Probably because people got turned away thinking it's just a regular historical anime. That and probably the CGI. It's a shame too since this is such a great anime
It’s not a comedy though. It has comedic moments sure. But, it’s more drama. It’s good that it has light hearted moments. This anime can get pretty heavy.

They were weird that way, the idea was not just killing oneself in an "easy" way it was to do it in a rather painful and somewhat slow manner, that unless they the luck having someone at hand that would behead them after they ended cutting their own abdomen.
My favorite part of this episode was Tanigaki having a mental breakdown because he wasn't good at dancing like the girls
