For me, it's one of the rare cases where a pop artist has managed to sing a classic tune to perfection.
Klaus Nomi's icy, disembodied voice really gives the impression that he's singing about his own death.

Klaus started his career when he was 34, and died at 39. Way too soon for such a genius to leave us, seriously, why do the best always go so soon? He had decades of musical talent to provide us with :s

    Masterpiece!
I think the life of Klaus Nomi is should be a film or a book. It ends tragic (he was one of the first AIDS-patients; nurses would put a plate for his door in the hospital because they were affraid of the virus). But it also has a little boy in Germany listening to Maria Callas & rock. His performances in NY in the 70's and 80's were legendary and even people like David Bowie would come see them. He's a paradise-bird. Good to see/hear the Cold Song here

I always saw Purcell's 'King Arthur" as somewhat weird and nonsensical with scenes like the Cold Genius and magick woods and whatnot. I almost think having seemingly random reasons for songs like this was more Purcell just playing with the genre and with styles. He wanted a song with this very deliberate and very focused pacing that keeps rising so he found a way to force one in so he could experiment. That being said, as much as his version of the story is bonkers, the song was brilliantly composed and considering how hard I imagine it is to sing in that very forced and deliberate pace Nomi absolutely hit it out of the park with his rendition. Seeing the live version just reaffirmed how great a singer he was and what incredible control he had over his voice. Truly one of a kind and an irreplaceable voice.

    Fucking Aids.
As far as I can remember, I was kid as that time, and, on french TV, on Sunday morning, I use to see him in his celluloid apparence.
It was at home. Always in black and white, on black and white screen. And every time I heard him, was an ecstatic moment. When you're less than thirteen, every strange is already what could reality should be. It's a matter of fact. I grew up on an island, in Brittany, in France, call Groix.
He was revisiting voices, men voices. The art of a Castra, so amazingly well.
For decades, he's still in my mind, part of myself. I met a photographer on the island, his name was Gérald. He was a friend of Klaus. We chatted a day and he told me who he was. For me, I was trying to believe than Gérald knew him. Pictured him, and shared time with him.
    Bless you All.

Enfant il me faisait Peur !

This is the 2nd song i hear from Klaus Nomi. So, i have never been a fan of his. But, clearly, this person was not just brilliant and talented, he possessed something that very few have had in this earth. He had a force, a light, a vibe guiding him, as classical composers like Bach and Beethoven did. And i can seriously say that i am saddened by the comparisons i read people making here of him and some music industry pupped/product of today.I am referring to all of Nomi's fans,Don't fall 4 it.
