I believe, according to recording engineer, Terry Manning, Jimmy picked up a Les Paul standard that wasn't his(?), plugged into a small no name amp and this solo is what he got!!...and yes, that's the man, Terry Manning that called it the greatest (blues?) solo ever.
@@bishlap correct, jimmy didnt even change any settings on the amp, he litterally picked up somebody elses guitar and played that off the cuff 1st go without changing anything!!!
Music like this is the reason why we had a stereo or record store on every other block and every department store had a TV/stereo department. The music sold the stereos! Hell, my first 2 paychecks from my first job went to buying my first home stereo system back in1977.
Jimmy Page- 1973 Song Remains the Same tour Jimmy Hendrix- Hey Joe, live, Monterey Pop Festival Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood, live at El Mocombo Edward Van Halen, Eruption, live, 1986 without a net These are greats.
Okay, I have to say it. I saw Led Zeppelin perform in 1970 in California. Best performance I ever saw. I'm old but this music - that was their poor British boy interpretation of American blues - is a brilliant tribute to what music can do to us.
I saw them in 1970 twice in concert and was pretty close to the stage. I was floored. I couldn't move, it was so intense. They were my & all my musician friends favorite band. We would put their albums on & blast it as loud as possible on speaker columns in the basement of my friend's house. We all were blown away. Still love them 52 years later...
Arguably the best blues/rock track of all-time! Led Zep has a huge rabbit hole to delve into. With very few exceptions, every track has something significant to offer.
Pay attention and you can hear the squeak of John Bonham's bass drum pedal. So happy to see younger people discovering Led Zeppelin. I would recommend starting with their first album and go from there on the Zepathon.
Thank you Z&Z for your appreciation of Led Zeppelin! I'm 63 and heard their music when it came out back in the day--they shook the world. I'm so glad that young-bloods are tuned in and turned on by Rock's most prolific and talented Classic Rock band.
Guys you're experiencing the most exceptional musicians that are Led Zeppelin. The planets or something in the universe must have been aligned when these 4 guys got together. People have ran out of superlatives to describe how amazing and diverse the music they produced. For me personally, there'll never be another band like them.THE GOAT without doubt ☘
if led Zep had never formed and all the members had eached joined different bands. They would be an asset to that band but they would never shake the world. But put them together and something magical happens. 4 virtuos,is. All on the same musical wavelength and vibing in perfect synch with each other it's almost telepathy
In 2001, as a young man, I went to work in a car factory in Japan as the lowest of grunts on the factory line. It was tough. Long gruelling hours of work. After a shift I would come back to my hostel, sit out on my 5th floor ledge and jam a live version of this song as the sun set. It’s a special song to me. Loved watching you experience it too.
This is the history of rock, Led Zeppelin rules classic rock! If you like this song, you will love it even better if you see them doing it live at Madison Square Gardens 1973. Looking forward to seeing you guys doing more. I usually subscribe after three Zepp tunes
If you are really going to venture down this bottomless pit of a rabbit hole, with rock music, then HAVE TO GET HEADPHONES. An absolute must. You guys are great and life will never be the same again lol.
Thanks for pulling the Led out! 🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥. I love it when people discover this legendary band. Liked and subscribed. 🌞 You’re going down a DEEP rabbit hole with these guys. THE GOATS of rock - rock/blues ‘cause every song they created is different. To this day, I cannot choose my top fav by these four. It’s IMPOSSIBLE and a miracle the four came together. When The Levee Breaks is awesome blues too. But PLEASE check them out live. They were rock GODS for a decade and there’s no faking LIVE. Best ones during their hiatus: The Song Remain The Same / The Rain Song (Live at Madison Square Gardens NY). It’s a sin not to listen to the two songs together in that performance. Shows why singer Robert Plant is a top rock frontman of all time. Dazed and Confused - Concert shows why Jimmy Page is one of the top rock guitarists of all times. In My Time of Dying - Again is why Jimmy Page is a top rock guitarist of all time. Stairway To Heaven - Most played rock song over the radio in history. The Ocean (Live at Madison Square) Moby Dick (Live) - Is why drummer John Bonham is arguably one of the top if not THE top rock drummers of all time. I vote him # ☝️. 😁 (RIP) Too many to mention really.
Wow this comment is so amazing!!! Thankyou so much for spending the time to watch and comment this, we appreciate you so much and will definitely take your knowledge to heart!
So awesome that your Zep journey began here. You oughta make this your first live Zep. But keep please doing more studio stuff by Zep. Love your reactions.
