Vevor thickness planer REVIEW

  • Vevor reached out to me and asked me to do a quick review on their thickness planer. This is a woodworking channel and I thought this could be interesting, especially with the cost of machines being what they are in this economy. This is also my first review that I’ve done, so bear with me.
I'd like to make it crystal clear that Vevor isn't paying me for this review. They supplied me with the machine but I do not make any money from them for making this, nor do I make any money from the amazon link provided below.
If you'd like to get 10% off, use this link and enter the discount code 10S88534 → amzn.to/3OuffxZ
The code is valid up to 08/14/2022!
The link has it listed as "Mophorn Thickness Planer", but I did get the link from the manufacturer and they have confirmed it is the correct one (if you zoom in on the image you can see the vevor name on the machine).

For your first review, you did a great job. Better than so many others out there who have been doing reviews for a long time! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I value the things your craftsmanship and ingenuity. You have an interesting perspective on what's possible in a workshop so I would also enjoy your opinions in reviews. Please more of this!
Oh... as a Dutchy I would appreciate it if your reviews would mostly cover machines and tools that are also available in Europe, like this one.

Hi and thanks for the review, I just purchased one this week for my dad’s shop we ran a few pieces of wood through it yesterday I guess it’s a little learning curve on it we are neither one master carpenters by no means so I agree with you 100% for just us like we are just starting out with it I think it’s fine. Thanks for the time showing what you know about these particular machines😊

I'm all cool with doing reviews. Its a nice way to get yourself some tools and if you don't wanna store/keep them in your shop give it to another wood worker or hell one of us. lol keep the reviews honest and I think they would be good. Even if generally I don't buy much new. I got myself a craftsman 12.5 planer for $30 bucks at a flea market another $20 for blade and it makes just as much of a mess as new.

I've been wanting a thickness planer for ages but never had money to pull the trigger on one. I'm hoping to get one this tax season so this is very helpful to me as I need more budget options. There's nothing wrong with reviewing tools especially if they let you be honest I say embrace the opportunities as they come up.

Thanks for this review. Am about to buy my first planer. This one on Amazon fits my budget!
    --- update ---
Bought it. Assembling was easy, though I had to verify one or 2 things to male sure I was doing it right.
Tested to see if it works.
Will give an update as soon as I've done some works.

Great starter unit for the hobbiest/Weekend Wood Warrior, doing light weight thickness planing. I noticed at stand assembly, there were holes in the bottom of the legs, and this makes it easier to mount the unit to a plywood base board with locking casters and use the holes on the legs with one one the caster pads! A portable tool makes a handy tool!
I have an '80's Delta 12" HD unit I got for almost nothing. Couldn't pass on it. I built custom cabinets and furniture 45 years ago to pay for college, I am familiar with planers...😁!
If the manufacturer is just giving you the tool, for a solid and honest, no holds barred review, do so. If there's anything "attached" , strings, ropes, and yuck, tell them thanks for the chance, but NO thanks! I like your honesty! Thanks!

I scored my DeWalt 735 w the stand extensions and an extra set of knives for $499 brand new a year ago. Still not a production machine by any means but a big step up from something like this.

As long as you are allowed to give an honest review, I have no problem with you doing them. It gives us exposure to what's out there from someone whose opinion we've grown to trust. If it's a paid promotion, just make sure that's clear. I want you to find ways to make money at this so you keep filming things. :)

I bought the Vevor product after watching this and other reviews, It arrived in good time and I will intended to take it to the house we're renovating this weekend and give it a go,
Unfortunately, as well as receiving the product and some space blades I also received an invoice for import duty into Switzerland. Given that delivery was included in the price I am very pissed off (even before trying the thing).
I have contacted Vevor customer service and got an auto response with a copy of the invoice (so clearly a not very intelligent bot provided their reply.
I am seriously considering sending the thing back and steering well clear of these people in future.

How hard is it to change the knives? How much do replacement knives cost and are they double sided are the things I would be interested in for comparison. I plane alot of wood high in silicates like teak and ash, so I change knives often. Thankyou for your review just the same.

Is it a dual post or 4 post mechanism? I find the snipe is much lower on 4 post planers, I would stay away from the two post planers, they have a rocking issue that causes more snipe.

The trouble is that Vevor do not sell parts but will exchange/repair machine if in warranty. Here's the problem, I damaged my blades by hitting a hidden small staple and now leaves 2 very slight lines on my timber. Yes they sand out easily but what if the blades hit a nail or screw , the machine becomes unusable if the warranty has ended. Is the Scheppach or Draper 13" planer the same build as they look virtually the same machine.

I have recently just heard of this name, Vevor. How many blades is this one your using? I’m looking at the four blade.
They also make glass top in counter stovetops. Which will be here Wednesday. Looking forward to trying this and this wood planer you share

Good review of the product. I thought your review of opening the box and directions was lacking based on my experience. I was hoping your review would enlighten me as to what the metal bar with fabricated ends was for, since I have no clue and the directions don't even mention it that I can see. Also, the English in the manual is cryptic (I'm assuming based in a foreign language and run thru a translator app without follow up editing). And all the instruction specs are in mm so I had to convert for minimums, Max's, etc..
Just a little feedback but thanks for the video

I don't oftern do reviews on things I've been gifted, but occasionally if there is something interesting about the tool or I've had a genuine need for it I will. There are not many low-end thickness planers so finding one that is functional would be good for those after a cheaper option.

I agree that the Vevor Thickness planer is a good buy, but If you have any problem with the unit like I did, you are out of luck getting service. I used it several times before it broke. The feed roller stopped turning. I called Vevor for service and they told me that I would have to find a someone locally to repair it. I got 1 estimate and informed Vevor of the cost and they said no. In the end I accepted a return of my money 90%. After a month of searching the unit I finally found the problem. The gear the connects to the feed roller broke. Now I am trying to find a replacement gear.

    • @jamesglenn2732
      @jamesglenn2732 ปีที่แล้ว

Brother same thing happened to me. The feed rollers don't have bearings, just aluminum blocks with holes drilled out for the rollers to ride in and they were not greased. I had to beat the roller out of it and grease them up, in still looking for a machine shop to fab the gears. Good luck to ya.

When making a review of tools, please check on availability of replacement parts. I bought a Vevor planer and can't find replacement blades. After contacting Vevor, I am told that they don't make the blades available as a seperate thing. So what I have is an inexpensive disposable tool.

  • @stevemorris3710

The discount code "I think it's only going to last for a week or two" - Much like Vevor's products. There's a reason they have to pay channels to promote them, and they are never seen on the channel again after a short period.

I bought the newest 2000w 3 blade planer and after four uses and maybe half an hour altogether the blade shaft dropped due to the axel breakage near ball bearing. Now they want me to fix it and sending a shaft assembly to which I said no. Probably one of the bearings is loose and the shaft cover broken, it is possible that the transmission is also somehow damaged. I don't even have tools to fix it. The planer needs to be replaced but I don't think they will never do it. Stay away from this junk if you're even a tiny bit serious of your tools.

  • @jamesglenn2732
    @jamesglenn2732 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Avoid this machine. I got the 12" and its a major pile of crap. It broke within 20 min. It doesn't have bearings for the feed rollers, just holes drilled thru blocks of aluminum, they never greased them and it seized up. There really is no customer service( they never returned my emails. As a result one of the cogs the drive chain rides on sheared off and since Customer service won't get back to me( over 6 months now..I have to find a machine shop to fabricate the part. It made out of the cheapest meatals. Don't buy this pile of crap. They won't even allow my one star review to post on their site.
