Definitely a GADA watch. I remember visiting a doctor’s office while on vacation in Hawaii. I was wearing my Sinn 104, which the doctor quickly recognized and asked to see. I indulged him, and he admitted that the 104 was on his short list. So fun running into fellow enthusiasts in the wild!
About the bezel: The screws are to create a captive bezel that won’t come off when knocked. It’s 60-click, bi-directional, with countdown markings rather than elapsed time. Other cool fact: Not only is it rated to 200m, but it’s also low pressure resistant to prevent the crystal popping off during flight. This watch may look simple, but it has more tricks up its sleeve than meets the eye.
James, I was looking & have been looking at Sinn for some 3 years. Actually I was on the Sinn site this morning! In particular the 556. Having said that as yet I have not bought one because the 104 is on my radar!😵💫🥰🤣
The prices on Sinn watches Have gone through the roof in the last 5 years. I own a Laco flieger, and it's my only German watch to date. I am kicking myself for not buying one when they were more affordable. This one is certainly a looker. Thanks James!
That’s a beautiful watch! Although a fully polished tool watch seems to defeat the toolish nature of it. Kind of like a metal G Shock with a polished face. Wait a second, I have a metal G Shock with a polished face, and I love it!
The screws do keep the bezel in place, but also allow you to remove the bezel and manipulate the bezel alignment using the now uncovered triplets of holes revealed.
..... thanks for a good look at the Sinn canvas/leather strap ..... I've just ordered a new 356 pilot ( with acrylic crystal ) on bracelet ( plus a black leather strap ) and have been wondering about this canvas strap .... love the way it is fraying and has a slightly ragged look , others have mentioned the way the strap frays in negative terms but I think it is a bonus , will be a perfect contrast to the 356 ....... so thanks
Technically it isn't a dive watch. It is a pilot watch that happens to be rated to 200 meters. I know its a little like splitting hairs. Surely you can use it on dives but if it had to classified its a pilot.
I appreciate your objections to the 104. I like the day/date execution, guess that’s just a matter of taste. As for the finish, keep in mind it’s also a pilot watch. Airline pilots’ uniforms are on the same level of formality as a business suit; so making the watch less “tooley”makes sense. Also I think the steel used has a high Vicker’s hardness, making it less likely to scratch.
Interestingly, the Tudor Pelagos MN FXD has a bidirectional, countdown bezel like the Sinn 104. Apparently, French Navy divers used such a bezel for navigational purposes. That said, the Sinn 104 is definitely a capable dive watch with its 200m water-resistant rating.
Definitely a GADA watch.

I just had a similar experience when seeing a doctor. He was wearing a vintage Tudor.

Shoulda read this comment, you're not the only one to spot that
That is very cool to know

Same 104, 556 and U50.
... And their UTC
They have some lovely watches
I love this Sinn - it's one of my Grails, but with the white dial. I don't have a problem with the day/date - it's functional.
Thanks for WATCHing

They certainly have. I’ve noticed too

Hahahaha good to hear

Love Sinn, the screws are for the bezel, like Brietling. This is a great watch, is there a gmt one?
Thank you.
I’m not aware of a gmt. But that would be very nice.
I can see why this one is so popular
Agree about the day/date complication. The day positioned at 3 o'clock just makes too big of a block. Seiko does this too much.
They certainly do
Hi James,
The Sinn 104, is readily available at Define Watches at Noosa for under A$3k including GST. Peter and Lydia are great to deal with.
I’ve heard great things about them.
Next time I’m in that area I’ll definitely be stopping in.
@@WATCHingJames I almost got a Sinn from them, but a certain LE Hanhart got in the way.
I appreciate your objections to the 104. I like the day/date execution, guess that’s just a matter of taste.

The 104 is not tegimented and, therefore, does not have the increased Vickers hardness rating.
James, what is that yellow/black toy/device on the shelf behind you ?
One of my most asked questions. Hahahaha.
It is a Lancer. From the game gears of war.
I’m not really into guns or games. But I just really like it.
I’ve had my eye on Sinn for a while. I know you like the 556. Which was your preference?
I do like the 556i but I think I actually prefer this one. I feel that I would wear it more.
I like the shape of Sinn. Lugs are quite perfect. I don't care for rolex-type case shape.
Thanks for WATCHing
I love mine on a MN strap.
It is a fantastic watch
I have yet to see an ugly Sinn. This is another beautiful, practical stunner. Take care James!
They make some lovely watches
@@WATCHingJames German engineering at their finest!
Beautiful watch. NOT a dive watch tho. Pilot watch
Thanks for WATCHing

This is the only Sinn I like.
Thanks for WATCHing
That’s beautiful
Thanks for WATCHing
Wow, just like a Glycine Combat Sub, except six times the price! 😂
Hahahahahaha
sinn screwed me during a repair process. never again
That’s disappointing to hear
…”these ones”… Ouch!
Thanks for WATCHing
👍
👍
You could argue that Sinn are the good looking utilitarian watches that the Rolex subby used to be known as.
Absolutely.
The s in German is pronounced z mate
Thank you
It's a flight watch
Thanks for WATCHing
Not Sinn….Zinn!
Yes! In German S in the beginning of a word is pronounced Z.
James - what is that yellow/black toy/device on the shelf behind you?
Ah yes. I’m not the best with pronunciations. I should probably pay more attention.
Probably my most asked question. Hahahaha.
It is a Lancer from the game gears of war.
I’m not really into games or gun but just like it.
Love it! Cool band