Definitely more Led Zeppelin please. You'll need to listen to some studio versions before you get to live because you just won't be able to handle their live performances
Now that you guys have headphones go back & listen to the live version of this one from MSG in 1973!! Pure fire 🔥❤️🔥🔥 I have been a fan of Zeppelin since first hearing them in 1969 🎤🎸♥️ You’ve barely scratched the surface 😉 You are in for a real treat!! Just subscribed so let’s go!!
Beautiful to see you guys loving Led Zeppelin; welcome to the club and fasten your seatbelt's, gentlemen, their music is an EPIC trip. I do advise using headphones while listening, an even better audio experience and chills that way. Try "When The Levee Breaks", "Whole Lotta Love", "Ramble On", "Misty Mountain Hop", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", "Ten Years Gone", "Dazed And Confused" - the album versions. Enjoy! 🔥
Subscribed to comment on how much I love seeing a new generation discover absolutely classic music. I highly suggest Kashmir the studio version with lyrics as your second venture into Led Zeppelin.
You guys gave me chills! Watching you discover a band I have loved for many many years is so much fun!! Led Zeppelin Kashmir is a must listen! You guys will probably recognize the riff as its been sampled many times!! Of course there really isn't a bad song by them! Much love and luck with the channel!❤ Subscribed & Liked 👍 😊
Thank you for this… my fave Zep song. Thank you for doing the album version. Their live stuff is amazing but I think you need to hear the album versions first to appreciate the live versions.
Very glad to see the younger generation discovering the greats. Please use headphones to get the most of the music. I would suggest giving a listen to more Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Queen. Just these bands alone provide literally days of music. There are so many other great bands also. So keep hands and feet inside and enjoy the ride. Excelsior
NO!! DO NOT do any live Led Zeppelin performances UNTIL you do the studio versions first. The reason is that the studio versions are the "definitive", polished, and produced versions that should be experienced first. The live versions are often improvisations and variations of the true versions, and they necessarily lack all the quality and production of a studio version. Once you've heard them, then you can appreciate and understand the differences in the various live performances.
Led Zeppelin played hard rock/heavy blues but they played other styles as well. The band was from the UK and had guitarist Jimmy Page; he also created the band and produced all their albums, singer Robert Plant who also played harmonica, bassist John Paul Jones who also played mandolin and keys, and drummer John Bonham. They started in 1968 and went until 1980 when John Bonham passed away. They do have some shorter songs, but most of them are a bit long (especially for modern times) so, if you're going to react to one, please take the time it takes to do it right - trust me, you will not be disappointed. Here's a link for a live performance of this song from 1973 at Madison Square Garden. th-cam.com/video/_ZiN_NqT-Us/w-d-xo.html
Been watching all of your reactions to Led Zeppelin and really enjoyed all of them. I finally found your first one. The one that hooked you to probably the best band in history. This song is epic. Check out the live one from Madison Square Garden 1973. You'll love it. I'm laughing at all of the posts about your speakers, using headphones, etc. LMAO. Yeah, I'd agree, but in the car is how most of us grew up listening to Zeppelin. Headphones do give them a whole new experience. Keep going with this, their catalog is really deep and you're gonna love it.
And just think, Robert Plant (vocalist) and drummer John Bonham were only 22 on this track and John Paul Jones, Bass and organ was 24 and Jimmy Page, guitarist was 26. Incredible.
Dear youngins...if you want a lot of subscribers, you'll do lots of Led Zeppelin. But first a suggestion...please make the sound quality better for not only yourselves but also for the listening audience. Once you do, the Led Zeppelin FAMILY will thank you and help your channel succeed. 👍❤🤙
I love watching you guys. You remind me of my brother Dylan, who died in 2008. He was a drummer - Bonham was one of his heroes. He used to sit me (his little sister) down, and play these songs, and he'd rock out and grin just like you guys do. Makes me so happy to watch your videos! Thanks...
You must react to this same song, Live….Madison Square Garden 1973. You will witness where the term, “Gods of Rock” came from. It is epic. Regardless of what you think of this studio version, watch it live. You also get to see the faces of the audience transfixed in disbelief.
Led Zeppelin are one of the best-selling music artists of all time; their total record sales are estimated to be between 200 to 300 million units worldwide. They achieved eight consecutive UK number-one albums and six number-one albums on the US Billboard 200, with five of their albums certified Diamond in the US. Rolling Stone magazine described them as "the heaviest band of all time", "the biggest band of the Seventies", and "unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history". They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995; the museum's biography of the band states that they were "as influential" during the 1970s as the Beatles were during the 1960s.
