  • Want to plant a garden but worried about water bills? I f'n love the Senecio 'Blue Chalk Sticks' because it is a fast-grower and extremely drought tolerant. This plant can be used in gardens of all kinds including rock gardens and as an awesome ground cover to fill in under larger succulents like the Agave Attenuata.

Yesterday I potted up about 25 of the little "cells" of the Senicio mandraliscae you demonstrated in the plastic tray for a friend. The info she got was that you're not supposed to water for around 2-3 weeks after potting, so we're not. I used Miracle.Gro potting mix with a little added perlite. I put a few in an oblong terra cotta planter and a few more in the traditional round terra cotta, about 6" wide. They're in full sun as I type, sitting on a concrete porch. It's 84 degrees here in Lake Charles, LA at 12:05 PM and with scattered clouds, but mostly sunny. Also, I potted a flapjack succulent for her in a round terra cotta pot. It exhibits the classic reddened edges that characterize the flapjack. I'm a "liker" and subscriber to your channel, BTW. Keep the good videos coming! 🪴🌵

I have some on my slopes but would like to get rid of growing weeds. Is there any weed killer I can use that is safe with blue chalk sticks?

Hi, no, not that I am aware of. I don't recommend using any chemical weed killer.

The stem of my blue chalkstick plant became black due to over watering. We had to cut the stem. How to replant?

How much of the stem did you cut?
      Is it still alive?
