    Your video was a lifesaver! Did this job today, took me 6 1/2 hours on my own. But I saved so much money, I sourced a used diff for 180€, and paid another 120€ for the workshop-rent and a few parts. A professional workshop quoted 1850€ for the removal/rebuild! Thanks so much for the video!

      Hallo Florian,

    My 06 Cayenne had differential problems. I want to comment that he is very knowledgeable on these differentials. I spoke to many axle shops, but felt most comfortable with Terry. He had the best understanding of these differentials. He will answer your questions and his work is impeccable. He is meticulous and thorough. I ended up purchasing a rebuilt unit from him on eBay (described in the video). When I received the unit, it was carefully packaged - again attention to detail. This may seem minor point, but when you have the car disassembled it was reassuring to see this and know that the work on the rebuilt unit is as meticulous. No problems to date and runs perfect! I used his video plus the Porsche service manual to do the removal and install. Highly recommend Terry!

    Great info. Straight forward. Thorough enough, and to the point. Thank you! Preparing to R&R ‘06 Cayenne Turbo S.

    I use a transmission jack to hold the subframe when I do this job. Makes it a little easier and a lot safer

    I’m wondering if the cradle bold intro he frame can be a problem to remove like on older vw where the bolt would be stuck into the bushing and break? Also I would like to attempt a rebuild myself and want to know where to get I for about bearing preload

    Hi. Great video! Would this be the same process you'd do to replace the three differential bushings on the differential if they were worn out ...?

    Great video, but do you have a tool to align the subframe when you install everything? Or is there a trick to do it without a special tool? Need to rebuild the diff on my Cayenne soon

    • @moroit1
      @moroit1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First time i removed it those subframe bushings had left pretty clear marks on it and i just aligned it with those. I'll be taking it apart again pretty soon to rebuild the actual diff and plan on doing it like that again.

    Just repaired my 2006 Automatic gearbox Touareg's transfer case but I can hear a knocking noise from under the cabin.
    Noise comes out only uphill as I drive out of my parking area and take my foot off the gas when ground becomes flat again. Any idea what to look out for? Thanks

    In another video they also remove the upper ball joint nut. Do you need to remove either the upper or lower? If so, do you recommend one vs the other? (Air suspension). Thanks.

    I need some feedback...I just did this diff replacement job on my ‘05 Touareg V6. This video is a life saver. Sadly, the salvage yard axle I received had a figment issue that I did not notice until getting it almost completely installed. The CV axle flanges on the replacement diff are slightly larger in diameter and the bolt holes are for bigger bolts. This sucked! I contacted VW and they said that in ‘05 the CV axles for V8 or V6 are the same. The seller of the diff sent me the VIN of the donor and it too is an ‘05 V6. I think the seller’s shippers may have sent the wrong part. Everything else fit perfectly. What could this diff possibly be out of?

      SuperJon thatis a Porsche Cheyenne front differential. There are three different gear radio’s for the Cheyanne and the end shafts are smaller. You can pull the shafts out and put your originals in. You will need the vin number to determine gear ratio

    Did you have to pry the input shaft out after removing the 6 spline bolts ?

    • @vwjustfixit4843
      @vwjustfixit4843  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, some require prying and others just pull out.

      Thanks for the reply. Thats a bummer. I may just need to take a chance on a used diff. I have heard that a Q7 4.2 diff (07-10) is compatible with my 2004 Treg 4.2 as well as some Cayenne units. Do you know if that is true? I have a 0AA 409 507D GMN. Likewise, anyone else you might recommend for rebuilds. Best regards.
