At the beginning of the video, were they about to say "all-american rejects." They're my 2nd favorite band, next to Switchfoot that is. These guys play so well.
Little fun fact: this video was uploaded nearly a month before I was born and now I'm about to turn 17 and jamming out to this stuff all the time. Crazy right?
Wow, they have a GREAT live sound! He has that kind of voice where he could sing something in the studio and nail it on the first take. I don't know much about Switchfoot, but i've heard them throughout my life.
It is a business and they have to make a living...that said I think their music always reflects their heart much more than their "wallet"...I think their heart shows clearly not only in their music but in the way they treat people. Switchfoot's & Jon's songs like Mercy's War, White as Snow, In Love, The House of God Forever are just beautiful. I also love SF's Hawaii 5-0 song Out of Control. It really rocks & the lyrics sound like Simon Peter's pov. They R a true blessing & I think the Real Deal.
One of his inspirations and influences is kurt. although the melody is vastly different, the lyrics serve the same purpose: asking questions like "why should we listen to that" and so on and questions society as well
Love to hear more...the inspiration and soundz have come along way since twinkle twinkle little star. I like I like I like ...stars and you guys shine.
This is such an amazing performance and I love the song! I feel so bad that I lost touch with their music for a while, but my friend showed me their album "Oh! Gravity" and I was like "THEY"RE ALIVE!!!!!!!!" (of course they're still alive, i know it's just I naively thought that they had broken up after Beautiful Letdown)
What I like about switchfoot is that even though jon isn't the greatest singer or anything like that, the guy loves music and you can tell on his songs and performance. I Love switchfoot.
@nickynice711 I totally agree with you on STP. The DeLeo brothers (guitar and bass) were actually from new Jersey, no 20 minutes from where I was born. I always seem to feel some musical connection to any of my Jersey brothers. Except those damn Jonas boys. Holy hell, I wish they were from somewhere else.
Alright, here's what's up: The bass player (Tim Foreman) has been there since the beginning. The "filipino dude" (Jerome Fontimillius ((or whatever)) ) Is there, but like r1c38o1 said they just don't focus on him. Aaaaand Jon, Chad, and Drew are there of course. Alright just a little heads up :) good video btw...
@FallingSlowlyOnce not only does he remind me of Kurt, check out a guy named Jessy Ribordy... he was the front man for FallingUP and now is with River's Empire...
woah yeah...i doesnt seem like it in the video but now it seem like hes performing alot like him...he looks kinda like that concert they did for mtv haha
@Nkieffer000 he's gotten a lot better, this is kind of old. honestly, now he sings live better than he does in the studio. there's something about his live singing that's just incredible.
Hey coco311311, xxode315 and Ow3n007 -watch your mouth, okay? There's nothing you can do or say that can change how we (switchfoot fans) feel about them. You're just wasting your time. They rock! :)
HAHAHA I thought the same thing man. I really like Hum and I really didn't like Switchfoot back in the day because I always thought they were too "poppy". Well I actually went back and listened to their riffs and I was like DUDE! That's what *I* play when I write and it sounds like Hum!
@njcowboy78 you're correct about Soundgarden n MLB, who were amazing n would've done great things if Wood didn't die. Actually, the Band Temple of the Dog was a homage to him, even getting their name from one line in his lyrics. Pearl Jam was ultimately top dog but don't forget STP...completely discredited for being another Seattle copycat band when they were actually from Cali n had no idea about the Seattle scene.Nirvana didn't deserve nearly as much credit but they were great too.
well their career wasn't ruined, but yeah what happened was that sony put a rootkit on sf's nothing is sound cds, so people who bought the cd couldn't copy the songs as mp3. switchfoot doesn't care about the money though, so tim (the bassist) tried to tell people how to get around the rootkit, but sony almost sued him.
Lol, you mean Jon S.? Schneck ain't in this video. It's just one of my favorite things to exclaim. Like 'Woah shneck!' or 'Schneck friggin yes!' ... yes I'm aware I'm an oddball. [:
You know a song is good when it makes you shiver a little.
switchfoot is the best band ever!!! omg they totally rock!

Did you ever see them again

actually, "Stars" is from "Nothing Is Sound," the album after The Beautiful Letdown.

What I like about switchfoot is that even though jon isn't the greatest singer or anything like that, the guy loves music and you can tell on his songs and performance. I Love switchfoot.

At 1:11 he kinda looked like Kurt Cobain.
i went to see them yesterday in london THEY WERE AMAAZZINGGGG SANG SANG THIS AND I DIED, this is actually my ghost typing
@fattirevsbud And the song reminds me of that drummer from the 90's who started a band, I swear, the opening riff is almost identical to Live-In Skin.
Cool performance video. Would have liked to see more of Jerome though. It almost never showed him

They're definately Not lip-synching. Listen to the studio version and then this.
Switchfoot is the coolest Christian Band ever.

glory to god good christian music
@njcowboy78 Really? The Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden wave? I never even heard of those bands when smells like teen spirit came out as a single.
I really enjoyed this! if anything could be a bit better, it would be lead vocals. he usually sounds a bit raspy live, but not bad : )
the anti-curt cobain.
@enthnd03 ....like their song Live-In Skin
@Nkieffer000 Hardly anybody does anymore. This guy's pretty decent for the amount of production Switchfoot gets.
Hey coco311311, xxode315 and Ow3n007 -watch your mouth, okay?
There's nothing you can do or say that can change how we (switchfoot fans) feel about them. You're just wasting your time.

I'm sure he enjoys what he's doing in the band:) without him they wouldnt have the Switchfoot sound....
haha i think that too!!!

whenummloookkemm...STAAAAARRRRRSSS!!!
I think they sang this better back when this song came out. Now it has lost a lot of its energy and power
theyve been a 5 piece since a beautiful letdown. drew didnt become an official member until nothing is sound was released.
I love the Christian Twin of Kurt Cobain
someone turn his microphone up
the intro/song feels very foo fighters to me
@jeffmcaraturnbull me too!..
Lol, you mean Jon S.? Schneck ain't in this video. It's just one of my favorite things to exclaim. Like 'Woah shneck!' or 'Schneck friggin yes!' ... yes I'm aware I'm an oddball. [:
