Our last train ride we too had a snorer - VERY LOUD - right behind us and a gentleman that apparently when they say 10:00 is quiet time, didn't understand. Talking on his phone in a loud voice. Finally said Sssshhh and he quieted down. Rest of our trip was in a Roomette. Sorry about your snorer.
Awesome video! Aussie here living in NYC, but get homesick watching these videos! Also, Coca Cola right before bed?! That would keep me up all night! hehehe
Good work. Love your non-spoken commentary it doesn't interfere with the viewing and gives one space to think and listen to the surrounding sounds of the environment which a spoken commentary would ruin. Very enjoyable and informative, you covered everything that needed to be covered.😀🙃
ditto couldnt have said it betta i live in cairns & just recently enquired about the train...did travel by train in 1989 buy they have the pods now....i dont have 2 winder about them now....i felt like i was travelling on the train with u.....many many thanks
Again thank-you Kuga for sharing your journeys, I remember traveling on a sleeper Brisbane to Cairns years ago with my wife, l have to say ;l prefer the cabins rather than sleeper chairs, especially with a noisy neighbor hehehe..Also a bit shaky at times remember to allways book your seat or sleeper...either in the middle or just off the center of the carriage...never over the wheels or near the door entry over the wheel sets is always noisy and shakes a lot....advice from an old Train Driver....regards Doc from Down Under in Australia
australia as a continent is amazing and so is its rail travel. though not yet high speed like euro nations, rail journey is a pleasant experience in its well appointed squeaky clean carriages while vibrant great landscape passes you by outside. very nice video covering the vast state of queensland, connecting its two key cities. every second, is worth your attention.
Great trip. Wait, the seating remind me about sleeper seat in my country, but yeah this one is bigger and can be transformed into bed very unique (folding the seat). I think the earbuds or headset can be replaced by Noise Cancelling Headphones. And something really appreciated is food is included.
So far there are two things I don't like. The open space in front of your legs and the place to put your phone. Both are open to the aisle and doesn't give much privacy. The seat opening up for the bed was cool.
As a Brisbanite I can say that while we can't compete with Asia or Europe in quality and speed of rail travel in Australia as a whole, the Spirit of Queensland is something we're proud of... until I saw that segment where everything started shaking violently. I'll just settle for not being able to compete with Asia and Europe 😂
You should be proud, this is a cool train,. When he was asking why they didn't have trains like that in Japan, I was thinking that I wished they had them here in the U.S. If we had them, I could easily see more people traveling by train.
Another nice video, Kuga! Maybe a good pair of noise cancelling headphones should be part of your future :) I have learned to sleep with mine on noisy long flights!
I've traveled on this train a few times but never the capsule sleeper...too expensive for a pensioner however the seating in the cheaper carriages are similar to business class...comfortable...reclines...have individual TV in the backrests USB ports etc...fold down table...fold out footrest. Access to showers and toilets...meals are not provided as part of the ticket but can be preordered and/or eaten in the club car...where other food items, snacks and drinks including alcohol can be purchased. The only complaint I have about the seating is that they are uncomfortable when trying to get sleep...but who complains when the pensioner concession allows a trip from Brisbane to Cairns for $45. I'd recommend the trip as it offers unparalleled viewing experiences...travel the entire east coast... subtropical to tropical...safe...easy going...economical.
This looks like the best long distance train in Australia. (I'm not counting the Indian Pacific or The Ghan, which only exist as "train cruises". For $390 it's competitive in price with the plane from Brisbane, and if you weren't in a rush the 25 hour journey would be fine. And rhe seat/bed is definitely comparable to airline business class. Bigger partitions would be nice and they should definitely include earplugs and sleep masks in the amenity kit. But to see a Japanese person envious of Australian rail facilities is very rare!
I agree, apart from "flying" at ground level, this seat pod configuration reminded me of a typical overnight airline flight in Business Class. Depending on the airline, the meal service was pretty similar too. I'm therefore surprised that some folks thought there should be more privacy? Unless you're used to paying for a 1st Class Emirates Airline ticket, you'll never get to take an in-flight shower and wander down to a 24hr cocktail lounge. Seemed like a pretty nice setup to me.
@@ColSnders The other recent innovation in train sleeping arrangements seems to be the "capsule" sleeping arrangements in some brand bew European trains, which offer complete privacy but are very cramped. I think I'd prefer this pod.
Oneway economy airfares from Brisbane to Cairns (2.5 hours flight time) when booked at least a week in advance cost between AU$100 and AU $250 depending on the airline. An economy train seat (25 hours) is $220 and a premium railbed is $390.
I always enjoy your videos. Particularly, no voice comment, no background music. So we can feel more absorb to the whole environment. Love your funny comments 😁❤ Keep up the good work. Hugzzz n Love from Bali ❤❤❤
Traveled on this train a few years ago. Absolutely loved it. There are 3 seats in each row instead of 4 in other Classes Carriages, the Sleeping pods are very comfortable to sit on and good enough to sleep in. I hope we can have the similar Sleeping pods carriages on the South Coast line to Melbourne too. These Sleeping Pods are well designed and can accommodate more passengers than sleeping Cabins. We did a return trip on the Queensland Coast. ❤
I think those were indeed bananas. Wonderful (unique) trip. I think maybe if they had a heavy curtain it would have kept the snore level tolerable for your sleep? Glad to see Club 7 loose in this crazy world, making some sense of it all.... ✌🤟
I took this train in the opposite direction in 2020 when I snuck off for a holiday between lockdowns! Flew up from Brisbane and trained it back, though in the regular seats as the railbed sold out. I really enjoyed the trip but the seat was very uncomfortable to try to sleep in overnight.Shame you missed Kuranda, it's a really beautiful journey up to the village, definitely a bucket list item! I'll be travelling out to Longreach in about 2 months time- again flying out, and getting a cabin on the Spirit of the Outback back to Brisbane. Really excited about this one!
Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey with you. I'm glad you shared it as I've only travelled between Melbourne and Adelaide on both the old sleeper many years ago, and in a twinnet. It looks really comfortable, and well worth the cost of the fare.
since im a solo traveler when i ride metra or amtrak trains i would prefer a solo room where i can relax and even have my breakfast lunch and dinner in the comfort of my private compartment without distractions but anyways awesome train run mr kuga san and ill always enjoy your train videos in your native japan (what is your hometown in japan) and europe🚄🚅🚆🌍🗾🏣🏯🎎. 🙏📿
Sadly The Sleeping Pod isn't big enough for many. Breakfast reminded me of what's served up on a school camp. At least the train looks more modern than the 45 year old XPT's
I really enjoyed coming along on your trip, I'm Australian by the way and I've travelled up and down on that stretch of railway line. I got really homesick for Rockhampton bcos I used to live there 😔 I feel like I'm getting itchy feet to go for a train ride again after watching this, 🚄 thank you 😊
This was an excellent presentation. Thank you. We are going to ride the Spirit of Queensland again, but we will try the rail beds this time. Thank you!
I'm really happy you were able to make it to Cairns, and it's a real shame that the Kuranda Rail was shut down due to the cyclone. It has now reopened and is taking passengers again so if you're lucky next time you will be able to enjoy it.
Good video. Not sure if you realised, but at 21:07 the train runs down the middle of a public street. I believe Denison Street is the only place in Australia where a regular passenger train runs down a public street like this. 🤔
U were very lucky to get a railbed, booked out continuously. I have just returned to Mackay and the railbeds were completely booked out both ways. The train in fact was completely booked on the return trip.
Wow, the Rail Bed looks cool. Not sure if I could handle the snoring, too light of a sleeper! The rest of it looks pretty amazing. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
the sad looking outlet man is typical british. I agree with you, this is a great way to travel. Just like some seats in Business Class on Airplanes. Super Video, thank you.
I’m new to your channel and have happily subscribed. I’m going to go through your older videos and enjoy some armchair travelling. Thank you for making and sharing these videos
Very interesting. The lst time I trained it to Cairns from Brissy, it was 1997 and the old Sunlander train was running. The trip was 3 days long. I did it three times and swore never again. I did get a sleeper as 2 nights sleeping in an economy seat was just not even in my thought process. Its almost worth the trip back up just to experience the train sleeper pods and 25hr trip. Plus Im amazed at how Cairns has grown from the sleepy country town I last saw.
Muchas gracias por compartir tus viajes, me inspirar mucho para organizar los míos. Espero seguir disfrutando de ellos. Ya tengo mi deseo para ir un Japón, especialmente por el silencio, confort y respeto que transmite n.
Awesome! You should visit Noosa in Queensland Australia, it's the most beautiful spot in Queensland, some say even in all of Australia if you like tropical scenery and beautiful beaches!
I am going on the Train 🚆 in July and count wait it will be my 2nd time on it I would recommend it to everyone to go on it once in their lives in New York it is so beautiful to look out the window and say all the changes update from bananas to sugar found it was wonderful and cannot wait to return on it

