Not only does it make Felix, Calhoun, and King Candy look.....lame, but it also makes Disney Speedstorm incomplete. Say what you want about Ursula's new voice. She's no Pat Carroll, but at least she makes Ursula feel alive and fun. Even Oswald and Ortensia talk! C'mon, Greedloft! Either all characters talk or nobody talks!
All characters period. Nickelodeon did that twice with their crappy kart racer, and its unacceptable.
If a game is about unlocking characters, mute characters are incomplete
For me who didn't even know her English voice growing up, it's perfect. lol
There only problem, they need fixed voice by Felix, Calhoun, & King Candy because there no voice so Disney company has do that fixed it three character.😡

I actually think Ursula is one of the best sound alikes. Elsa and Triton are the prime examples to me for bad ones.

Yeah... when the first Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl came out, people complained about how lifeless the game felt without the voices. They added the voices in a later update, and the sequel already included voices on day one. These iconic characters deserves better.
This is the worst change ever made to the game. I'm surprised since Disney always protects the quality of their characters, and Gameloft didn't respect that giving us half-baked characters.
We havent talked about how each time you level up, you have to claim your gold pass rewards TWICE ......EVERY SINGLE TIME
They are so desperate for players to spend real money.
Alternatively you can claim your rewards and instantly back out from Golden Pass view, then you'll have the rewards claimed.

I legitimately thought that my game was bugged at first when Felix and King Candy weren't speaking but their mouths moved. Turns out Gameloft just doesn't care about the game's quality trying to do whatever it takes to have the highest profit margin.
As a game ages, its revenue tends to decrease while the costs to maintain it stay constant. It's very likely they are exploring ways to reduce expenses.
I thought exactly the same thing when I first got them 2 days ago too. I thought to myself "what's up with king candy and Felix being so quiet? Did my game glitch or something?"
Turns out Gameloft is just being greedy and can't be bothered putting much effort into this game anymore.
At least Felix still has some of his game sound effects when using power ups, but it’s just so lifeless. Felix and king candy had some of the best vocal performances of the movie, so I can only hope we get to hear them again soon

This change left me in no mood to play with the pilots who didn't receive voice acting. I went to level up King Candy in the ranking games and I was so discouraged because there was no interaction. They could reverse this :/

Exactly what I was thinking.
I mean the only thing I could think of why they couldn't give King Candy or Jr. a voice is it probably came down to these 3 scenarios and all 3 could easily kill the goal
1. Gameloft reached out to the voice actors to see if they could help with job possible scenario they didn't return the call
2. They did return the call but couldn't figure out schedule to record the voice lines
3. The last one which I like to believe was not the reason is the actors were able to workout a schedule to record lines for the game but it came down to Money
Even if original voice actors can't get back, replacements are found all the time, not just for this game but the Disney parks and etc as well

@@whinkx yeah like Vanellope is voiced by Sarah Silverman’s sister in this game, and Ralph is voiced by a completely new actor who hasn’t played him before until now
Soundalikes at least are something!
The character voices add to the gameplay: when you get passed, your character says something. If they're invisible, you can start looking out for them. If it's a branching path track, you can get ready to deal with them when the track merges back together. At least with Wall E & Eve, you can discern if it's a good sound or a bad sound.
It feels weird cause even though they don’t talk alot in the game it just feels like they could have kept the deluxe cars and put the voices in the racers . cause when I play and use fix it Felix it’s like a beta version
And I had hope that they would someday add racing tracks for every mid-season racer like Wall-E and Oswald, but they can't even give every character a voice.
I would hate it if they added Kim Possible. If only Kim Possible and Ron Stopable have voice lines. Shego and Dr. Draken not having voices would suck.
Easily the worst thing Gameloft have done. I can live with the monetization, the massively unfair and inconsistent ranked multiplayer, and the regular bugs and crashes. I can't handle the missing voice lines however. For me the whole point of playing is to interact with the characters.

That could be even costlier. To use the actual recordings they need to compensate Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer. Far cheaper to have the character voiced by someone else. The downside is if Disney doesn't like the voice or thinks it's _too much_ like the original actor's voice.

Everyone’s gotta remember though. 1. It’s Disney 2. It’s a company funded by them. So I doubt they don’t have the funds to hire a random voice actor even one who’s fresh out of school that can impersonate these iconic characters.
But I completely agree though, I mean I was excited for king candy…and let’s be honest he’s not king candy with out his quick quips and silly voice.

