known as Kichwele St (now Uhuru St). You then went past Princess Hotel well known as a relief joint for the foreign sailors playing discotheque music all day. Further up is a landmark newly built mosque which sadly you referred in passing only. In our pioneering years in East Africa, we lived as a united society never having a grudge against anyone's race, creed, religion, sect, sub-sect etc. So please let's be equitable like the old days. Love for All hatred for None. Many thanks.
So true... we were just one community back then. I can only imagine how much better things were during the earlier days. I grew up in Kariakoo in the 70s and 80s and I loved it.
Thank you so much for these videos. Reminiscing old days we used to live opp Tanganyika flats. Can you please do some videos of oyster bay and rugantino etc thank you 🙏
