Awesome work, easy to watch along and loved how you described your processes even down to how you made mistakes along the way without editing it out

Just made the same mistake of putting the guide in upside down, got the cam in and everything but couldn’t get the valve cover on. Time to tear it back down😭

Not sure hitting bearings in when the case isnt on a solid surface is best idea. U prob know better than me but with my luck that case would split.

I need a bigger shop at this point and have a press. But I’ve never cracked a a case in my 14 years of engine builds. I get the cases hot enough to where I don’t have to hit hard anyway.

Where are you located? I might have to send my bike to you if anything happens to it!

Love the video , currently working on a crf250 rebuild. How much did you spend on repairing the head ?

man, you know your shit around these bikes! As an experienced mechanic, which motocross bike would you say has lowest running costs and best reliability in long term perspective?

Thanks! I would say the Honda CRF lineup is pretty good. My reason is because they are super easy to work on, there’s an abundance of oem and aftermarket parts and I’d say they’re pretty reliable. I’ve rebuilt a number of these bikes and they can take a beating. I also think they handle very well and feel the lightest. They don’t have the quietest engines but they run really good. I’ve always heard Suzukis having tranny issues and Suzukis are the only bikes. Or without electric start. Yamahas have a great engine too but have an extra valve to worry about…drives the cost up a little more. Kawis are nice bikes too but have a pretty noisy engine in my opinion and oem parts are pretty pricey. I also really love KTM. Very well built and reliable. But they are very expensive and OEM parts are expensive.

Wow! That's some answer :) I am glad you mentioned KTM. They get a demonized for being unreliable by most riders. I ride street bikes for couple years now, and I am considering to give it a shot with an MX bike. I am Hesitant between YZ125 / YZ250F / SX125 / SX-F 250 (I would buy brand new) I like the Yamaha most but I may get a very good deal on new KTM since I work in company that has a partnership with KTM (same goes with parts, I can get them cheaper and I live in Europe so they are easily available).
I actually like the SX125 most but I have seen some horror stories online about bike breaking down after literally couple of hours on it. What would be your recommendation mate? @@motion_mx

What would a build like this cost from you

This build was just under $2500 with parts and labor.
