I wonder if you could use this as a flavour base by adding a couple of handfuls of steamed/boiled veggies to bulk it out and to reduce the impact of the salt on the flavour?
You would have to add the potato raw for it to absorb excess salt, but it also absorbs some of the liquid....you should take it out 15 to 20 minutes after adding. They do indeed work to remove over salted dishes, mainly soups and stews. My mum did this on a couple of occasions when I was a child when she accidentally tipped too much salt into the stew. She did throw away the potato afterwards of course.

I'm over 50 and lost over 2 stones this year. Try a calorie deficit & fasting. I normally stop eating around 7-8 pm and then have breakfast at 11 am. Beauty is you can eat pretty much anything as long as you stick to a calorie amount you've set yourself. Biryani looked better on the packaging. Good video as always
2.7g of salt is roughly a level half teaspoonful, which seems quite a lot in a single serving. But no nasty ingredients and could make a reasonable side dish among a family.
10-20 grams is way Too much salt. Yes, you do need some, but that doesn't mean you can have as much as you want. Eat 20 grams of salt a day and you Will have a condition. FWIW, the amount of sodium chloride in tap water is minimal unless you have a salt-based water softener.
Years ago when Carte Noir coffee 1st appeared on the shelves i bought a jar as it was being advertised as the best coffee from France. On looking more closely at the label it said `Made in Luton ! Is that product today not the old boil in the bag product. I was surprised when you put it all in a saucepan and mixed it all together.
A traditional Biryani is layers of vegetables and sauce with layers of rice, so a microwave version generally comes with meat/veggies and rice in one pack and the sauce in another. Apparently it's a meal served on special occasions such as wedding or birthdays and Basmati rice is aged 10 years before being thrown in the pot. It makes the rice very chewy and very, very nice.
@@BaldFoodieGuy if the stuff is in the sealed pouches the liquid in the food would stay in the food so the salt would be less concentrated as a result. Obviously if the pouches are opened and poured in a pan, and heated, the liquid will just evaporate and you end up with a strong salt flavor. Also worth bearing in mind that although those pouches are labeled for sale in the UK, they will be being sold all over India as well (in different packaging obviously) but as India is massively hotter than the UK the salt intake in India has to be a lot higher to cope with the loss of salt in sweat, so the average Indian's tolerance for salt will be a lot higher than the average Brit, combined with a greater intake of water.

I always thought that putting a whole potato in a dish that’s too salty, I wouldn’t have thought of lemon or lime juice! £1 is not bad! The label was red for sodium, so not too surprised it is too salty. Maybe adding tofu (for vegan) would cut the salt. Lime juice is good too. Nice to hear you are on an exercise regime; I hate exercise other than walking. My current weight is about 178 lbs., up 2 lbs since last year, I'm 5'8" and will be 60 in January. Hopefully today I will begin to make pesto as I have too much basil leaves. Very simple to make; basil, cheese (I like a three or four cheese, grated or shredded), a clove or two of garlic, and EVOO (extra virgin olive oil). Blender or food processor, basil and cheese, garlic, then add EVOO until a good, thick consistency. Add pasta, gnocchi, BOOM! A meal! Can also add pesto to mayonnaise, tomato mozzarella capresse, etc. Very versatile. I love a good fresh pesto!

I don`t know about you Gareth but, when i`m out and about shopping there`s only certain shops i`m go into to buy certain products and buying rolls in bakeries is one of them. Aulds the Bakers has never been the cheapest but, always have the nicest rolls around. I`m sure i was in there last Monday as i fancied 2 egg rolls for my lunch and bought 2, not cheap at 98p until today that is. I asked for 2 rolls and was asked for a whopping £1:50. I thought i misheard her and asked how much is it for one roll, when she didn`t reply i shouted and she replied 75p. When i asked for the price i noticed behind me a wee queue had formed but, when i left, that queue had vanished. They were all looking closely at the price list above the counter. Needless to say, today is the last day i`ll be in there.
Hi Gareth from Spain. Nah, not for me. I prefer to make my own foreign dishes, I know what's gone into them, then. At £1 I suppose you haven't been too ripped off.
Salty slop. A quid yeah but lets get it right. It's flavoured !entils and rice, 250g worth, probably just enough to feed a kid. Probably 10p to produce and manufacture en mass.
I think that you are supposed to cook and serve these separately. Biryani is a rice dish with a side serving of a vegetable curry. Maybe the saltiness would have been lessened by serving it separately.
I do love a good Ruby Murray, or a Balti. I usually make them in my slow cooker as you don’t really get the full flavour in a quickly made curry. Even if I’m using meat, I still bing in plenty of veg. Potatoes, Broccoli, Cauliflower, carrots and Swede and Spinach to name a few. I don’t mind a veggie curry as you still get the flavour and it fills you up. Plus all the side dishes, like Onion Bhajis, Saag Aloo, rice, Gobi Aloo, Naan’s and Onion and fresh tomato salad as well as a Tzatziki style salad makes a simple curry into a feast. All quick to make and cheap as chips This £1 curry would suit a student or singley on a budget. However judging the contents? You could probably by a jar of sauce mix and a load of veg for under 2 quid and get plenty of curry left over. Curry and Chilli have always been cheap to make, especially the veggie versions. I would call this a “ lazy man’s curry “. Just cheap, quick and lacking any real flavour we all love in a curry. And I doubt it really came from India 🤔🤔.
I wonder if you could use this as a flavour base by adding a couple of handfuls of steamed/boiled veggies to bulk it out and to reduce the impact of the salt on the flavour?

Most people have way more salt than they should, and sugar.
MSG occurs naturally in a lot of food, fruit and veg. It's made by fermenting various vegetables.
Msg is pretty natural, tomatos and anchovies are full of it, once isolated it's mixed with salt for convenience.

Cheers Andy
Hi Gareth from Spain. Nah, not for me. I prefer to make my own foreign dishes, I know what's gone into them, then. At £1 I suppose you haven't been too ripped off.
Biryani is Hindi for "I've forgotten the sauce". Not a lot of people know that ;)
I never lol
I only have chopsticks and am part of an Asian workforce, nothing beats fresh fruit and veg
Let’s hope it tastes better than it looks
Are you running in the great north run gareth
No mate
Salty slop. A quid yeah but lets get it right. It's flavoured !entils and rice, 250g worth, probably just enough to feed a kid. Probably 10p to produce and manufacture en mass.
Back in the seventies the highlight of my Saturday night was always a Vesta chow mein.Seemed so exotic at the time!
The Indian cricket team take these when they are on tour, I believe.
Cashew cashew ...Bless you! 🤣👍
Haha
I get my exercise going to the kitchen get a cup of tea
All quick to make and cheap as chips
This £1 curry would suit a student or singley on a budget.
Cheers Gerry yes can't beat them can you. All the best pal 👍
My other half bought some table salt the other day..she said it too salty for her ..can't please some 😂
It's a curry leaf, they are great, do not abandon it.
That looks spicy nice £1 wow the pound bakery was selling chicken wings for a pound the other day
You're a braver man than me eating that kinda grub in this heat ha haa
I'm brave yes
Oh yes Sir……Plenty cheapness a good bang for you Rupees….😃🍽️👍
salt is cheap and enhances the small amount of spices used for the cost
Flush the salt (from your tongue) with a proper pint! ✌️🍻😉
Eating lentils, chillis and Indian meals is a bit of a volatile combination.
Advice to your family- keep clear of the toilet on Sunday morning.😀
Just tried a Farm foods vegan pizza £1 not bad, maybe one to try...
Nice one
