My 2008 GMC Sierra has 5 inch straight pipe and it sounds great, and my 2014 Chevy Silverado has 4 inch straight pipe and it also sounds great, I just love Duramax's in general when they are deleted and tuned😂
I have a ‘07.5 Sierra tuned and deleted with 4” and have been considering converting to 5”. I think it has a deeper tone. I also have a ‘11 Silverado tuned and deleted, that has 968,xxx miles on it.
I own a 2002 lb7 duramax and I went with 5” to 8” tip with stock turbo. Sounds ok from back but sounds like music in the front. Get a better turbo if you want your truck to sound better! Overall, it does make the lb7 breath better and notice huge difference
I've got a 4" on my 05 LLY cateye with a small straight through muffler/resonator back to 4" sounds really good little deeper note then straight 4" but not as loud as 5". Its a work pickup so I hate the drone at highway speeds. You guys should add the small muffler to the 4" it will sound a lot better afterwards
If you live in Michigan and want to get your Duramax tuned and deleted, take it to GreatLakes-Motorsports, they will make them things run wild. My 08' has a stage 1 tow tune and I got it to 135 with ease, my 14' has a stage 2 and got that to 145 with ease as well
Now are these trucks both deleted as well? I want to delete my '20 Duramax mostly to get rid of the EGR BS, and I like the louder turbo sound, but I don't want the truck stupid loud on the highway because I do a ton of highway towing and in/out of campgrounds a lot.
This is the video I was looking for a few months ago when I was deciding on the 4 or 5 I went with the 4 because of me hauling equipment and I didn't was it screaming at me the whole time.
After running the 4" for a year would you go with 4" again or would you go with 5"? I do a lot of hauling to and I'm trying to decide if I want 4" or 5". I also wonder will 4" keep slightly more back pressure for more boost?
5" takes the win all the time. I'm going to have to custom build a full single 5" system for my 6.5 turbo diesel as the don't sell a 5" kit only a 4" 😥
@@RadMachines The 6.5 diesels sound like crap with the 4" wish I had the money for a Duramax but being a small business owner in Hitler Trudeau controled Canada it's though times 😥
Hard one to call, both sound great! I have an LBZ and thinking of building a custom exhaust, but really not sure, 4" or 5" and what muffler and where? I tow heavy so don't want too much drone
The chevy was stock no tune. Gmc tuned. Chevy was on a leveling kit. And the gmc has a 6 inch lift.
One of the best videos I've seen in a while. Minimum talking and all my questions have been answered by the end lol
Thanks!
The white one was most definitely running a hotter tune. Should’ve ran a similar tune to make it fair.
I totally agree with you on that. The reason I ran a hotter tune is so the truck spools up faster. But it sounds about the same in stock tune!
It’s pretty fair. Same exact truck same brand exhaust. Find a better video
Great video, nice straight ahead comparison, no b.s. well done.
Thanks!

I also have a 2014 lml tuned and deleted with 4 inch strait pipe sounds amazing!

Guys thanks for watching! If you liked it please hit that like button and subscribe!
Can you post the link where you bought it please ?? The 5 inch
Great comparison guys

Good to know, picking up a CCSB LBZ this weekend with a 4" straight. We'll see how much different it is from my LB7 with 4" and muffler.

Im in Washington! So thats a ways.
I'm in Michigan how much did they charge to delete yours

What lift is on the white truck and the silver truck
This is the video I was looking for a few months ago when I was deciding on the 4 or 5 I went with the 4 because of me hauling equipment and I didn't was it screaming at me the whole time.
Yea that's a very good point it you haul stuff 4 inch will probably be better for sure!
After running the 4" for a year would you go with 4" again or would you go with 5"? I do a lot of hauling to and I'm trying to decide if I want 4" or 5". I also wonder will 4" keep slightly more back pressure for more boost?

I agree 👍

I got a 4” with a 5” tip. Sounds good
Both systems sound good for sure!
What company’s tunes are on the white truck?
What's the suspension/wheels and tire setup on the white truck?
We made a whole video about the white truck. check it out on our channel!
where did you find the 5in exhaust for LLY
What size lift does that Chevy have?
Yo man I own this truck now how do I get ahold of you ?
Was the white truck was purchased in Winchester, Virginia?
Are those exhaust kits aluminized or stainless steel?
I think stainless steel
.... welp. The 4" kit is my pick. But.. are these otherwise stock?? All that tourq and THATS a burn out?.. granted 35/37.. but ok.
man this makes me want to get a duramax so bad
There amazing trucks!
It’s fun until you have to work on them lol.
You mention they do not have a muffler. What about a CAT for either?
No cats literally a strait pipe!
Why 5 inch, the downpipe can only be upto 3 inches before it hits the cab
It's a diesel thing
What’s all done to them?
Mine 6.6 duramax 5 inch down pipe
I have the 5 inch no muffler with the downpipe you can hear the turbo a lot better.
What kind of down pipe do you have?
@@RadMachines MBRP 3” down pipe to 5” exhaust. I did it right when I did the exhaust because I was only messing with the exhaust one time only.
Yea exhausts are not the most enjoyable things to do especially when they are rusted on. Maybe on my next truck ill do a down pipe.
@@gabeschepers5864 did you get the 5 inch cat back? MBRP no longer had a 4-5inch straight pipe that I can find
@@bigbucksbigtrucks1722 no it was straight back from the down pipe
Hard one to call, both sound great! I have an LBZ and thinking of building a custom exhaust, but really not sure, 4" or 5" and what muffler and where? I tow heavy so don't want too much drone
No muffler
4 inch 👍🏻
both : eat sleep dream duramax
Right right
Little late to the party but the 4” sounds louder
The burnouts wegre for testing purposes only😂
Sounds like the 4 inch sounds better. A lot more whistle
That 4 inch sounds pissah dude when she's revved tho
5". The quicker I get the exhaust out, the quicker I can suck in fresh air.
0:46 before the turbo spools. That's the best sound, fuck that turbo wine
5 inch sounds better
Shit man, NVM. I see the license plates now
Too much turbo not enough bark
For the 4 inch exhaust I'm assuming?
@@RadMachines both I have a 06 LBZ and that hair dryer sound gets old after awhile.
I see. I guess it all depends on what you like
Kind of the LLY way lol
It's the wooshy stock down pipe. A 3" aftermarket dp is well worth it.
that chevy is a LB7 not a LLY
lol
@@RadMachines Go do a VIN search and tell me its an LLY.
They both sound like vgt's to me.
8th digit 1=lb7
8th digit 2=lly
The 8th digit was 2.
Chevys better cause it’s a cateye
I think the gmc looks better. But if the cateye was built properly with a lift and tires I agree it would look better.
And that GMC Sierra. They're are cateye too.
GMC!
Veeeedeeeeo 😂