The sleeping pod looked really cozy, the monitor is a nice idea, and the food looked delicious. Thank you Kuga for taking us along with you again.
Yes, the trees near Cairns were bananas, with plastic bags over the fruit so it ripens faster. 😊
Queensland is so beautiful. Glad you got to see it
The train turning the lights on and off at set times reminded me of hospital.
Those sleeping pods looked VERY comfortable! Thank you for another enjoyable train ride, Kuga! 👍
Thank you so much Kuga! 手間をかけて素敵な動画を作っていただいてありがとうございま~す!次の投稿を待っています。気を付けてくださいね。 ❤
Awesome video! Aussie here living in NYC, but get homesick watching these videos! Also, Coca Cola right before bed?! That would keep me up all night! hehehe
How is the NYC subway? just wondering
Could be better! Stinky, delays, cancellations, kind of dangerous atm at some locations, but hey, it's still NYC :)
Very interesting sleeping arrangement. I think I would like a curtain for privacy though. Thanks for posting!
Me too.
I was thinking there would be an awning type thing to pull down to get some privacy 😊
Pity there’s no commentary, I find it boring without and didn’t finish watching
No different to most business class pods in an aircraft. Although that is starting to change.
Cabin thanks.
"Botto o wota" 🤣🤣. Good to see you've mastered the Aussie accent Kuga 👌
Such a shame your Kuranda trip was cancelled, it's a stunning ride 😢
I love how gentle and appreciative you are you don’t seem to take anything for granted and I like your sense of humour you’re funny 🤭🌼☀️
Really, really enjoyed this video. Thanks, as always, for sharing your adventures!

