The Man with the Wine is my favorite recurring character--probably because I never realized it was recurring!! lol!
As I dug out, he was second unit director working on scenes taking place/filmed in Italy.
He was the original Robbie Schneider You Can Do It guy!
Valentin Zukovsky was a wonderful character. Rest In Peace Robbie Coltrane who portrayed him.

Had Zukovsky never been shot by 007 in the knee (as we learn in GoldenEye), he'd have never been in position to save Bond's life via the cane gun in The World Is Not Enough.

I like the idea of Gogol’s character. It’s interesting having a recurring character from an enemy state that still is a reasonable authority figure that helps out when the threat gets too big. Even when he has an antagonistic role I like his reaction to Bond’s acts in For Your Eyes Only’s climax

Desmond Llewelyn as Q is the GOAT of recurring characters in ANY movie franchise. RIP!
I remember noticing in one of his last appearances as Q (Tomorrow Never Dies, or The World Is Not Enough) I could tell he was reading cue cards off screen. His eyes were clearly reading something, he still had the same delivery and mannerisms as Q. But it was getting obvious that he needed to retire. I loved him as Q though, it was always great to revisit his character and see what his department was up to. Some of my favorite lines he delivered were the perennial, "Now pay attention, 007.", "Oh, grow up 007" Or in GoldenEye, as Bond picks up what appears to be a deadly sandwich, inspecting it as some Q device, and Q quips while grabbing the 'sandwich' " Don't touch that! It's my lunch."
edit: looking up info on Goldeneye it was noted when "Desmond Llewelyn began shooting his scenes as Q in GoldenEye. To help remember his lines the actor had some handy ‘Q cards’ positioned off-camera. Llewelyn said: “When you don’t understand the gadgets you are explaining, it is easy to get things mixed up.”
Of every bond character that has passed away, the ones I miss the most are Desmond Llewelyn and Roger Moore.
Rest in peace Sean Connery/Roger Moore miss you guys you guys both played a good James Bond amen
Robbie Coltrane playing the Russian gangster was great casting..I believe he was thrilled to do them as a 007 nut!

Felix leiter in the Moore and dalton one was awesome and jack wayde the actor who played him appeared as a villain in the living daylights
Similarly, Walter Gotell, who played Gogol, was a henchman in From Russia With Love.
David Hedison was fine as F Leiter with Moore (1973) - but much too advanced in age by 🕰 Dalton came on board (1989)!
Personally I love the "You're a kite, dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond"

It's probably worth noting that the Q's and M's are regarded as different characters in the same position. Arguably Moneypenny as well.
Exactly. M and Q refer to the positions held at different times, not to the people holding those positions.
I remember laughing when doing a Bond marathon when the drunk man kept turning up again.
Since you’ve included Never Say Never Again you should include Bernie Casey as Felix Leiter and Klaus Maria Brandauer as Largo. Also you didn’t mention Blofeld’s cat. If you want to go back really far you can include Barry Nelson as James Bond, Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre and Michael Pate as Leiter in the 1954 television production of Casino Royale that was season 1, episode 3 of the anthology series “Climax!”. Really enjoying the videos by the way.
While I love Casino Royale, it's not official Bond movie.
Never Say Never Again is, strictly speaking, not-official Bond movie but I consider it as one. The script for NSNA was written for EON produced film but then lawsuits & trademark shenanigans ensued and rest is complicated (and fascinating) history.
Feels kinda pointless to include Bond himself on this list but I suppose it counts 😂

A funny thing: Joe Don Baker played the antagonist Whitaker in The Living Daylights and Jack Wade the CIA agent in GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies.

If you're going to include "Never Say Never Again", you need to include the 1967 "Casino Royale" - consequently Vesper Lynd (Ursula Andress), Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), Mathis (Duncan Macrae), not to mention M (John Huston) and Q (Geoffrey Bayldon) are missing.

You forgot the gangster that Scaramanga kills at the beggining of the movie. The gangster appears in Diamonds Are Forever.

There’s a character played by Clem So that should’ve been on this list (or at least the ‘repeat actor’ list) who, like Dr. Vogel, appeared in the SPECTRE meetings in Spectre and No Time to Die
He also appeared in the Macau casino scenes in Skyfall, and his brother Tom So played Fukutu in Casino Royale!
Not all the Ms and Qs were the same character - these are job titles rather than characters per se.
Clearly Llewellyn's and Cleese's Qs are different characters as they appeared together and Cleese referred to Llewellyn as his predecessor.
Similarly Dench and Fiennes appeared together, and the painting of Lee in TWINE and that of Brown in NTTD indicate that these are not the same Ms as Dench and Fiennes.
Indeed it's possible Dench may have played two different Ms.
Dench obviously did. In GoldenEye, she clearly had little experience in the intelligence field, but knew what she was doing. In Casino Royale, she'd been in MI6 since the Cold War.
Considering that Ian Fleming wanted Jon Pertwee to play Q since. Mr.pertwee was in MI-6 with sir Ian during ww2. Q(uarter) branch.

I find amusing that from few selected scenes with Q the first was from Dr. No where he's called Major Boothroyd, it was changed to Q in later movies.
a new reboot needs to be made called the 007 universe. Other characters besides Bond will have their own movies. Some of the movies take place during Bond's adventures. Like we could have a like ex: Felix Leiter movie, a Moneypenny movie, Sheriff J. W. Pepper action comedy movie, the origins of SPECTRE movie, the SPECTRE agents movies, and so on.

Id always watch the thanksgiving Bond A Thon Marathons when i was a kid. Roger Moore was my favorite. I think the reason why is cause he kinda had a VanDamme-ness about him, like his hair style. And VanDamme was my hero. Roger was in VanDammes The Quest so i figure maybe jean Claude was inspired by him. Hence the similar hair style in BloodSport
Sheriff and jaws r my favourite. I am 22 and eatching all bond movies from start enjoying them missed the sheriff in other series. Currently at octopussy

I'm rewatching all the Bond movies in order (again). Just watched Live and Let Die tonight. Looking forward to The Man With the Golden Gun, it's got my favorite villain in the franchise.
The Spy Who Loved Me was the only time Bond referred to Minister Grey by his first name, Freddie.
Tracy is a special case, appeared once but is referenced several times.
FYI there was also a Felix Leiter character in Never Say Never Again portrayed by Bernie Casey. If Max Von Sydow’s Ernst Stavro Blofeld can count, I don’t see why not Bernie Casey’s Felix Leiter can.

What about the Gangster in Diamonds Are Forever and The Man With The Golden Gun? I know you put them in your Returning Actors video but for me at least, they’re the same character. Same actor, same accent, even same fashion sense! Still, great interesting video!

Jaws and Sherrif J.W. Pepper were my favourites. Jaws got a happy ending, but I wish J.W. could've made more appearances.

General Gogol is my favorite as he was the perfect espionage frenemy. His response to helping stop Zorin's plot in 'A View to a Kill' slyly implied the real-life KGB advancing Soviet technology by stealing plans from NASA for SkyLab and the Space Shuttle.
Q, M and Moneypenny don't count as they are mainstays of the franchise as much as James himself.

In Dr. No, the armorer was Major Boothroyd and never referred to as "Q." The character of 'Q' first appeared in From Russia With Love.
Major Boothroyd and Q are the same character. If you watch TSWLM in the scene where Bond and Triple X are about to get into the Lotus delivered by Q, you can hear her greeting Q using his real name.
