    One of the better reviews out there for this speaker, and I've seen quite a few. I also have the XV900 and I agree that it sounds great but its volume-to-size ratio is off and I truly believe that Sony just does not understand what people expect "Mega Bass" to mean. Or, they understand but choose to ignore consumer demand. It's no surprise that the smaller JBL 310 can out-boom the VX900. It was actually a sort of kindness of you to not go right to comparing the XV900 to the 710 because the 710 will beat it easily.
    The only thing that stood out to me on your review that I thought was off-base is when you referred to the largest driver as a woofer. I can say with certainty, and Sony's own documentation backs me up, that it is merely a huge but full-range *driver*. It is not a woofer. There are no woofers in this box. That big driver has amazingly little excursion even at full volume. Had they made it into a real subwoofer the XV900 would have actually had a chance to beat the JBL 710, but they didn't, so it doesn't. Too bad. Still a nice speaker overall.

      Hay algo del XV900 de SONY que no se espicifica, es que se puede escuchar relativamente fuerte, no tanto quizás como el jbl, pero a su máximo volumen no va a distorcionar, es pura fidelidad.

    You might be mistaken re: port direction. Bass operates essentially Omni directionally, placing any woofer closer to a wall or corner will add a baffle step effect and allow for more efficient radiating of bass, thus creating a boost. Placing the port in front will allow the user to place the speaker flush against a wall without choking the reflex port and thus causing a loss of bass/excursion as with rear ports. Therefore, this may be a superior system if you are looking to adjust the position for maximum bass output.

    For people who say Sony bass isn't great, just a great reminder is that they are party speakers. The bass is tuned more for SPL than JBL does. I have an XP700 and the bass isn't super deep just because it's all SPL tuned. I have a 1300watt RMS Sony system and I can hear the XP700 from outside the house more than my high powered system.

    Comparison to JBL710 and bass being better... 710 is corded. When XV900 is corded, the bass increases... I've found the whole spectrum of quality increases when plugged in. To my non-professional ears, the XV900 sounds better, especially when plugged.

    • @Plantation1984
      @Plantation1984 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, I’ll have to check that. Just got my XV900 and wasn’t overly impressed with power of bass when not plugged in. It rattles the room, no doubt about it, it just doesn’t seem to hit HARD. I really find it to be a perfect speaker for my “man cave.”

    • @dougcjohn
      @dougcjohn ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree… in my 3 car garage that holds no cars… just toys, tools and wood working gear. With 2 door open, it’s loud to surrounding area…. Close door and sound contained but still can wake the area easily.
      Bass is strong, but I’d agree it’s not a sharpe bass that punches… it has good bass though.
      Have fun in the man cave!

    Everyone is talking about the bass, i mean it's not at the level of JBL 710 or even 310 but the vocal clarity is just perfect. As a party speaker high bass will be much needed but if in a room party where in every corner the vocals will go clearly then i don't find this speaker that of a bad buy.

    I just recently got the xv900, all I can say is disappointment. It has little to no durability at all, it's not whether proof or water resistant in any way, it's big bulky, and doesn't roll very well. Even though it can be taken from place to place. It's hard to call this a portable speaker. Unboxing is a pain. It scratches so easily on almost everything it comes in contact with. Not recommended for hardwood floors and definitely not for sitting or rolling on concrete. It drags and scrapes on the ground! Make sure to use moving blankets when transporting in the back seat! Somehow the soft fabric of my car seats rubbing back and forth from traveling caused blemishes on the cheap plastic 🤔 It has a 12in square subwoofer. It lacks low bass. When you invest this kind of money, you'd expect more. Everything else is just ok.
