back in middle school me and a buddy would watch this video every weekend. this dude was a meme before memes were even a thing. how could someone NOT like Johnny demarco
He's just as nice in person! I had the pleasure of meeting him at a local music store. Really nice guy, told me how he got to be a Roland rep and even gave me a one on one demo of the Roland Cube and a Roland midi-equipped Strat. I couldn't say no to the amp at that point. Haters can keep hating, Johnny DeMarco is awesome.
I bought the Cube 60 amp back in late 2005 after watching this video several times. 17 years on, I still own the amp and works well, and coming back to this video is like revisiting an old friend.
I met Johnny yesterday at a small mom and pop guitar store in Texas giving a demo of Boss and Roland amps.I found him to be a fantastic player and a very down to earth intelligent person ,he answered all questions no matter how lame (mostley from me) and was about as nice a guy as you'll ever meet. Good luck in Huntington beech. GM
@@bloodflower2141yep, I bought mine when they first came out and still play it today Unfortunately I think it’s on its last leg. Every now and then it will cut out or drop in volume. I did locate a cube 80XL on local Craigslist in near new condition for $200.00 There’s one on reverb for $500.000 😮
I don't doubt it, he seems pretty versatile in those demos he does, but I just find his demeanor funny. But you can tell the guy has passion, no doubt. I like him, for what it's worth. I don't know if he's like that as an act or not. But yeah, He seems pretty cool.
thank you Roland for making the best damn amp ever with the OG Cube 60. This amp continues to blow me away in 2023. Also JDM is an absolutely wholesome dude!
The very first time I saw this video, I was living in georgia, and married to a woman I hated, we were broke as all hell and I had sold literally all of my guitar gear and i was researching a cheap SS combo, and this guy really cracked me up. . . .12 years later, my life is totally different. . .I never did get a cube because I came to the conclusion it was just too expensive at the time, but thanks to this guy for making me laugh in what was really a dark time
Great player, everything from gentle and beautiful to raw and powerful. I'd be smiling like that if I could play as well as this guy. Thanks for a great review Johnny!
Johnny DeMarco is a legend and a really genuine guy. His short gear demos have more life and positivity in them than any other gear demos I've seen on TH-cam. For people leaving silly comments about Johnny smiling in the videos, it's called Enthusiasm and being happy - try it sometime Emos, it's fun.
Johnny you are the king! Now I'm even more happy I bought this amp years ago. Used it on quite a few jazz gigs but am now using it in a rock band. really versatile amp.
Hey you can't blame him for really getting into his playing and enjoying it. He was very helpful too. Great review, I'm interested to look more into this amp now.
I love your energy, the best live rev I've enjoyed on you tube, you are awesome, and I play blues, R&B, funk, and gospel bass guitar..............love it Johnny.
I've owned one of these for about 5 years, and I'd recommend it highly. I've used it in different playing contexts, including rock, swing, as an acoustic amplifier, and even to amplify banjo and mandolin. The EQ, effects and amp models make it easy to tweak your sound. Plenty loud! And it's inexpensive, indestructible and can be carried in one hand. Cheers.
ok, the longer i watched this video the further my jaw dropped, by the end it had gone thru the floor. I've been on the cube 60 in a shop, i was so amazed i nearly hyperventalated. DeMarco looks like an awesome guiarist. I'd love 2 learn that little bit at the end he was playing!
I have used mine for every gig I have played over the last 5 years. I love this amp. Light, lots of clean headroom, and very expressive. It isn't meant to take the place of a Mesa or Marshall. But for blues, jazz, or country gigs it works great . I have used it in coffee houses and concerts. He says that the delay and reverb are great, but that is the one thing I find not to be the case. The delay is there but there is no way to bring up it's presence. Same w/ Reverb.
The "Dyna Amp" setting on this amplifier is one of the main reasons why I bought this amp. It gives me the opportunity to pick strings lightly without having to dial down the volume knob on my guitars to get a clean tone, while also providing distortion when needed without me having to stomp a distortion pedal (a distraction when playing live gigs).
Johnny DeMarco "The Greatest American Hero!" AKA William Katt as Ralph Hinkley/Hanley Believe it or not! He Is My American Hero! Johnny DeMarco Rules! God Bless the U.S.A!
You don't want to rely on the camera microphone to accurately capture an amp's sound. Using a proper instrument mic allows us to better hear the amp as it really sounds.
that's an awesome bedroom/small jamming amp. I used to have the Roland Cube-30 and that was great as a starter amp to cover all the bases. But this one is more better.

how could someone NOT like Johnny demarco
Memes were already a thing by the mid-2005's, they just had not reached the mainstream yet. :)
So true lol
i used to watch this video from the guitar world cd (i think) in the mid-late 2000's, it's a winner
I love this guy. Bless his heart.
Its been 10 years, ive come back just to watch his amazing playing and facial expressions
Its October 2019. I still do the same
Me too lol

IronShligger I'd bet it was really uncomfortable to stand and have to watch that..probably alone as well.

