I am tamilian, after watching this video, Soundarya did a fantastic job and found that jothika version was completely referred by Soundarya only not shobana.
Definitely, Soundarya was the perfect choice for this subject when comparing other heroines
and she was supposed to do tamil version too but god had taken her earlier from us.

Being a malayali I appreciate the effort of actress Soundarya. Though, this movie is a remake of our Malayalam movie manichitrathazhu. Soundarya give justice to this character.

In the Tamil version jyothika and Rajinikanth too much over acting and the Tamil audience saying that they are the best. Only Tamil people like Tamil version .
Tamil movie was a cliche movie. It gave important to Rajinikanth only.He wants to be the main. Jyothika with LED LIGHT in her eyes was a national joke.
But in the Malayalam version it is a women centric movie.

Yes. First remake was in Kannada and was a faithful remake of the Malayalam version. After the Kannada version became a hit, everyone else started making it in other languages. I don't know why people want to one up with versions. I feel connected to Kannada and Malayalam versions. The later versions try to create more reaction from audience by trying to add unwanted horror elements or over the top acting which to me looks very childish. It reflects what kind of audience those languages have.

I mean how can some dumb people say Jyothika is better than Soundarya 😂😂😂😂. Jyothika expression throughout the movie was overdramatic. I will give just one example, see the scene where Nayanthara and Jyotika meet to make the key for Chandramukhi room. Jyotika was giving expression like villain or already she is possessed by ghost. See the same scene in Kannada, u will know the difference. Also see the scene where Jyotika shows chandramukhi jewels to Rajni, see the same seen in Apthamitra. So there is no comparison between Soundarya and jyotika. Soundarya has given perfect expressions throughout the film according to the scene. And one more thing apthamitra songs and bgms are on another level. Apthamitra looks like the film was made with passion and stayed true to the original. Chandramukhi looks like the forced remake of apthamitra.
To all those mental fanatics who call Chandramukhi as overacting & crap remake should realise that both Kannada & tamil version was directed by P Vasu. While the intention of Kannada version was actually to remake the malayalam film, Tamil version was done under totally different circumstances. It was Rajini's comeback after baba & fans won't accept Rajini getting underplayed in a women-centric movie in his comeback film which is expected to match the success of Padayappa (Valli was a flop before). So P Vasu adapted it to suit the taste of tamil movie lovers, making it a proper commericial horror movie, a genre in itself that time. Also Malayalam one was a psychological thriller and tamil version was a star vehicle movie with horror backdrop. Had they remade it as it is in tamil with Rajini, it would have bombed at BO like Bangalore days tamil remake. At the EOD, a movie is made to cater to targeted audience's interest and not to do scene by scene faithful remake scene by scene, which Chandramukhi grandiously achieved that time.
If you want to talk about Rajini's flying scene & gimmicks, I agree it is cringe now but the truth was, it was ignored by the fans as a part of 'Super Hero Rajini's usual gimmicks' then and most of the commercial movies tend to cringe with time and that's why most of the works of Kamal, Mohanlal, Rajkumar are timeless classics.
Chandramukhi is not crap but rajini jothika acting is funny and over 😂
As a malayali, the best remake of Manichithrathazhu was Kanada..All the other version just made it over dramatic and funny..Soundarya did justice to it..

Tamilians are blind towards their lang😂 It's only Tamils in the comment section who are saying Chandramukhi is better than Apthamitra 😂 Telugu People and Kannadigas and even Malayalees accept that the best remake of Manichitratazhu was Apthamitra. No other film did justice to the original script. Chandramukhi was just a film with all artistes over acting. Rajinikanth's scene with vadivelu in the bedroom scaring him was so filled with over acting. Infact, Vishnu Sir's performqnce in the same scene was so dignified, yet comical. He brought grace to the character. So natural and subtle. Soundarya acted v gracefully too. 100 times better than the overacting ka dukhan Jyotika. Directir had to put light on her eyes to get the feel 😂 That is Hillarious everytime I watch it. Soundarya waa terrific. We all know Manichitratazhu and Shobhana were the best. But undoubtedly, Apthamitra was the best remake. No exaggerations, no over acting.. Subtle and neat.. Tamils can never accept the fact 😂
