My fav aspects, they revived Power Metal with perfection, Twin leads, All their songs are in 100% English, and I cannot go to sleep without hearing a few songs, haven't went a day in 2 years without at least hearing a few of my favs. Best Metal band in 30 years since maiden and priest, was bitten and taken into The Wolf Pack on their first single/release in 2017, they are the new metal Godz. Lovebites are, for now, the most exciting and talented band, power/heavy/speed metal all over. Five of a Kind gig 2020 is just a fucking awesome jaw-dropping masterpiece. There were Made in Japan, Strangers in the Night, Unleashed in the East and now Five of a Kind.
These ladies are so talented! I found them last year. Face melting skill! This band is the complete package! They hit like a gorgeous Mack truck. Miyako is a huge Dimebag (Pantera) fan! I think his influence is why she likes Dean guitars . Truely melodic speed metal, and very mesmerizing. They blow by like a tornado, and they suck you in musically !!

Your reaction to Midori's solo is what I experience every time I watch her play this.
I only missed your recognition that she steps back into the darkness and seamlessly transitions from that display of pyrotechnics, those double-stops to the final note, flawlessly, to the slow-arpeggitated-rhythm that changes the entire mood of the piece, 'setting the stage' for her partner Miyako to play her "Gary Moore-esque" solo. Midori frequently shreds 'in the background' in a way, during choruses and the like. You'll see.
Shadowmaker? Ballad? Actually, yes, but with Haruna's frantic precision drumming locked with Miho's bass and the flawless highspeed tremolo-picking of Midori & Miyako it is transformed into Heavy Metal!
Each of their songs has a solo by each guitarist and almost all have a harmony-duet that follows. As you adjust you will hear Haruna's stops, fills, transitions and accents more clearly. As a drummer myself, I find her fulfillment of the bands' needs in such a unique and amazing way, it transcends the need for a 'solo', although I started seeing live shows with Cream's Ginger Baker doing a 15 minute solo and loved it! (frankly, 4'9" Haruna does more in a 5 minute song than 6'4" Baker did in all 15 minutes)

Second song: The official music video for Shadowmaker was their big breakout video, and a lot of people were skeptical they could pull this off live. You have seen the reality. They are off the hook.
Third song--other commenters have filled you in on what it is and how it fits into the concept. Miyako was originally headed for a career as a classical concert pianist. She didn't pick up a guitar until she was 18. Now she is one of the best metal guitarists in the world, and also writes most of Lovebites' music, often incorporating themes from great Romantic-era classical composers like Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Dvorak.

Not that there is anything wrong with those songs but for me, they do not make a good introduction to what Lovebites can do with songwriting and stage performance. If you like Ballads you have to check Epilogue, it is one of my top 5 ballads of all time. There are also Edge of the World, Swan Song and Empty Daydream.
As for guitar shredding, man there are so many of them ... I like their dual guitar play w/ overhand tapping in Signs of Deliverance or We the United, very fun piece.
Small energizer bunny drummer Haruna, excellent but underrated bassist and band leader Miho, outstanding vocalist Asami, and two of the best guitar players nowadays that can definitely stand against anyone else, two of the best dual guitarist, Midori (left) and Miyako also such a great classical pianist (right). They are all multi-instrumentalists.
You could listen to their cover of Helloween - Eagle Fly Free, they all have solos and vocals are just phenomenal.

First time watching Lovebites is Life Changing because for most people we assumed the art of Heavy Metal had died.
Yeah mate they've got that effect on you when you see them for first time. I know by my self I already sow them twice live in Wacken Germany 2018 and UK 2019 year. That time in UK they touring together with Dragon force. Now the band is formed 2016 in Tokyo from ex Destrose band members Miho the bassist and composer ( she is the band leader) and Haruna the drummer ( best female power metal drummer in the world at the moment) and the other members are Asami the vocalist and songwriter ( she also plays piano, before joining the band she was R&b and jazz singer) Midori the lead guitarist and backing vocals with the blonde hair( one of the fastest female guitarists in the world) and Miyako the other lead guitarist ,pianist and composer ( she is the main composer, all band compose together). Lovebites are the winners of 2018 for best new metal band in the world. Their last album Electric pentagram is nominated for one of the best 20 metal albums for 2020 year. The band is influenced by 80s metal. Miho the bassist mentioned once in interview we are here to make something memorable. The band want to step closer to their inspiration bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Halloween, Metallica and Slayer. You have to check definitely the song Epilogue from their previous concert Daughters of the down 2019 year. Enjoy it. My first reaction was the same as your first reaction. Middle aged metal head here, who was smiling and crying at the same time, and yelling YEESSSSS!! Thunder Vengeance was my second listen after Set the World on Fire. Mind Blown.