You HAVE to watch their live performance of this song, from Madison Square Garden in 1973. It's one of the best live performances of all-time! Tbh, Zeppelin are always unbelievably amazing live and they don't really have a bad song in their entire back catalogue, so you can't really go wrong with Zeppelin! Every one of their 9 studio albums went to number 1 in both the UK and the US, as well as dozens of other countries worldwide. The one exception was Led Zeppelin IV, which 'only' reached number 2 in the US. However it stayed in the charts for years and, ironically, became their biggest selling album in the US, despite being the only one not to make it to the number 1 spot! Their live album, 'The Song Remains the Same' also went to number 1 all over the place. They're the most sampled group in music history and are the 2nd biggest group in music history (after The Beatles) for very good reason! All 4 members are leading candidates for the title of GOAT, on their particular instrument/s and they are THE undisputed rock gods! The only other rock band that comes close, in terms of sales, talent, innovation and influence, is Pink Floyd. No one else is close! The Beatles, Zeppelin and Floyd are right at the top, in a mini league all of their own! You're listening to bona fide GIANTS, not just of modern popular music, but of music period! All 3 of these bands still outsell 99.9% of contemporary artists, today! :)
New subber. I love watching youth discover Led. I’m interested of the first song choice but I see y’all diggin it. Schools in session. It is time to get the led out. Can’t wait to see all your others. 👏
Have a look at the Live verion of this as recorded at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in 1973 to see how LZ really puts it down.Perhaps the best music video Ever!!
You mentioned in a later reaction your going to start doing some live versions. This song live from Madison Square Garden is a must. I mean it is epic and it almost feels like a completely different song yet the same.
Steve Vai - "Tender Surrender" , live version (dressed in black) A phenomenal guitarist and song that will make your mouth open , probably for a while. Thanks for your channel Z&Z
The 3 musicians and singer are all in the top 5 of their respective instruments in R&R history. John Bonham may have been the very best rock drummer ever, Jimmy Page on guitar is legendary.
check out some of Zeps other blues songs... Lemon song, Babe im ganna leave you, When the levee breaks, Im ganna crawl, Tea for one, You shook me, I cant quit you babe. No band does the Blues like Zeppelin (headphones is a must)
These 2 young lads might not be aware that it was their great grandfathers that oringinated this music. The great black bluesmen from the Delta. But you can tell they feel the blues. its in their DNA
As far as the " Genre" of Rock & Roll is concerned, i believe 1 word describes Zeppelin , more than any other band, and that is Eclectic, cuz these guys leave room for all influences of music consideration. Enjoy the ride !
Rolling Stones - Angie, Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’ and last, but possibly my favorite, You Can’t Always Get What You Want.
jimmy did this improvised guitar solo in 1 take 1st go! the engineer who recorded it said its the best solo he ever heard!

Yeah. No doubt. Without Bonham's kick moving your ass, it's not what it should be.
Easy.. they’re in SCHOOL , busy, and limited on time, space.. the “whole 9”. Besides, this was their FIRST time so chill yo!
RALMFAO...yep
Robert Plant's vocals should never be underestimated. The guitar and bassline are fantastic and Robert ties it all in.

Salute to anyone who saw them in 1970. I mean a big salute!
I saw them back then too, 1971 and 1972. Three-hour long sets with no breaks.
My first concert ever was Led Zep at Oakland Coliseum in 1977. I went Saturday, 1st of 2 days they played.
Released in 1970.........their music is timeless.

Black Dog and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Two awesome songs by Led.
love that this was your first Zep song
Zep are GOATs bro. There’s no doubt, “they do what they do and nobody does what they does.”
THANK YOU !
The 3 musicians and singer are all in the top 5 of their respective instruments in R&R history. John Bonham may have been the very best rock drummer ever, Jimmy Page on guitar is legendary.
that squeaking sound in the beginning is the drummer's bass drum pedal
Oh word? That’s dope, appreciate you! ✊
Definitely have much more to learn about them 😂

When you are listening to this song, you can hear the reel to reel squeaking as they record this song
Do the Led Zeppelin live concerts so Badass!
These 2 young lads might not be aware that it was their great grandfathers that oringinated this music. The great black bluesmen from the Delta. But you can tell they feel the blues. its in their DNA
This is great but their live versions go even harder. You should react to one of those!
As far as the " Genre" of Rock & Roll is concerned, i believe 1 word describes Zeppelin , more than any other band, and that is Eclectic, cuz these guys leave room for all influences of music consideration. Enjoy the ride !
must watch Live @ madison square garden '73
Rolling Stones - Angie, Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’ and last, but possibly my favorite, You Can’t Always Get What You Want.
Listen to the live version of this song from MSG in 1973
Jimmy is telling the whole story with this solo
