Great review, Billy! But DJI needs to take a page from the Neo launch and make it available without an RC. I already have a RC2 and don't need to pay for another RC I don't want. Also, looking forward to seeing you dig into active track. BTW what happened to the rumored beacon for tracking?
Why would they do that when they are trying to milk the last dollar from consumers? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the reason for releasing the air and the air s. Just release air s and trash the regular air.
Another great review Billy. I ordered my air 3S this morning and it is shipping today already! I’m Also am excited about a faster drone up to 60 mph is going to be sweet.

Technically I reckon the differences I spotted coming from the Air 3 were , 1 inch sensor , downward vision assist , LiDAR , 42gb internal RAM and horizontal speed of 60 (which to me coming from the Air 3 - it's already truly fast for me. haha . The only gig that would let me change from Air 3 to Air3s would just be the 1 inch sensor and the internal 45gb. Other than that, the rest is minimal.
Good-to-fair lighting, it looks like the 3S is now the king of the castle -- even over the Mavic 3 (at least it seems so from your assessment)...but you're right, the low light is a little disappointing. I just purchased one to get a look at it for myself but, as per usual, your review is right on the money from everything I see. Nicely done, dude.
I'm about to buy an Air 3 so it is great news to hear that the slightly larger capacity battery of the Air 3 S will fit the Air 3. That means the Air 3 achievable range can be bumped above the stock 46 minute battery life simply by using batteries from the newer Air 3S.
Love your review mate. ps when shooting in bright scenes it's always good to underexpose your shots. You can always recover your shadows but not your highlights
Billy would the lower bitrate issue be hindering the night mode? I saw some splodges on screen but probably because I'm watching a 4k video in 1080p on projector?
Great review. I'm getting decent results with stills at 50MP using Rawtherapee and Affinity Photo 2. I use the former for getting rid of noise and the latter for fine touches. Cheers, Alan, UK
So I downloaded the raw files and I looked at the footage on my 4k oled with and the footage is very noisy having large ammounts of artifacts if you look closely. Could you post some Log footage pretty please? Just for some better insight as yt compression is atrocious, other vids on yt don't really help because of that horrible compression.
Great footage Billy. Most complete video I have seen today. The hard image processing is indeed a bit harsh. Just like the Neo. Hopefully they will soften it with the next firmware. Also the glare at night it pretty annoying. But again, great footage and it will replace any Mavic 3 for sure. Cheers!
I'm curious how this sensor is better than the sensor on my Mavic 3 Pro? It has a 4/3 sensor on the main camera. This Air 3S only has a one inch sensor. What am I missing?
Thanks for the original files link! Part of me is too spoiled coming from high-end DSLR. While there are a few glitches and a few things that could be improved (bit rate for example, which MAY improve some of the minor issues I can see) the Air 3S does appear to be better overall than the Air 3, even considering the lens issues the Air 3 had on some examples. I'm convinced enough to buy one.
Hey Billy, as always your reviews are top notch and I always wait to get your perspective prior to making my purchases. I have to ask, how is this drone better, in any capacity, other than price , than the Mavic 3 Pro? I just don't see enough in this drone to replace my Mavic 3 Pro. Maybe I'm missing something. Is reaching 60 m/h that high on most pilots priority list? Perhaps with the availability of the rumored remote tracking device then that would be the real game changer but until then I'm holding out for the Mavic 4. Thanks Billy for the thorough review.
Maybe once freewell releases an LPR filter for the Air 3S that’ll fix the flare at night. That filter is specifically designed for that. I’ve got one of those for my mini 4 pro
Appreciate the detailed review! best i've seen and pretty much confirmed what I had initially expected - the few upgrades are not impactful enough to justifying upgrading from the Air 3.
I have a question regarding the DJIRC plus remote that’s got the 7 inch screen for the enterprise. Does that have O3-plus just like the RC pro for the Mavic three pro.
the low light is a bit of a bug bear for me, I guess it depends how much information the drone can capture during night photography, my Mavic 3 Pro was awesome, as was the mini 4 pro albeit with a much wider aperture, I am partially curious on this drone, but with the Mavic 4 on the horizon I am going to hold out till the end of this year for more leaks on that first. excellent review

Shame about no night mode but hopefully that's a future update or something. I currently have the Mini 3 Pro, and I think this will be a better upgrade than the mi I 4 Pro. I'll keep the M3P and grab one of these bad boys instead. How is the wind resistance of it?
The Air 3S shows a maximum bitrate of 130 Mbps (vs 150 for the Air 3), and some users report 80 Mbps at 4K 60fps and 60-65 Mbps at 4K 30fps. What Mbps did you measure at 4K 60fps? Thanks.