I do find it awkward that Felix, Calhoun, and King Candy are all mute in Speedstorm. Was Gameloft unable to get Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, and Alan Tudyk to reprise their roles? For that matter, when Kermit and Miss Piggy get added as mid-season racers, will they get Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson to reprise their roles, or will they also be mute?
Kermit will 99% have a voice.
They just don't want to spend the money to pay the VA's. 😂
They don't even have to get the original voice actors, as long as they're doing a good job
there is no reason for them not to add voices to king candy and felix, considering that Ursula's voice actress has passed away and somehow they managed to add voices to her character 🤫
I said this in the other post, but I suspect that this, and not the ranking up system, was the reason for the Season 7 delay. It's freakin' Disney. Do you have any idea the layers upon layers _upon layers_ of approval you need to go through when it comes to Disney properties? If it was a cost cutting measure, they wouldn't have bothered voicing Venelope and Ralph.

in my opinion, this season is unfinished, lots of bugs, lots of downgrades in the crew and top speed, and non-existent Voices lines, I think tnbc was really season 7 but out of greed they changed it
What? I thought it was something that happened for this season for a few days and that they were going to add the voices to those who didn't have them, not that it was going to be a regular thing! That change is very cheap and lowers the quality of the game.
It’s a bummer that some of racers from Wreck it Ralph collection is not voiced. These racers have amazing voices. I hope this is not an occurrence with future racers. Sure drops the racing experience.
I'm sure they'll add voices in the future, they're just not ready yet. The real problem is the lack of communication on their part to confirm this.
Honestly I hope this is a temporary thing because they didn't have the time to record voices. If this is a permanent thing to save money .. then Gameloft is truly cheap company that doesn't care about the players.

I don't know about the rest, but it's a shame that the characters don't have a voice, except for Ralph and Vanellope.

I literally thought my game was glitching because I didn't hear Felix talk when I played as him. It's such a weird decision, it reminds me of when Multiversus used archive audio for Rick and Morty instead of recording new lines
well for multiversus i feel like the reason they use reused lines is because they were still getting the new acters i belive
Idk if you know this but Justin Roiland was going through a time consuming court case where it was claimed he engaged in sexual harassment and abuse. Man had no time to record anything 😅

It's so bad it stoppee me from coming back, I was gonna come back and buy Vanellope, and play the whole season, because I really adore Vanellope and wreck it ralph as a whole, but when I saw that, it completly took away any hope I had that the game could be better, and I have yet to play the new season, and I don't think I will anymore...
It’s TOTALLY WEIRD for Felix, King Candy, and MAYBE Sergeant Calhoun don’t have ANY voices. Which is TOTALLY weird, they have ICONIC quotes from the movie.
Here are my suggestions for these unvoiced characters:
Felix - Jack McBrayer
Calhoun - Laura Post
King Candy - Alan Tudyk
We should boycott the Calhoun pass so they will add voices.
I think they will fix this issue since this scenario happened to a recent Racing game on the Apple Store which was Warped Kart Racers with Luanne Platter who didn't get a Voice either but they fixed that in a recent event update for their game.
I really like king candy but don't use him because I don't like the silence
This game lives or dies on disney magic. It is not good enough on its own to pay for, but they decide the voices, the immersion, is the first thing they'll cut. They're just shooing away players at this point
that wouldn't be so troublesome if only non-speaking characters appeared like Dumbo or Dopey from Snow White

I don't know why they didn't add voicelines for king candy, felix and Calhoun, but these characters need voicelines, without it, the season is incomplete, this is absurd, let's have hope that Gameloft add voicelines for them.

I thought there was just a bug or something in my game, didn’t realize it was conscious decision by developers to get rid of voice actors
I thought it was a bug on the first day, but no... Pretty disappointed with this choice, hopefully it was just them taking some additional time to tweak some audio files or something. We will see 🤦♂

Some of those choices are quite cost prohibitive.
I guess I am the only on that thinks this is the ripple effects of the SAG strike. I know it ended last year, but the Disney Character Voice Actors were part of the strike to prevent AI from taking their jobs.
Honestly not a big deal at all for me. Love the new characters and enjoy playing them. 👍🏼
They managed to get a lot of the original actors for Disney to reprise their roles for this game and for the ones that didn’t, they got new VA’s to voice them, so why and how they couldn’t get voices for those 3 characters is beyond me!
as much as it sucks for certain VA's to not voice certain characters, it could be simply because they couldn't get the actual voice actor for the character. For example, Calhoun is voiced by Jane Lynch, and who knows what contracts she's currently in for film; chances are, she didn't want to voice an animated character for a video game. so yes, Gameloft could be considered stingy, but that's the best reasoning for it.

