Thanks Rob and Ali. It's typical of Brisvegas to have appalling transport infrastructure to connect to the new cruise terminal. It's simply ages away from anywhere.

We had a great experience at brisbane cruise port. It is in the middle of no where but the staff were great and helpful

Thanks for the update. I was last there in November last year, and the coffee kiosk was so busy it ended up not worth the wait. So glad there's now a dedicated cafe.
For transport, you can also book transfers from the airport through "Con-x-ion" for AUD20 each. This was cheaper than 2 people in a taxi. I'm looking forward to my next cruise in a couple of weeks.

    Thanks Ali and Rob.
I do not know how long You have been in Brisbane or Australia, the cruise ships used to pull into the Hamilton wharves where Dock Side is now. When the First Gateway Bridge was built in the 80s the cruise ships moved to the container terminal [ South Bank } opposite where the Cruise Terminal is now on the North Bank. Because ships got bigger and bigger the move was made to keep them near the River Mouth because they were getting too big to turn around in the River further upstream.
In the 90s I remember driving a taxi out to the Q.E.2 which berthed at the container terminal at the Port and the comments from the passengers were not complimentary.
I suspect that there are plans to extend the cruise terminal to take more ship at the same time.
Just as aside. There is a thing called The Brisbane Bar, this is a solid shelf of granite at the entrance to the Brisbane River which for many years barred bigger ships from entering the Port of Brisbane upstream, it is located near the new terminal and they could only dredge 30 ctms off of it each year because of its hardness. I suspect they have done better more recently getting more depth there in recent years.
    Thank You.
    David.

BCC is looking into extending Citycat services to the cruise ship terminal. In addition BCC is responsible for road upgrades to the terminal. At the moment only the most basic road upgrades have been delivered

Really informative thanks. In terms of public transport they should make a permanent arrangement with BAC and TransLink to extend the terminal shuttle from Skygate DFO to the cruise terminal. The buses could run every 20 mins on cruise days. The bus could either be free of charge or a single zone charge that you can touch on and off with your credit card. It's a much nicer drive/ride from DFO than from Pinkenba as well.

Absolutely agree Andrew and it would be good to see some form of public transport. Skygate would be good as there is some great shopping there. Hopefully as things develop this will come.

Appreciated your tip about using the Wilson website rather than the App for earlier access to booking dates. Thank you.

Ahhh good....so if we ever cruise to Brissy we can catch up for coffee. At the moment we are sitting with 18 days to go before our fifth attempt to get to NZ from Sydney on Royal Princess....the other 4 were cancelled due to Covid. So hopefully we fly out of Perth in a little over two weeks.
Thanks for the update Rob and Allie!😊

Hi Rob & Ali , great video about the terminal and your helpful hints. I work there part time as passenger agent and have said “Hi” a couple of times when you’ve been on the Gangway or Security queue. It’s going to get busy come November as we will have P & O, Princess,Carnival,Royal Caribbean & 5 sailings for Disney. I’ll keep my eye out for you next time. 🤩

My check in opens TOMORROW! Quantum of the Seas leaving on 28th Nov to South Pacific. Looking forward to our 2nd cruise and our 1st on RC. Thankfully I booked my parking as soon as it was available to book.

They are called travelators! Or moving walkways. Booked for Dec on the Luminosa. Good advice about the wheelchair as I use crutches for arthritic hips. My sons will sure enjoy pushing me 😬

It’s such a pity that it gets the odour from the sewage plant nearby. We arrived back on friday morning 13/10/23 and the smell was horrible.

The EV charging is free. I plug in when we leave and it’s fine. Been lucky so far and always got an EV parking spot, but this won’t always be the case.

I was embarrassed to drive friends into Brisbane from the terminal built in the middle of a rundown industrial area. Even that walk to the carpark from the ship was terrible. Typical Queensland....

Cruising out of Brisbane, l have one word, ABYSMAL. Ok so half of it can’t be helped, the fact that we don’t have Europe just twenty miles away, bugger. However cruise companies could cruise more ports other than the pacific islands (done to death and boring) or Tasmania. How about more cruising around Australia, segmented into four parts , example Brisbane,Sydney Melbourne returns could be Eden and Newcastle. There was one once that l can recall. Next Brisbane Sydney Melbourne Adelaide. The top end is already up and running but there’s no harm in heading straight to Sydney then Adelaide for folk who love cruise days more than ports. Tassie is a great cruise, just make it worth it, Sydney stop only then circle Tasmania. Come on Cruise co’s jazz it up a bit, we have the room in Brissy for more ships, Sydney hasn’t. One last thing, our fares are between 40% and 70% above the USA and I’m sure statistics are going to be blamed for that, however l know there’s room to drop those by 30% if you wanted full ships.
