They're amazing when they lean into thrash. They're so good at everything, and I love their whole catalogue, but when they play thrash they are the best, no contest. For me anyway. Like you said, it's amazing to hear it now and from them, and not from 30 years ago. They're amazing at everything they do though. Asami is a big fan of thrash, interestingly enough. I wish they do a bit more of it.

The key parts are pre-recorded by Miyako. If the focus of a song as more on the keys, then she plays the piano, keyboard or synth part live.
There is also the song „Burden of time“ were she plays guitar (left hand) and keyboard (right hand) at the same time.
During the live performance of „Epilogue“ she changes instruments multiple times. Acoustic guitar, keyboard, electric guitar, keyboard , electric guitar

I'm 63, and the bands you mentioned are just a few of my favorites. Thrash & Speed - that is the core of my metal. Others like Exodus, Destruction, Grip Inc, and many more. Throw in Meshuggah even though not thrash.
This performance right here is my favorite live recorded thrash song ever. It's thrash and speed perfection with a twist. The solo run is incredible, and that breakdown is exquisite. Great reaction.

No one plays Thrash better LIVE today than Lovebites....PERIOD!!!!! The Hammer of Wrath or Set the World on Fire, both LIVE are other good examples of this band's insane talent. Other songs that show off the diverse nature and their influences are Swan Song with Chopin piano intro, Frozen Serenade and of course any of the 3 "E" songs (Empty Daydream, Epilogue or Edge of the World). Once you see MIyako pull out that Les Paul look out you know her Gary Moore influences won't be far behind. Then she hits the floor pedal to drop in the Deep Purple salute into the song!!!!!

Miho is a fantastic bass player - you're right!👍 Unfortunately, Miho's role in LOVEBITES is greatly underestimated. LOVEBITES was created thanks to Miho. It was her idea that she brought to life. Miho found and united all the ladies into a band. Miho was the leader of LOVEBITES. Largely thanks to Miho, the band quickly achieved international recognition. During her time in the band (2016 - 2021), Miho wrote about 30% of the lyrics and about 25% of the music of LOVEBITES. Miho came up with the symbol for LOVEBITES - the Wolf.

LOVEBITES - Break The Wall lyrics:
(DIE) No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
(BY) Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY) Can't believe it's real
Cause in the end, everything is gone
(SIDE) How should I live from now?
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    (DIE)
    No sign of my crime
    Got my scars during wartime
    (BY)
Who's the one that did it
    Deadly venom eating me inside
    (MY)
    Spent my life in vain
    I can't forget everything I've done
    (SIDE)
    I swear to my hatred
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    SOLO: midori / miyako
    (DIE)
    No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
    (BY)
Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY)
    Can't believe it's real

Yep, that's Miho, she wrote the song, Miyako co wrote the music with her. From the 2018 EP Battle Against Damnation. Old school thrash sound with a slower solo in the middle, just awesome. Next? , I would suggest checking out Miyako's piano abilities( concert pianist level) on "Swan Song" with Chopin piano intro, at this 2020 show. (Was played at the 2023 concert, but piano intro is not included on posted video)
They aren't the only band with 2 awesome guitarists, try another Japanese band, Nemophila, suggest starting with "Oiran" (official live).

It's absorbed. If your brain clicks onto it you will absorb it and it becomes part of you. All of her influences are the bands/songs that she loved and played over and over until it is part of her as with all of the members of the band and you can hear these influences in their playing, singing. Great artists!!

As you may know by now Miyako is mostly self taught and started learning guitar at 18 through an instruction series called Phrases From Hell. Part of her practice and training also involved learning songs by ear and some of the guitarist she learned off were Paul Gilbert, Kik Hammett, and Gary Moore, who's influence you can clearly hear on this solo. Fun Fact: The 1st metal song she learned by ear was "Master Of Puppets", which is crazy because I remember being stoked just for picking up "Iron Man" lol.

Some say that recently Chuck and Alex went on a road trip to see the wall they went over many years ago. Rumor has it, when they arrived at the place where they thought it was, all that was left was tiny bits of gravel. It had been obliterated. I think we know now who got rid of that pesky wall.

After the 2 solos and during the bridge, the one playing the synth/keyboard is Mao. He's the keyboardist for japanese band Light Bringer and he's been hired by Lovebites. He's like their unofficial 6th member as he technically writes about half of the songs for the girls (He writes most of the power metal songs). Sometimes you can hear him play his synthesizer in the background in a few songs of Lovebites

Lovebites does in fact use backing tracks live. However it is backing or accompanying piano and orchestral passages that enhance the songs. These musicians are Easily God Level and all still relatively young. If you like Thrash check out Lovebites - MDO the live video they recently dropped. Pure Fire.

Break the Wall is a song from the second EP Battle Against Damnation (June 2018). I Agree with everything you said! I also agree with what you said about Miho. Miho is fantastic, great bass player! Miho deserves a lot more respect and recognition than she received from LoveBites fans! Unfortunately, many of the Wolf Pack (LoveBites fans) never realized that Miho was a fantastic bass player and that she was a perfect fit for LoveBites. And this is very sad.
Keyboards parts for concerts (backing tracks) are recorded by Miyako.
You checked out two thrash songs from the 2020 concert (Five of a Kind - Live in Tokyo 2020): Thunder Vengeance and Break the Wall.
I advise you to check out more thrash songs from Five of a Kind - Live in Tokyo 2020: The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath and M.D.O.

“Miho deserves a lot more respect and recognition than she received from LoveBites fans!”
No one denies that Miho is a good bassist, rather the issue relates to Japan having too many good bassists, so that if you compare Miho to many of them, she doesn’t really stand out. This doesn’t mean she’s bad, it just means she’s not as good as some of the others. For example: she’s not going to compare to someone like Miyu of Asterism.
The difference between Miho and someone like Miyako, is that Miyako can hold her own when people compare her to other Japanese guitarists. That’s not to say Miyako is the best guitarist, which I don’t actually believe, it’s just to say that she is good enough to be up there somewhere. In other words: Miyako stands out (not to mention that she also plays piano well).

Both of those bands have been around for 40 years now, and both of those bands have had mega successful careers. No need to shit on the roots of the genre. Lovebites is influenced by pretty much all styles of metal, except maybe black-metal. ( No growling cookie-monster vocals with Lovebites. ) Which is good, because I don't really like growling vocals. Only two bands I liked that could pull it off: DEATH, and MORBID ANGEL. David Vincent and Chuck Schuldiner. If Asami threw a growl out there, i'll bet it would be really cute! Maybe they could try that on a new song. 😄

I think the ladies themselves would be disappointed with this comment. Even embarrassed.