Ya know...this exact video convinced me to buy this amp years back.
Interesting stuff right here
Was it worth it???
The sounds says....bad 80's guitarist.
The look says....Mormon and/or IT guy from the early 90's.
The dialog says....Sesame Street musical guest.
lmao wtf
ROFL hahahaah XD XD
lol
Best comment ever, did not disappoint
You don't think he is good? He's goofy, but also jams

GM
Why did I just find this? This guy is a riot. I really get a kick out of this. Rock on Johnny!
Seems a fun guy, guitar should be fun as well as being hard work😂 or every other idiot would play better than Jimi.
Couldn't agree more. He shreds, and go figure, he's a shredder that's actually likable! This is the kind of guitarist I would ENJOY studying under.
his voice is so soft and harmless, but when he's playing he's like a wild animal :P
this dude comes across the me as a "Bob Ross" of music gear lol
To me**
13 years later and this video still makes me want to buy a Roland Cube 60 even with all the modern technology that exists today...
still a better amp then most of them too
@@bloodflower2141yep, I bought mine when they first came out and still play it today

Man he was honestly the reason I was obsessed with roland and boss way back! I watched it so much i had the GT10 video memorised hahaha
I keep coming back to this video periodically. I've seen it probably 500 times now....always a classic!!
stop hating. this guy is a beast. I knew him from the early 90's in Cleveland. his brother freddy is a best as well.
I don't doubt it, he seems pretty versatile in those demos he does, but I just find his demeanor funny. But you can tell the guy has passion, no doubt. I like him, for what it's worth. I don't know if he's like that as an act or not. But yeah, He seems pretty cool.
Z_Man1209 I fully agree. His playing is impressive and his "characer" quite funny. XD

Stay strong. JD helps us all
Great player, everything from gentle and beautiful to raw and powerful. I'd be smiling like that if I could play as well as this guy. Thanks for a great review Johnny!
The DeMarco family never fails to entertain.
This man could sell anything, with his greater than great "SUPER" attitude.
He is showbiz
I beg Johnny D knows where to score a decent bag of pot
Dean Smith hell yeah he does.
He is the plug man

As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters. Wish I was half as good as you. Merry Christmas Bro.

Johnny needs a stage.

Johnny you are the king! Now I'm even more happy I bought this amp years ago. Used it on quite a few jazz gigs but am now using it in a rock band. really versatile amp.
You can't deny that Johnny sends really positive vibe somewhat funny to the viewers.
I'm diabetic...cant watch this..too sweet
How did You like the Gentleness of that KICK over into the Tremolo on the foot-switch? :D
I love this guy.
Guys like this, grunts of the industry, always amaze me at how many different styles they can play well.
This guy is my guitar idol, for the rest of my life, I would sell my car to meet this guy....
The day this video is removed is the day the internet dies.
I actually really like this guy.

5:50 Are those Jordans? Wow lol
Lmao
Yoooooooo, I never noticed that🤣🤣🤣
Nothing better than having an amp with versatile outputs
I love how they act like the "Dyna amp" is a new thing. When tube amps have been doing that for eternity.
I love your energy, the best live rev I've enjoyed on you tube, you are awesome, and I play blues, R&B, funk, and gospel bass guitar..............love it Johnny.
0:44 he flips us all of ROFL

I swear he's blowing a load with every single note he picks

Hey kids, Johnny DeMarco here!
Great demo and a great amp. That dude kicks ass.
I want him to read me stories whilst playing ripper guitar solos.

"Lets add a little bit of reverb" *adds delay* -.-

Johnny, You are a stud......rock on!
Fuck I could dial in a better metal tone on my pawned 10 watt practice amp. The rest of the cubes nice though
GG Allin we miss you GG
johnny deMarco is amazing, he should make his own solo album
So much rape. I'm showing this to my girlfriend so she can see what I'll be like in 10 years.
You're almost halfway there. Keep us updated
well?
I have this amp, and I find it sounds better than several tube amps I've tested... Roland really made it with this one!
This amp's metal setting is hilariously bad.
Get to turn to me it's almost all the way off get your game right and use your setting for your delay get it right and you'll be good
because if you are this good, and you can play kick ass solos, then it's just as fun as riding a rollercoaster. They just feel the music
This guy is cool, he looks like he enjoys playing guitar
One of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.
Thanks Roland!
Great! Both the player and the amp.
We need Johnny now more than ever
my brother have the roland cube 30, and it's so exellent!! i love it!! this is my next amplifier!
Johnny DeMarco "The Greatest American Hero!" AKA William Katt as Ralph Hinkley/Hanley Believe it or not! He Is My American Hero! Johnny DeMarco Rules! God Bless the U.S.A!
This video is absolutely brilliant haha , I wish someone could tab this, would love to be able to play all these licks
You don't want to rely on the camera microphone to accurately capture an amp's sound. Using a proper instrument mic allows us to better hear the amp as it really sounds.
i like that little grin he makes
I love the way he smile :D
The Best Cube 60 demo I've seen...
that's an awesome bedroom/small jamming amp.
I used to have the Roland Cube-30 and that was great as a starter amp to cover all the bases. But this one is more better.
Just got this amp yesterday pretty awesome I'm no guitar expert but the distortion is amazing really chunky when palm muted sounds impressive.
Come for the amp demo but stayed to listen to his killer chops!
6:35-6:59 is just beautiful
Johnny Demarco rules!
