I lived In Guadalupe island for about two years on and off and it was the most amazing experience of my life, as a child. Dad was running the lab on the hill. Now I am in hawaii relaxing on a vacation. To think about this, it's amazing, I am telling my daughter how the sharks rotate from hawaii to guadalupe island. These monsters eat sea lions then go to hawaii to find a mate and back to the island of Guadalupe.
Sharks are beautiful and so fascinating, I love how they have lived and evolved for all these years. Their one of mother earth's beautiful creatures and creations, I could watch theses beautiful fish all day.
It was said, although divers brave enough to dive without cage, Mexico gov prohibit dive without cage at the Guadalupe Island, to prevent any accident from happening, so as to keep the shark tourism industry thriving.
I like how every a shark is introduced in a video they play ominous scary music. Sharks are not bad creatures. They are very very playful creatures. People give sharks a bad look.

Think of it from a Darwin point of view : survival of the specie is the most important thing and therefore, animals tend to mate with one that will ensure a healthy baby and thus, the specie itself. Though this is not as important for thriving species or ones that populate quickly, it certainly is for one that is endangered, does not populate quickly (gestation period) or whose population has drastically reduced (which is the case for sharks and even more so for great whites) Then, mating with a shark (female or male) that presents a disability, specially one that may impact their movement and hunting ability, may not be favorable. Maybe even truer for a female when the disability itself could impact a good pregnancy (but that's just a hypothesis)
That's a relatively long gestation unfortunately imposes survival issues but such sharks been apex for so long until other pressures of late also been imposed. Then sharks extraordinarily tough.
Maybe she fought a orca and won (great whites can kill orcas but it is rare). Orcas when fighting great whites will aim for the tail then go for the other fins.
