A lot of PDs in Cali still use them. I love the crown vic, some of the Departments around me still have them but they are replacing them with Explorers and Taurus's

I’ve been living in Europe for the past twenty years and I can safely say the police cars here are terrible! That single light you’re talking about is very often difficult to see and when you call the police you better get ready for a long wait as well! In the USA there’s lots of lights because this is what the law requires and it makes certain you can see the lights from every direction and for 1/4 mile away minimum as well! It’s this way for safety and I wish the police where I live now were as well trained and equipped as they are in the USA. Here the police look like clowns in clown cars!
When I was younger my mother had a police scanner and I remember late one night hearing deputies talking on the radio about something just before dispatch came on saying “all units 10-3, 10-33 (stop transmitting, emergency traffic) home invasion in progress”. I jumped up and went outside and could hear sirens coming from every direction just after!
This reminds me of the scene in the Nightcrawler movie where Jake Gyllenhaal gets to the home invasion before the police and gets superb footage inside the house.

Second, everything would be incredibly boring if it didn't have stereotypes. Many cops laugh along with doughnut jokes because they're still a pretty accurate stereotype. These jokes have also made the police have a stronger public bond due to many instances of law enforcement officers helping out in doughnut shops with orders or similar. Relax a bit.
There are places here in the states that after calling 911 (your 999 i think?) It can take an hour for someone to show up. So you are left to defend yourself.

Well it's a HOME INVASION there supposed to respond as fast and safe as possible, but these guys wasn't going that fast, like a code 2 response, and it said something about k9 tracking a person so the reason the last unit went the other way is most likely because the guy went that way.

1980's my family owned a pawn shop my 5 year old nephew gotten a hold of the armed robbery button hit it a few times. Police responded code 3 we were like whats all those sirens next thing I see is a barrel of a shotgun poking though the door at a 45 deg angle officer peaking in. He takes a quickly look and yells Police department. We worked it all out about 5 officers showed up all with shotguns back then that's all they had except for pistols no AR-15s. They knew we had lot of guns in there were expecting a shootout turned out never happend. I was grateful of their fast response.
I saw a police incident tonight there was a police veichle with its emergency lights on and a few cars behind and there was lots of people fighting and yelling and straight after we went past there was another police vehicle with no police light but when I looked back BOOM! Emergency lights ☺️

That's one way of looking at it. But on the other hand, had there been pedestrians or bicyclists, running quiet could have been very bad. The cops in my Louisiana parish like to drive at code-3 speeds (like upwards of 80 in residential neighborhoods, and over 100 on highways) but without lights or siren. They've had several close calls but luckily no accidents - yet.
I drive Ford Taurus with an engine that has over 400 HP and when I respond to serious crimes, I love to respond at high rate of speed while being safe.
