  • This ready to fly RC model of the Flying Tigers P40 Warhawk is so much fun to fly. Its stabilization system helps keep it flyable even on very breezy days. Find it here, and try coupon BGP40CN for 20% off bit.ly/P40-War...
    Pros
    - Ready to fly plane with included transmitter.
    - Constructed of flexible and crash resistant EPP foam.
    - True four channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and aileron control.
    - Plenty of power from its 1020 brushed motor.
    - Three selectable flight modes.
    - Controller also includes
    - One key return
    - a stunt button that allows the airplane to automatically conduct aileron rolls.
    - Controller can be used while other controllers are active. Dogfights!
    - Quick disconnect propeller saver automatically disconnects the propeller in a crash to prevent propeller or motor damage. Propeller can be quickly reattached after the crash to continue flying.
    - Very efficient flier. It's 3.7V 400mah battery provides about 15 minutes of flight time.
    - Can be flown with multi-protocol transmitters using V761 protocol. I demonstrate such in the above video.
    Cons
    - Brushed motor airplane. Its motor will eventually fail some day. Strongly recommend allowing 15 minutes motor cool down between flights to improve motor longevity.
    - This one can stall, even if in stabilized mode. So stay alert if flying at low throttle.

    7:24 "It uses the V761 protocol..." A priceless bit of information. That is why I never skip the whats-in-the-box portion of your videos. You always provide helpful information about the model you are reviewing. Thanks!

      And at 24:15 I actually fly it using V761 protocol.

    I never flew control line planes, but my Dad was the director of a parks system when I was a kid, and one of the parks in the district had a regulation, "flying field." I used to go watch them all the time. Seemed potentially dizzying!
    PS: I always love the enthusiasm in your videos, but this one you were particularly enthusiastic. I could hear your inner kid just happy as could be, finally flying an RC version of a plane you've loved forever.

    I was not working age when I got my first cox engine. I helped a neighbor poor the foundation for his cabin holding the concrete pump hose. He bought me an 0.49 golden B engine with the larger gas tank. I built a bat plane (just big wing) and I got help from my big brother getting started. I eventually had to find money for gas, accessories. I recently got this P40 on sale but its been a cold winter to fly.

      @@Quadcopter101 I remember getting burns on my fingers learning how to handle planes with hot motors. I'm 57 and disabled and not working and my brother just retired so he got me going on RC cars and I started buying these warbirds. I'm in WA State and he is in Cali. but he still comes home once a year because both parents are still around(87 and 86). I lost a 62 year old sister last spring.
      I have admired the P40 since I found the book "Flying Tigers" in my school library as a boy.

    Didn't have a P40 but we did fly control line planes with the Cox .049 engines. Wood propeller were being replaced by the new nylon ones which could cut your finger if you weren't quick enough. Lost a plane to fire when the battery sparked on some spilled fuel.

    I probably flew every U-control offering from the LM Cox Thimble Drome company (back in the day). Not only the P40 Warhawk, but also: PT-19, Stuka, Piper Cub, Helldiver, P51, Spitfire and Spook (flying wing). Graduated to .35 size combat & stunt ... then on to RC (single channel to start .. with a Citizenship tube transmitter). Been a long journey, but I wouldn't change any of it.

    1 thing that has not been checked with these newer bolt-in flight boards used on the Bf-109/Spitfire/P-40 is whether it is still possible to reverse the stab/stick control directions. For testing this you will need 1 of the old transmitters with the push-in top/push-in bottom trim buttons (NOT the push-up/push-down trims as on your Tx there!) I'm not sure exactly when the change took effect but we have the original P-51 in the brown cardboard box and early versions of the Volantex V761-4 Sport Cub 500 with the correct Tx for changing our later P-51s/Corsairs/Trojans.
    If you have an older Tx could you kindly check that the feature still remains? It can be a big help if trying to fit a V761 board in another modified or scratch-built plane. 🙂

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just tried it with my P51 controller vs the newer Warhawk controller. As you suspected, you can not reverse the controls with the newer trim slide switch controller. But reversing controls by holding a stick position before binding still works with the P51 controller (with pushbutton trims).

    Thank you so very much for your awesome review video.
    Do you know if the transmitter can be changed from Mode 2 to Mode 1 as I was taught on Mode 1 and I have tried flying on Mode 2 but can't get my head around it.
    Thanks.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, Mode 2 transmitter only with the RTF version. BUT this can be bound to a Mode 1 multi-protocol transmitter using V761 protocol.

    • @CybaGirl
      @CybaGirl ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Quadcopter101 hello and thank you for taking the time to get back to me. This is a shame about the transmitter that comes with it.
      Can you please recommend a multi-protocol transmitter that has the V761? I will only be using it with this plane. So I really don't need anything fancy or too expensive.
      Thank you.
