if there’s one thing you could commend threshold animation on around this time, they certainly pushed for more stylisation and cartoony squash and stretch than like every other CG studio at the time (at least up until larry kasanoff went gaga for underdeveloped 2000s motion capture)
@@CranberryCartoons You know, if Larry Kasanoff didn’t go for motion capture, FoodFight would’ve elevated to “So bad, it’s good.” The story isn’t so much the issue, rather it’s deciding to use mocap for everything.
Hard to believe this was made by the same studio that originally did Foodfight! Makes me wonder now if the planned final version would've been better had it not gone through the ordeal and finished by the company that acquired it. And yes; I saw the original trailer for the film, but after looking at this, what if *that* footage was all just a work-in-progress? And I believe the pre-recorded lines were a guide track for whoever was scheduled to host the show. And if I'm not mistaken, that's the voice of Maurice LaMarche as Johnny Proctor I hear. ;)
You're correct! The footage from the first trailer was all test animation and hero shots from a sizzle reel shown to potential investors at the time. But it is fun to wonder what a whole movie like that could've been like. Thanks for your theory on the voice lines! That might very well be the case. I'll talk to the person I got this from today and ask if he knows the actual reason.
I am glad that this is no longer lost media. I'm astonished that Hershey didn't copyright claim or strike this video. Hershey still should've re-released it on Blu-ray/DVD after they closed the attraction and replaced it with the 4D Chocolate Show.
I remember watching this Movie back in 2012 With my Dad At Hershey Park, its nice to see this movie in High Quality 12 years later. Thank you for Preserving this Film.
Never expected this lost piece of media to be found but glad it did!! even though this show is gone, the “welcome to the word of chocolate” song is still used for the HersheyPark entrance, however, still wondering if it’s possible for the 4D chocolate factory mystery show to be found too but for now I’m glad this is found
Never thought I'd see the day where the whole thing would be posted online in this quality. Thanks for bringing back so many memories of me and my families trips to Hershey
Hershey’s Really Big 3D Show literally shows that the studio could have done SO much better with Foodfight but they made that movie one of the most unbearable and worst movies I have seen in my life!
I work at Hershey chocolate world at the great candy expedition and have the sign of the tittle for the big 3D show outside the theater in my house! I don’t know why they gave it away for why I took it but I have it ❤ I ts been so long I almost forgot about this. It was fuzzy in my mind.
This makes me think and imagine... what if?.. the original footage of Foodfight we see wasn't meant to represent the actual movie and this short represents what the actual animation would look like
Okay, that dude in red, has got to be my favorite character from threshold, he kinda reminds me of that character voiced by danny devito who trained Hercules in the Disney Hercule film. Plus, his animations felt like something out of 90s disney and 50s looney tunes.
Yeah if I was forced to work in a cold, dark n' dank studio working on a subpar movie, all while hearing this show's song on loop in the background for nearly a decade? I'd be irritable enough to leave a scathing review of the film on Amazon too. That being said, the animation here is MILES better than what we got in with Foodfight.
holy shit if the stories are true, listening to this shit on a loop would drive me insane. like daryl in twd when he's locked in the cell forced to listen to that cheery shit as torture
Dude this is the year of lost Threshold media, first this and now the 2003 Foodfight Workprint! What next……um……..I don’t really know…..um……The Foodfight Video Game? EDIT: OH MY FUCKING GOD, I WAS RIGHT.
It still exists. The studio has it as well as another crew member (and likely a few others that I don't know of). I just don't have a copy and the member that does only has it in pieces and is not comfortable sharing it due to professional courtesy. The 2003 version was only a 7 minute reel though. There isn't an entire movie to search for.
Never seen this before, was referred by blameitonjorge. It expresses exactly how I feel about Hershey's chocolate, particularly the chocolate syrup (for me, the flavor of 1962, but from a can!)
1:55-2:10 Jesus, I just love the strong poses. And this is from early CGI.

No wonder they were posed to be the next Pixar
Not early, it's from the early 2000s.
CG animation has been a thing since the 1970s.

i saw this when it was still showing and never assumed it to be lost, nor by the fucking FOODFIGHT people

I usually know the animation studio who made the LEGO Hero Factory cartoon more but fair point lol.

They also did the original version of Epcot’s Mission: Space and the 2012 redo of Universal’s The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.
…alright, so who voiced Hershey here? And why do I have a feeling that it may or may not have been Ogie Banks?
Just a guess of mine; I’m really not sure
…apparently, clips of this show have been featured in at least one playlist featuring Ogie’s voice
It might’ve been him
Holy crap Gary Goddard directed this?? Dude made some of the finest Vegas attractions in the 90's. Landmark Entertainment was awesome.
2002 I think this was released but yeah it's amazing for it's time
@@Bluespark_animationLandmark did attractions in the 90s but this show was 2002 yeah
This is awesome. Thank you. I lost count of how many times my daughter and I saw this. It’s like an old friend.
I used to love this ride as a kid because they’d give you free chocolate afterwards
Wrong ride. That's chocolate world. They still do that too. This was a 3d show on the side

SUPER cool to see this. I can definitely see the resemblance to Foodfight though the animation here is significantly better. Thanks for posting.
From the studio that brought you Food Fight 😂😂😂
Nice to finally see this again. I've only seen it once when it was at Hershey Chocolate World and I've been looking for this forever
Maurice LaMarche is the best voice actor who played Johnny Proctor from the 3d show.

We need Danny Devito to come into chocolate world dressed up as Hollywood Johnny Proctor 😂😂

I've only seen cam recordings of this, I didn't now someone uploaded the full thing in glorious HD.
Since the original video linked is stereoscopic and side-by-side, how did you get one of the lens to be full-size?
I was given a copy of each. This copy was specifically rendered in monoscopic.