Could you imagine if Nintendo did this with Mario Kart 9 or A future Smash Bros DLC fighter having no voice despite 95% of the characters having one ?!
This makes me sad. Loses the charm and creates paranoia for people who want a character they love in the game.
I want X and pray they get a voice actor. And if they do get in they’ll be more upset or very confused. New players who joined this season already asked on the discord of King Candy and Felix having no voice was sone kinda bug.

It's one of the things that I didn't liked in this season.
I mean looks if they can't hire the original actors or use voice's clips from the movie and also they can't find look-alike voice actors, I would be fine if they use AI voices, I know a lot of people hate them (and even more if is in a product of a multi-million company) but is better that than have mute characters...
Voice acting would for sure cause character releases to be far slower than it is now. But it’s not as if they can’t be added later
I hope that with the seasons being split into two parts, it would encourage Gameloft to do frequent updates to Disney Speedstorm on a monthly basis as a way to keep the content flow going. So maybe, they'll add them in one of those updates. But either way, without all of the drivers having voice lines for a collection, what is practically the point of having this season in the first place. I wouldn't mind a mixed season that adds in characters to the already existing collections and adds in new courses that aren't heavily focused on a franchise.

The voices make the game interesting as you hear the characters most iconic lines and that's why I think speedstorm has made a mistake not voicing all the characters as it is not the same when racing with without a voice.
Is anybody else's your candyness king candy race not completing for them I've done it for 3 days now and the stun 3 races isn't completing

Why are they cutting costs if they are making more money with the new changes? The reason must be greed or the game is not sustainable anymore.
I agree with you. Like you I got into this game because I'm a Disney fan and grow up with all this characters so hearing their voices and one-liners is awesome. Some even have their original voice actors. Having some characters not have voices feels like it's incomplete and rushed just to get the new season on in time. I hope they will still add the voices. I heard some players find the voices annoying but the game has the option to turn the voices down.
I can take them increasing pricing for thing, I can take having to pay $10 for the Gold Pass but I can’t take characters not having a voice, ruins the whole game experience 😤
Was there an actual official statement that states this is a change, and that it is not a bug? If there is, I'm a little surprised it didn't get nabbed, screenshot or whatever and shown to us. Since without one, it still just feels like a bug or a bunch of speculation talking somewhere. Hopefully, it is actually an oversight, it makes the game seem weird.

Thanks for making this vid Skyliner. I expressed my annoyance on your last about the voice actor thing. I'm a nerd obviously but I imagined before this season came out that it'd be funny if they used the same voice actor for King Candy and the inevitable Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter racer as they're pretty much the same. Hope Gameloft changes their mind about this for future racers.
It's such a noticable downgrade, it makes me question how much longer speed storm will be supported and if I should keep throwing money at it. Which is a shame because it's one of my favorite racers.

I find it crashes alot now, and is laggy while loading new screen. Unfortunate
ursula the only disappointment was the fact her tentacles clip through if you put a wing on her cart. it was too distracting for me so never could do wings.
out of characters that i have gotten stich sounds just slightly off.
the voices not being there is even bigger disappointment. the characters i can put mental voice to voiceless since i have seen wreck it ralph so many times and it's sequel far less as much because the sequel wasn't as good as orginal. fun in some aspects however not as good.
king candy biggest disappointment for me besides the voice is his charged special doesn't have him go turbotastic bluring the screen of every opponent racer he passes giving him a boost and have turbo appear blocking there view and also locking there items and boost ability temporarily so they can't use em. the giant jawbreaker or gumball could have been his back special instead of charged give him three specials.
kermit the frog i hope won't be silent however he will probably be a speedster or trickster depending on if they make fozzie bear a racer or not.
besides kermit as a racer i hope for ms.piggy defender or brawler, animal defiantly a brawler, gonzo a defender or speedster, swedish chef a trickster or brawler. fozzie bear a trickster i don't know if i could put up with the puns.