I'm glad that you were able to get out of that shower situation.

Economies of scale. No way we could compete. But when you compare populations to the sheer size of land, we do ok.
Another nice video, Kuga! Maybe a good pair of noise cancelling headphones should be part of your future :) I have learned to sleep with mine on noisy long flights!
Or ear plugs?
I love the sleepnow feature on my JBL earbuds. Noise cancelling and pure silence. Worthy investment.
I find it relaxing watching your videos. It gives me a break from everything, thank you mate.
Very, very nice! I really like this! Thank you so much for making time and effort to produce this! Thank you!
A different sleeping variant, should have included earplugs in the armenetic kit
From the glass display case in the cafe car, looks like they were at least available for sale?
That was a nice train - food looked good and the "pod" was a great idea.
Beautiful. I live here for 39 years now but don’t have any idea about this sleeping pod train. Thanks for sharing. 👍
This train looks very modern compared to other Australian long distance trains :)
I am yet to go on that train. I hope you enjoyed your time at my state of Sunny Queensland 😊
またケアンズに行きたくなりました。ありがとうございました🙂
Your videos are always entertaining and relaxing. Thank you for taking us along.
Always enjoy your commentary, Kuga 🙂

arrigato Kuga! This was great 🙂
Thanks for sharing your experience. I didn't intend on watching all, but your cute and amusing commentary got me. You're funny, enjoy your travels 🙂
Thanks for video. My friend and I will be travelling on this train later this year. Loved seeing this tour. And yes. They were banana trees. 🥰
I always enjoy your videos. Particularly, no voice comment, no background music. So we can feel more absorb to the whole environment. Love your funny comments 😁❤
Keep up the good work.
Hugzzz n Love from Bali ❤❤❤
Yes, banana trees :). I'm planning a train trip to Cairns with my dad and this has given me the exact information I needed, Thank you :)
Don't miss the botanical garden in Cairns.....better than the actual rain forest!
Cheers

