I want to add that Friedberg & Seltzer didn't write any thing for Scary Movie; they wrote a separate parody for Scream that was brought, only to be shelved. They did not contribute to Scary Movie in anyway.

It is hilarious to me the fact that the biggest selling point or “credibility” to these Friedberg/Seltzer Movie Movies was that they were “2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie” when they had nothing to do with Scary Movie and only received credit on the film because they wrote a similar horror movie parody that Miramax was developing before they decided to buy the Wayans’ script.

11:41 As a Hispanic myself, I can testify on this. Thing is, we have a taste for juvenile, bootleggy, ghetto flavored content, especially since the general way these movies are structured appeals to the edge Spanish humor has. We even have more of a tendency to laugh at the crap factor and treat it as part of the experience. Stuff like White Chicks and the Friday movies for example are HUGE for us, and considering those movies have an African-American audience as well, I think they overlap here as well. Most of these movies are still guilty pleasures of mine, even as a tough critic....except for The Starving Games. THAT movie is SO terrible even WE hated it.

These movies used to be fun even when they were terrible, but you could really tell by the end the creators weren't even trying anymore. Everyone hated Meet The Spartans, but that was the last one I actually got a few chuckles out of. Unlike most people, I'll usually sit all the way through a bad movie if for no other reason than to complete the experience, but their Hunger Games parody is one of the few movies I hated so much even I turned it off halfway through. At that point it felt like they produced the whole thing out of spite for their critics because they knew there was no future in it anyway.

But for the most part, it attempts to stick to the genre it's supposedly trying to make fun of. Granted it still inserts random shit in there like Napoleon Dynamite, King Kong, or Kill Bill, that have nothing to do with romantic films, but it's nowhere near as egregious compared to Epic Movie or Disaster Movie. I’m not defending the movies they made they are god awful and the worst movies for a reason but after the damning evidence from that video and the fact that Seltzerberg were inspired by the works of the Zuckers, Seltzerberg was more out in the open on what they were stealing from, while the Zuckers were more discreet on the stuff they stole.

I remember having interests in wanting see the movie it's theatrical run, but I didn't watch it until it hit TV. While I find the movie not fun to watch in it's entirety nowadays, I always get a laugh watching certain scenes and jokes online. I have a guilty pleasure for certain lowbrow jokes. The Hancock scene was commonly quoted by my brother and I growing up. 🤣

the only thing I actually kinda want if it still or exists is the Disaster Movie poster that's in the style of The Simpsons Movie poster. but, while I've seen the one poster mocking The Day After Tomorrow film. but, I've never seen both the one mocking The Simpsons Movie and 4th Indiana Jones movie, EVER. but, I would love it if I had Disaster Movie poster that's in the style of The Simpsons Movie poster at some point if there even is a actual touchable poster lying out there in the wild of that because if that does exist then I would kinda like it if I had it in my Teenage/Adult/Autistic like bedroom someday.

I saw this film on... I think it was on HBO? It feels like most who are familiar with this film caught it on TV and it's always the Calvin and The Chipmunks scene that gets brought up. Personally I remember laughing at that scene when I saw it with my sibling but I always hear how that part scared people especially kids.

These guys helped kill the spoof movie genre. If you want to do it right, pick one basic film and mock it. Airplane? Take plot of Zero Hour, add jokes, mix in a bit of Airport series. You got a hit. Top Secret? Bit of Elvis, mostly WW2 spy film. Great film. Hot Shots? Top Gun. Hot Shots Part Duex? Rambo 2 with other war films. You do one subject that is classic and evergreen and do that. Those are great still. These hack take 25 things cram it in a blender and nothing makes sense or is even remotely good.

And the movie has to be funny even if you haven't seen the things being referenced. Most fans of Airplane don't even know about Zero Hour, yet they still enjoy it.

I knew a couple that used to be extras for movies. They were extras for this movie for one day. They said it was real bad. They said everyone on set was getting mad with Kim Kardashian, because she couldn't remember any of her lines. Then there was a long break. After that break they realize most of Kim Kardashian's lines were given to other actors.

I was absolutely obsessed with parody movies as a child (me and my cousins watched Scary Movie 2-3 religiously) and I remember going through a ton of virus-ridden “free movie sites” to try and watch Disaster Movie (since my parents wouldn’t take me to see it). This movie, Date Movie and Epic Movie hold a special place in my heart (Meet The Spartans requires *a lot* more assistance 🍺 🍃 💨) with the the “Dating Matt Damon” song being one of my guilty pleasures
Ps. Also just recently found out about the bit from Jimmy Kimmel that the song was a “parody (cover)” of. Gotta say the movie version is superior

If I ever get experience with art or animation, I kind of want to make a fake trailer and/or poster that's a nostalgic parody/tribute to these kinds of films (the tribute part is mostly for Scary Movie since 1 & 3 are the best), but it's for adult cartoons, either being called "Adult Cartoon Movie" (since an artist already made their own fake poster making fun of these movies with the title "Cartoon Movie"), or maybe "Not Another Adult Cartoon" with the cartoons being whatever is relevant or still on the air currently (with the exception being Fritz the Cat who's the main character since I've recently been watching Ralph Bakshi's films and I wanted to include him, plus his movie kind of kickstarted adult cartoons which gives me another excuse to use him). The adult cartoons of note besides Fritz the Cat being: Smiling Friends, Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, Rick and Morty, Family Guy, Sausage Party and Beavis and Butthead. The fake poster would've been in the style of the Scary Movie series with the various characters in a movie theater with some sort of chaos going on. The fake trailer would of course have similar type of humor like slapstick, gross out, pop culture references (obviously), and even have the song "I'm You're Boogie Man" by KC & The Sunshine Band playing like the trailers for every film in the Scary Movie series. The fake plot would've done what Scary Movie did where it combines the plots of the main films they were spoofing (in this case, it's Fritz the Cat with a bit of some episodes of Smiling Friends, Hellaverse and later on Sausage Party: Foodtopia). Some ideas for scenes that I have in my head are for the trailer to open with Fritz parodying the classic opening to Saturday Night Fever with Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees playing and even Fritz doing Tobey Maquire's dance moves from Spiderman 3 that ends with some sort of slapstick punchline, Fritz's drug fueled chase being combined with that Verbalase 50K music video but Charlie just so happens to be on some sort of love potion while Fritz is chasing her (he also runs into a supermarket and briefly freaks out at the food being sentient), Fritz saying a particular homophobic line from The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat when he's shocked by Lucifer's goofy personality and rubber duck collection which causes everyone in the room to have their jaws drop with Fritz reacting with "what?", a reference to that scene from Smiling Friends where Mr. Boss and Oscar suddenly kiss after he says "Today I learned that all cultures are equal and there's no such thing as a bad culture," except it's with Alastor and he instantly pushes Mr. Boss to the ground since he's asexual and Allan saying "What? She started me," after kicking a Sausage Party character.