Might be to do with contracts on the voice actors of the characters...it depends on agency and disney as gameloft is a third company in this situation even if that made this game. They probably have other voice actors replicate the voice and add on later date

Not gonna lie though, I still love playing as these characters, even without their voices, it doesn't bother me too much, it's just a little sad though as it probably has ruined it for some other people from a player's perspective.
I stopped playing day 1 after I bought the golden pass. This game is going everywhere but forward
I can say that not only do they lack their voicelines but they also made the game worse on bugs that don't want to patch them at all.
Noticed that during season 5 or 6, the game starts to de-sync more on wether you actually hit the other player on your screen. Even with great connections this is bad.
1. Dashing them on your screen doesn't even work at all as it shows and registers you hit em(brawler gains boost) but they are still there and can easily bash you back. When you actually bash them but missed them, they actually got hit except it doesn't register it to your screen at all as it does the stun animation on them only.
2. When you have used a skill that stuns your opponent, it shows that they got stunned except the crappy inner game didn't register that you hit them and doesn't give you any boost or any counter during a quest.
3. Times that yeah you touched them with a stun ready shield, fire kart, or any of those, it literally won't him em at all so its really just as bad that it makes it harder to stop your opponents.
4. Season 7 now lags frames at times which really it seems that this game is failing to maintain on its content at all that its nothing but a joke now that Gameloft being owned by another company had changed them.
If you wanna blame someone, blame the owners who own gameloft like a slave
Well with Nightmare Before Christmas if this is still an issue then I believe Jack is a no brainer for voiced character. The only question is between Sally and Oogie Boogie imo. For Inside Out it would be Joy and Sadness (they had the most screen time) and my most wanted Tangled Season would likely be Flynn and Rapunzel. I'm oddly fine with Flynn and Rapunzel being the only ones (though I would still love Gothel lines). Inside Out I'm not the biggest fan and will likely just play one or two of the racers. The biggest issue for me is Nightmare Before Christmas. I don't particularly care too much about the professor, but I believe Jack, Sally and Oogie Boogie all deserve the voice acting equally as much. I just hope Kermit is the mid season with lines cause as someone that never cared about the muppets growing up I still loved him (green is my favorite color and he has a funny and iconic voice).
MotorStorm is way better, not as many people attacking you with weapons
I was sorely disappointed with felix and king candy not getting voices, I really wanted to hear felix scream when getting hit or king candy's jovial but maniacle laughter as he over takes opponents. King candy himself was one I was looking forward to the most of the season.
Got 3 PS trophies because of the update.
Dang.. This was the Season I was waiting for to even consider getting the game.... This & Zootopia, but if only Certain characters will be voiced, that's a portion of the experience gone. :/

No voice character of the game, it seems has happened before, since im play F1 Race stars in ps3, character i've played like nico rosberg and michael schumacher doesn't have a voice, i don't like it and they're completely silent, im really need to complain about unvoiced character in disney speedstorm to gameloft, please giving a voice for all disney characters and make sure to fix this issues permanently!
The fact that after May 16th you wont be able to buy a golden pass with blue tokens, and you now have to buy TWO golden passes for each season going forward means, the fact that now some of the racers have no voices, is even more of a slap in the face because you have to actually spend money instead of blue tokens and spend twice as much on a golden pass. And then add the price of a vault pass on top of that. Greedloft has gone WAY too far. I bought a founders pack for Speedstorm before it became FTP. And I can say, going forward, I will no longer purchase any Gameloft games. They're far too greedy and profit driven, and it takes the magic out of this game.
As one who was looking forword to hearing Felix calhoun and king candy voiced this is very disappointing to me i still like the characters but its a shame that gameloft made this change

I do agree this is the worst change but I do have a theory on why it's likely. My guess is that well they have another game one that more garbage importantly could be making more money than this game asphalt 9. It's another high-speed game with a lot more fomo and pay to win and all kinds of dirty tactics to keep you playing My guess is that they're likely moving the budget of speed storm over to their asphalt 9 game. Keeping the game alive with more content That's probably all the license that they have in that game are really hard to maintain but unfortunately speed storm is now starting to be squeezed to death as they're taking stuff away from us as they move money away from this game and more towards their garbage fest
