Sound is measured in “decibels” (dB) not decimals haha non the less, great video man! A lot of time spent putting this together that I’m sure everyone with an LML will appreciate! Wish I could find a video like this for my truck; ‘15 6.7 Powerstroke.
First off; I have lots of experience with Powerstroke’s so i’ll try and do that over the course of a few months. The 2 popular setups for those trucks are a 4” race pipe & full 5” exhaust. Secondly, i’m an idiot. Lol. I was thinking i had spelt it wrong too hahaha
I run a 4” straigh pipe no tip, on my 14 LML and I love the way it sounds. A nice deep growl but still plenty of turbo whistle. Its currently a side exit but I’ve been thinking of doing an axle dump though
Interesting, I remember having a 4 inch mbrp on my lb7 and they didn’t send my muffler a few days before a Cali to Idaho trip and man I felt like it droned like crazy! Put the muffler on when I got home and the idle was noticeably quieter and there was next to no drone on the highway but when you got on it it seemed just as loud. Cool comparison of exhausts!
Hell yeah. I’ve got a tuned up 2011 3500hd Chevy Duramax with just a 4in, no tip. And honestly, I like that. Pulling a 24ft horse trailer with a load of bulls makes that old girl sound meeeaaaan
@@americanduramax no problem. I’ve been looking at exhaust and was considering to go muffless. I didn’t really see too much difference between the ones. It could the cameras mics though
@@OldFatSlow72 yeah it’s possible buddy. An “auger” style muffler can possibly rob HP/TQ like other high horsepower trucks on dyno’s show but they quiet the truck a ton more. If you want to really make a difference, get a 5” Flo Pro Twister, that’s one that seems to help a ton
Do you just remove the muffler and clamp or weld a pipe in place of it? New to diesels came from v8 performance cars and that’s all we did to make our cars louder!
Hi I have a 2016 Sierra 6.6 cab and chassis and wanted to know if the test pipe where it bolts to the down pipe and the cat is the same as a pick up I can't find any dpf delete pipes for cab and chassis I just need from where it bolts to the down pipe to the cat
Do you think the 4” is really louder than 5”? I have also read that 5” drone is worse than 4”. I currently have 4” straight on my L5P and love it but the 65-70 towing drone is bad
I think the 4” & 5” are extremely similar. They sound nearly the same to me. I can be blindfolded and hear a truck and tell you what it is at this point but a 4” or 5”, they sound the same. Drone was fixed completely with this MBRP, feel free to reach out to me to get you one but I’d recommend this. Inside the cab, was a incredible difference, outside the truck wasn’t much different
I have a question bro, I have a 2022 Chevrolet duramax I’m not gonna do the delete right now but I would like more noise!! is it bad to do the muffler delete on it and do straight pipe? It will bring any codes?
I run a 5" on mine because I daily drive it and it sounds great. It definitely drones more under a load on the highway so if you tow often I'd run a 4" or a 5" w/ muffler. Its also not all about decibels. They sound completely different. A 4" sounds more "windy" because of the exhaust velocity, where a 5" has less velocity and more turbo noises
This is the second video I have watched. I like the concept of the video but please learn this noun plural noun: decibels a unit used to measure the intensity of a sound or the power level of an electrical signal by comparing it with a given level on a logarithmic scale. (in general use) a degree of loudness. "his voice went up several decibels"
Haha yeah realized it in my editing of the video. Then decided to stick with it since I couldn’t re film it. Ton of earlier comments said the same thing
Got 5" and Muffler and Cruz at 67 towing cause 70 kills me Lmao. I'm getting old lmao love my D max best tow truck I ever had. I'm at 106,000 and run edt every fill up. Doing cp3 swap soon with fast setup in January 2022 😎🤘
I got a 13 LML with Fass and cp3 swap.. well worth it just for the peace of mind alone. Also got the 3 inch mbrp down pipe & banks high flow manifolds.. bout to run a 5 inch side dump I'm thinking.
So going up basically does nothing if your getting only 7 decibels louder. That’s not worth spending $800 for a new exhaust. Also the diesel mufflers are designed wrong. Engineers right? Go figure. Anyway the muffler has a pipe straight through so it’s the same as running a straight pipe. To muffle the sound it would have to go into a muffler and be blocked by some material to block the sound and not have a pipe going through or the same size. Just trying to use some common sense here
Just gonna say now. Backpressure should be non-existent in a turbo motor. You're restricting airflow. The reason for back pressure is for sound elimination. Thats it. When you allot it to breathe more. You will have alot more power and torque. Especially deleted and tuned. I work on the road so the only thing i can do legally is sound. I cant delete unfortunately as i go to some states that require emissions.i am looking at videos for auch a thing. Sound quality. I hate thr rolling wet fart sound diesels make. Otherwise i love my diesel. Haha. I have the 11 lml 3500hd
Actually doing a tow video is a big deal. I want to lower my egt’s and delete stuff. But I don’t want to drone up every hill, I pull. My wife is going to get irritated. And that won’t justify the mods… so yeah it’s a huge deal bro. Make the vid
Dude if your really trying to grow your channel you might want to consider studio lights for filming in dark places like your garage. Just sayin, otherwise good video.

where do you get the steel pipes?

What is that raspy sound at the beginning of startup that seems to go away? Is that an LML thing?
Turbo vanes opening and closing, all newer diesels do that but its more pronounced on a deleted truck and especially duramax’s LML/L5P’s
Tis the sound of a magical offroad machine 🤓😎

same lol
Is there anything done to the blue truck besides exhaust and tune?
S&B intake & Airdog buddy!
Decimals is the period between numbers. Decibels is the unit of measurement for sound

That’s what I’m wondering
I’m looking to get a 24 dmax. What u recommend for a good exhaust? Never had a dmax b4
cant get a exhaust without doing "clean emissions"

Hey buddy, there is no muffler on the L5P trucks unfortunately , so there is no way currently to make more exhaust noise or sound without a delete :/
@@americanduramax that’s fucked up, appreciate the info
I have a 5inch with back pressure when i decelerate it knocks a bit wanna know how i make that stop? And i have a l5p
Idk why they do that but it's not knocking, its the injectors i think. weird sound. worse with an intake

Is that with a stock down pipe?
My blue Duramax has a PPE downpipe, the other truck has a stock downpipe. I noticed no sound difference in my customers trucks or my truck IMO

Possibly should be called a resonator, it just removes that drone noise in the cab. Who knows who’s really engineering this stuff though