What I think.....there is no other power metal band that is their equal in the world right now. They are as good as anything that ever was in this genre.

Holy Shit, what a way to break your Lovebites cherry. A 3-fer! I'm commenting as we go, so this is just after the first song. You asked for history, here's a brief background:
They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan for awhile). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" pocket nuke), and they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music. They have only been together for about 4 years.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and now they’re taking it to another level.
This is one of their thrashier songs. They do everything from soulful power ballads to white-hot insane thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. One key to their sound is that the two shredders are so different in style and tone. Midori is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone and more structure; Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets really rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.")

Just a tip when you listen to these incredible ladies. Normally the songs are mixed so you have Miyako, the black-haired guitarist in your right ear and Midori's in the left, so it's easy to hear who's doing what. They always add things here and there and the more i listen the better they get. My advise, choose any song and you'll be impressed. There is one where Miyako plays keyboard and guitar at the same time! :-)

Always love seeing that first transformation when the Pack sniffs you out and brings you in and welcomes a new member home. lol we're a crazy fanatical loyal pack to these Wolfen Metal Godz. I had that same face in 2017 when my brother sent me a link to the their first video Don't Bite The Dust and said, "ya gotta listen to this, Maiden and Priest had a baby". I rolled my eyes, listened to it and was knocked out of my chair. I literally teared up at the sound...2 weeks later I had their first CD and Ep in my hands..lol

Right on buddy I was waiting and waiting for you to finally check out Lovebites I through some links a couple of months ago but it's cool now you are hooked and bitten. Oh yeah, they are the real deal, Miyako (Dark hair) and Midori (Blond hair) are two of the best shredders in the world, Asami is an absolute vocalist reminds me so much of Bruce Dickenson, Miho the bassist is influenced by Steve Harris, Haruna the drummer is a little spitfire of enjoyment. They don't just play one style or genre of Rock they do it all and with grace, if you continue on this path you will find out just how amazing and epic they are.

Lovebites today is what metallica was back then, juice filled hard hitting with a bit of pillowtalk tossed in at the right moments...they follow Metallica so closely if any one noticed. Metallica has a tendency to have a full band solo not just lead gutiar but rythem and bass as well..these ladies tend to do the same. To get the similarities is amazing.

Daughters of the dawn 2019 is good quality also.

actually when you started with the "Shadowmaker" and said..."I hope to hear a good solo")))...I laughed, as I know that song and waited for your expression when they swapped solos, and even synced their tapping in perfect time)))) in fact, Lovbites has "twin-leads", as either of the ladies is supporting with a rhythm section while not soloing or bass section when they both play in unison))) remember that name MIYAKO, the quiet evil genius in the band. You saw her on the Gibson, then on the Dean, and thereafter on the piano! She is not running on the stage as Midory, but when she "attacks" - she will leave you speechless!! Just like the silent assassin" in Band-Maid - Misa, Miyako is classically trained, all these ladies are. None of them is a musician by sheer happenstance. Miyako never had a stringed instrument in her hands before she was 18, she is a classically trained piano player. They have a live studio session for a song called "Burden of Time" - watch it and if you still have questions about her skillset...all the answers are there...prepared to be shocked and awed))))🤘🤘🤘

Lovebites, they just leave me breathless, the best eargasm ever)) no idea when in the gym and Lovebites begin their torture)) I should thank you, I loved your honest reaction, as I discovered Lovebites and Band-Maid via a lad, just like you, reacting to those bands. You ain't seen nothing yet ! Lovebites are far better live than their studio recordings, heavier, more brutal and louder. React to anything from their Five of a Kind concert at Zepp`Diver Ciy Tokyo 2020 or Daughters of the Dawn Concert Tokyo 2019. If you want a power ballad try 'Epilogue'. Don't you just love the way Miyako (the guitarist with black hair on the right) puts down her Dimebag Darrell Dean ML guitar and then sits at a grand piano and plays a difficult Chopin Etude. Miyako plays near concert level classical piano. She has played piano for twenty-seven of her thirty years and only began to teach herself to play the guitar at the age of eighteen She also plays bass and some drums and composes and arranges about half of all Lovebites songs. All members of Lovebites are equally talented and are multi-instumentalists, but for me Miyako is the stand out member. You should also check out another all female Japanese metal band NEOMOPILA. I recommend three tracks RAITAI, OIRAN , SORAI - you will not be disappointed.

If you are into Japanese girl bands, check out Mary's Blood. Better frontwoman and better lead guitarist. Yes, Midori and Miyako are grade A guitarists but Saki is A+