Thanks Kuga for another great video and welcome back to Australia
Wow, I enjoyed the journey. ❤
Hmm - not sure a mobile dormitory would be for me. Fascinating video, though (and Kuga again samples different culinary delights😂)
What a great trip!!! And i Loved the 'sad looking outlet man" lol 😆
Those sleeping pods were amazing!!!
Thank you for the very interesting video! The seating/sleeping arrangement was pretty cool 😎 Hope you are able to continue with such fun content 🥳🌷👍
Thank you for an interesting video from Australia.
Good to see we have something of a modern train.
Great to see you visited my home state, beautiful place to live, great video I hope you had a great trip

Lovely ride in this beautiful train. The unique sleeping pod is very good. I’ve never been on it yet. Enjoy the rest of your travels in Australia 🇦🇺
Love it!!! It looks wonderful...full of character. I will definitely book ^^❤
U were very lucky to get a railbed, booked out continuously. I have just returned to Mackay and the railbeds were completely booked out both ways. The train in fact was completely booked on the return trip.
woo hoo!!! I live on the Gold Coast in QLD... about an hour south of Brisbane... I didnt even know this was a thing!!! Welcome to Queensland, Kuga!!!
Wow, the Rail Bed looks cool. Not sure if I could handle the snoring, too light of a sleeper! The rest of it looks pretty amazing. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
It is one of the best clips !!! Cheers ❤❤😮😮
When you're trying to sleep use the foam ear plugs, works wonders...
Amazing!
All your videos are superb and useful sir. Thank u and we are fans of you... 🎉❤

Botto of water sent me laughing 😆 An Aussie like us already, Kuga
Thank you for showing my home town through different eyes. It's a bit of a running joke in Rockhampton how the train cuts the city in half!
Love the video i wish i new earlier in my 30's this is my kind of traveling i like it thanks for showing us enjoy your stay be safe ❤

I love travelling at ground level, so I might have to consider this vs driving for a Bris to FNQ trip. Great video!
Muchas gracias por compartir tus viajes, me inspirar mucho para organizar los míos. Espero seguir disfrutando de ellos. Ya tengo mi deseo para ir un Japón, especialmente por el silencio, confort y respeto que transmite n.
I too would be a bad train passenger as I snore like a freight train...
Awesome! You should visit Noosa in Queensland Australia, it's the most beautiful spot in Queensland, some say even in all of Australia if you like tropical scenery and beautiful beaches!
No, as a close local, it's touristy and expensive.. Nice beaches and national park but that's about it to recommend.
Overrated
Looks like you slept in a semi private hospital room 😂. Bright lights, no privacy, snoring neighbour and stinky showers. Sounds like fun 🎉.
Haven't been here in a while...wow you are showing your face now? 🎉
Looks like a fun adventure 🚆 thanks for the video.
I am going on the Train 🚆 in July and count wait it will be my 2nd time on it I would recommend it to everyone to go on it once in their lives in New York it is so beautiful to look out the window and say all the changes update from bananas to sugar found it was wonderful and cannot wait to return on it
Awesome train, thanks for sharing.
Listening to someone snoring all night hahahaha.
Ive done this trip a few times but not in a sleeper.
1st trip had a guy next to me with a sleep apnoea machine at Caboolture ( the first stop 40 minutes in ) went to the galley and never returned to my seat.
2nd trip had a multiple snorers, went to the galley and stayed there.
Thank you for the video. Good to see and looks very comfortable….. besides the time factor I’d rather travel like this than flying
Very nice. Thank you.
I always bring snacks drinks and a puzzle book or magazines on my train rides. As a diabetic i need extra snacks and sometimes the train only gives you so much so between their snack and food schedule if i need to , i have it.
Thank you for a great video
@18:30 you state that the room smelled "kinda funky" which reminded me of my first crossing of the Nullarbor, Sydney to Perth, and the soap had in it formaldehyde, a smell I never got used to and hated ever since. Hope that is not still the case. Ten years alter I started a 34 year career as a paramedic and each trip to the mortuary reminded me of that train ! Did the same train trip (to Cairns) in 1968 but not in that comfort.
Rode this. Loved it. Should be on everyone’s list
Love your tour! ❤
omg had no idea we had a train like this in australia! So exciting. One day I would like to try it!
Very interesting and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. 🥰🥰
