    I put 5mm spacers between the FC board and the prop guard so I could fit the Gemfan 2015 props. It flies much better than with the 45mm props. Try it I think you will like it. Used longer screws due to spacers

    Thank you for doing this! For me, I'd have to decide if the loss of warranty and risk of damaging the 03 Air Unit is worth the 15 grams. This might be something I'd do with spare parts, rather than a brand new 03. This is why seeing guys like you do it is so awesome, it takes away some of the risk.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the end of the day, it's still wiping out the warranty so I'd buy one already stripped down from Flywoo if you don't want to take the risk.

    That is one of the coolest things I've seen in quite some time. I like the modularity of the Pavo frame and its size is its greatest asset. The only thing i would change is the have more mounting holes. That would give people some more options regarding motor choice. 57grams!!!! Pretty cool!!!!

    I had no idea that XT30 adaptor cable was a thing, wow that would have made life extremely easier for me as I have a million batteries for the Cetus X. I already purchased Betafpv's 2s usb charger that they just released though so I think I'll continue with the 2s batteries.

    Hey I Love your lightweight builds and the insights we are getting out of it. Maybe you could consider a update of your crux 3 silent build O3 version!!? Maybe this time with an open prop design but with props not in view. That way wie could compare nose levels between 1.6 inch and 3 inch 2s O3 builds? I really hope flywoo is going to update their firefly 1.6 babyquad as an O3 version . Love all the O3 Micros .

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I no longer have the Crux3 and that whole setup is on 1S which isn't compatible with O3. O3 needs 2S minimum.

    • @FlyingBeeFPV
      @FlyingBeeFPV ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbertKimTV that is really unfortunate, I would be very interested in a O3 version of the Silent, Light and Cheap Cinewhoop (Crux3 Conversion) 👍
      TH-cam · Albert Kim
      05.01.2021. Here you are saying that you flew it with a 2s 450 mah gnb. Happymodel also state on their website that the crux3 is 2s compatible. But I found out another potential deal-breaker the 5v bec has only 1Amp witch might be too small for O3. maybe it would be better to use the crux3 frame, props and motors + the new mobula8 digital AIO flight controller since we would not need the analog vtx anyway?

    wow that is naked 🙃 looks so delicate. Great light weight build, must of taken some time. Thanks for the jello reduction tips, the prop test tip (man, I thought all props would be balanced when new, but it makes sense (its just molded plastic). Good to know that the PID's don't affect the jello. seems to fly a lot smoother, great job Albert!!!!

  • @frankcastillo8869
    @frankcastillo8869 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That's a lot lighter and has better performance and flight time. Looks not as durable with the naked O3 in there but I'll take the flight time in this trade!

    Hey Albert, I'd like to build (or possibly buy) a sub250 quad that can happily carry a Runcam Thumb Pro,
    A freestyle cruiser that can take a hit and has enough power to do some relaxing freestyle (nothing crazy).
    If it was up to you, what size would you build? I'm thinking 3", 3.5" or 4"

    Awesome video as always. I just received my Pavo Pico for Walksnail system, can you make a video for binding the Pavo with ELRS? I have built so many quads and i never had issues with ELRS, Betafpv has the process of binding but. its for the old 1S FC and i can't find anything on YT. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason there are no TH-cam videos is because it's just a standard serial ELRS receiver just built into the board. You just follow the standard binding procedures documented at the ExpressLRS website... www.expresslrs.org/quick-start/binding/

    • @manski209
      @manski209 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbertKimTV Thank you. Five minutes after i asked you, i just went and updated ELRS firmware as i do with all ELRS RXs, and it binded at first try. I should have tried it first. So, if anyone reading this, if you can't bind your Pavo Pico with the 2S FC, make sure you update the ELRS firmware and bind it as you do with a regular ELRS rx and it should bind easily. Thanks again Albert.

  • @ChrisHarmon1
    @ChrisHarmon1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not bare minimum. I have a 19.5g hdzero 65mm that I would say is close to bare minimum without sacrificing durability too much. You have plenty of screws that can go RENY on motors/camera/flight controller. For connector I would use the new A30 and try to cut back the heatshrink some. Remove shielding on cable from VTX to cam, remove rear half of frame around VTX and replace with custom designed foaming TPU grommets/protection(halves weight and has give in crashes), remove the heatshrink from the two antennas and the balun (metal bell shaped piece) leaving just the 12.92mm of unshielded wire exposed. Can go much deeper by removing or dremeing away the RF shielding and soldering antennas directly to PCB but eventually you run out of ideas. My last move on my 65mm was to chop half the VTX mounts down to bare minimum and remove the RF sheild clips left after prying off the RF shielding.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, definitely a lot more I can shave off on this build. Might even try an 0802 motor to get it even lighter. Comparing a 65mm to this one is kinda silly though.

    • @ChrisHarmon1
      @ChrisHarmon1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbertKimTVWas not meant to be a comparison just an example of my experience being the lightest HD 65mm I have heard of. If this quad has the BetaFPV 1102s they are already pretty light but you could try 1002s to save about 0.2g - 0.3g each. I have also had success removing the shielding from the USB port leaving only the pins inside which saves around 0.5g. On my DJI Vista cameras I remove 2 of the screws holding the lens housing on and shorten the other two screws while discarding the back plate(perhaps you have done this or it's not possible on 03). To ensure the MIPI cable stays connected a tiny drop of hot glue or e6000 could be used. I have had luck with nothing securing it but the plugs friction.

  • @jjbross7473

    But isnt it with all the super light parts and the naked go pro n stuff very fragile?

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually more durable because it's a lot lighter. Less mass equals less kinetic energy squared...

  • @menthous305
    @menthous305 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey albert awesome build, just an idea and it wouldnt be the easiest to implement a fix but i do wonder if its the weight of the 03 on a linear axis to the cam which are technically on the same structure causing the jellow. If u could attach the 03 to the carbon plate instead u would have rubber grommets structuraly in between the au and the cam. Althought the extra weight on the fc would probally cause worse handling 🤔
    Just an idea and I'm probally talking out my bum, either way awesome footage and build sir

    • @xavierprimeto1752
      @xavierprimeto1752 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @andyk939
    @andyk939 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everyone wants to keep getting lighter and lighter but what I'm finding is 120g is a sweet spot and if you make it lighter you gain nothing as motors and the frame fight the wind using up exactly all the power saved from those extra grams you took off. Getting lighter feels like they fly WORSE. Way to much pushing by the wind. This might work indoor but definitely not outdoor.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To counter this argument, you can just add a lot more battery and gain a ton of flight time if you need to fight the wind. I plan to make another video about this aspect later.

    • @andyk939
      @andyk939 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbertKimTV yeah we tried that and it didn’t seem to matter. The extra battery weight didn’t translate into a significant increase in flight time.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@andyk939 That's strange, I even showed an example in this video going from 450mah to 550mah and I gained 20-30 seconds of flight time. I plan to cut off the tray and see how it does on 650mah, 750mah, and 850mah. I'll show how that testing goes. I'm certain there is a point of diminishing returns where the extra weight doesn't help anymore but to say "didn't seem to matter" makes no sense to me.

      @andyk939 ปีที่แล้ว

      This comment seems strange. When I take my GoPro off my 5 inch, I get more flight time and it feels like it flies a lot better.
