This pretty much nailed what it's like. I'm disabled and raising two disabled kids on AISH. I have an adult daughter and a foster child I also care for, but they aren't included in my AISH and CPPD funding, so I'll leave them out.
Groceries and rent alone kill my pay, add our $700+ a month utility bill and we are in a constant state of stealing from paul to pay peter (if you get that figure of speach). I can't keep feeding these kids with these grocery, rent and utility costs! It's humiliating!

I have ASD level 1, POTS and likely hEDS, i tried to apply to AISH back when i only had the ASD diagnosis and was immediately declined. I am fighting to get the diagnosises i need to reapply to AISH. Applying to AISH should not be so difficult and they should not be paying so little. Disabled people deserve dignity and respect and we deserve access to basic human needs and rights.

AISH has definitely helped my family over the years… but it’s not enough. As someone said, 2400 is minimum wage at 40hours working for a month which is also not enough for someone with a family without a second income. AISH is less then that. Love you daddy, Bob Burrill. wish I had the $22,000 for your electric wheelchair. 😢

I am a mature lady diagnosed with autism and adhd and i wish someone would do a vid on aging and disability and how systems are putting people at risk due to how inaccessible they are when trying to access them or how the Canadian system doesn't recognize disability after 65 and if one has over 70 iq many services thats pdd funded many neurodiverse people don't qualify. to add to this mess if you marry a neurotypical you get booted off aish and these days if you do get pdd most programs don't support people where they are at as most seem to cater to severe or visible needs that require 24/7care........the issues I face as an older adult not only stems in supportive areas but also health resources employment school/education and most other things disability related as what there is for autistic adults often comes with age limits of under 30 yrs old .......so if its not my age its iq, if it not iq then its marital staus that denies me support and what there is is on a one size, fits all platform and thus my accessibility has bin denied to me all my life and more needs to be done........all i have is what little work i have and cppd these days and if hubby got sick or passes on i am boned because support dont support and ill be left to the wolves if i was to try to survive it alone........not all disabled quallify for aish or other supports due tohouse hold income or marital staus........

Yes, there are several things that need to be changed! Hopefully videos like this will help is getting more attention driven towards the issues, Regarding doing a video on aging with disability, I hope someone will be able do one that will also bring attention to the issues.

AISH is so far below the poverty line with Workers who do not care. It is PATHETIC how some of the Workers act that THEY have to take money out of their own pockets to help 1 client get to an appointment. I’m on AISH as well as my wife. We were forced to sign a Declaration Of Separation or face FRAUD charges. Why? Because they could not bully us into filing for Divorce. I’m my wife’s primary caregiver thanks to our 1 Doctor doing a LETTER OF DECLARATION saying that my wife NEEDS my help 24/7 and that I am her PRIMARY CAREGIVER.

Yes, it is a mess! Especially regarding disabled seniors being forced to support their disabled spouses on 400 more than what the senior was getting on aish and cutting the spouse income to 1000..
