    This is amazing! I just found out this year that watermelon can root along the vine. So I thought, 'Can you propegate it like a pothos?'
    Great to see you've done it 6 years ago. Way ahead of me. Lol This is my first year successfully growing watermelon.
    Thank you for sharing!

    Great🎉 I was shocked to find 1 growing in my front garden by accident in uk 😳 it must be from my compost. First time I saw a 🍉 plant I had to Google it & yt it. Do u let it grow as it is or tie it to stickes like runner beans?

    Mr. Khang, did you get any watermelons from your propagated vines in 2017? Have you tried with pumpkin or canteloup or do you think it might work as I have all three vines right now. Also is it true like a commenter says below that melon plants get old and there is need to start from seed anew? I was thinking conceivably that just taking cuttings or planting parts of the vine and propagating vegetatively could go on in succession forever as long as there was a healthy living plant to donate a sample to propagate...

      @KhangStarr  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes, I got 2 small melons from it. From my test, I find it's better to start from seeds. The melon quality seems to be better when grown from seeds.

    Interesting i am curious if this cutting technique works for any melon that you have in your garden to clone stuff. Also if you cannt uses the cuttings right away can you store cuttings for next year or long futures ahead. Or will cuttings just become unusable for regeneration . Those are the major question i am curious about with melons. (cantaloupe , honey dew ,watermelon ,...etc)

    By doing this, you know the quality will be the same plus save on seed cost for large volume growing.

    Was it good to trim your watermelon plant after it produced 2 melons. Did it help them to grow larger or did it slow it down? Id like to hear more about growing melons a d what you learned from your experiments.

    How long did it take for it to take off and start growing well after rooting

  • @harrysavageiii1864
    @harrysavageiii1864 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How long did it take you to get enough roots to transplant those cutting . To get decent roots . I bought two tiny ones from the store and they looked like they came straight out the flat and not growing . And I’ve been watering for a week . I hope I don’t have to cut the root off with a fresh cut. I just put on water yesterday I saw this video last week and I as been waiting for new growth then too . And finally I got some leaves but no root .a tendril or 2,. I think it might be at its first true leaves . There is like nothing there . I was surprised to see and yrhjfn fresh . We have had like 4 days of rain in a row and I barely got that growth . And I had it in the ground for a week before that . something is up . 2 weeks with 2 leaves in one plant . Not good . And these are planes not cuttings. They really should be straight . How long of it take u to get good roots

    What's going on with the watermelon plant you was doing in the growing tent under lights. Did it ever fruit?
    A week or so I took a few watermelon seeds and a few cut paper towels soaked in water in a lid from my bounty hydro seedling container and set it under the lights and they started germination lol. I'm going to get some rock wall and a water bottle then start them. That's why I was asking how the tent watermelon do?

    After separation from parent will the mellon be seedless?

    • @k12basic
      @k12basic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      99.9999% of the time, a cutting will have the same exact traits of the plant it was cut from. If the parent plant was seedless, the cutting should also be seedless rather it's heirloom or gmo. (Not an expert, take with gain of salt)

  • @kesavanrao9458

    How long is the first plant length????

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember exactly, but it was one of the vines that shoot out to the side. The parent was mature enough to produce flowers, so I believe it was pretty long.
