    In 2016, there were 20 MLB teams are 11 victories short of the extension of the Chicago Cubs's longest World Series drought without appearing in the postseason. For example, the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays were the American League East. The Detroit Tigers, the Chicago White Sox, the Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins were the American League Central. The Seattle Mariners, the Oakland Athletics, the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels were the American League West. The MIami Marlins, the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies were the National League East. The St. Louis Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Cincinnati Reds were the National League Central. And, the Colorado Rockies, the San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks were the National League West. Also, there were 4 MLB teams with 11 victories short of the extension of the Chicago Cub's longest World Series drought, which made the postseason. The Baltimore Orioles and the New York Mets appeared in the Wild Card Game while the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers appeared in the American League Division series, and neither one of the four won the game. The San Francisco Giants were 10 victories short of the extension of the Chicago Cub's longest World Series drought. They appeared in the NL Wild Card Game and NL Divisional Series. They beat the New York Mets 3-0 in the 2016 NL Wild Card Game and beat the Chicago Cubs in Game 3 of the 2016 NLDS against the Chicago Cubs before losing the series 3-1. The Washington Nationals were 9 victories short of the extension of the Chicago Cub's longest World Series drought. They beat the Los Angeles Dodgers twice before losing the series 3-2 in the 2016 NLDS. The Toronto Blue Jays were 7 victories short of the extension of the Chicago Cub's longest World Series drought. They appeared in the 2016 American League Wild Card game against the Baltimore Orioles and won. They also appeared in the 2016 American League Divisional Series against the Texas Rangers and swept them 3-0 before losing to Cleveland Indians 4-1 in the 2016 American League Championship series. The Los Angeles Dodgers were 6 victories short of the extension of the Chicago Cub's longest World Series drought. They appeared in the 2016 National League Divisional Series against the Washington Nationals and won the series 3-2. They appeared in the 2016 National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs but lost the series 4-2. And, finally, the Cleveland Indians, soon to be Guardians, were 1 victory short of the extension of the Chicago Cub's longest World Series drought. They appeared in the 2016 American League Divisional Series against the Boston Red Sox and swept them 3-0. They also appeared in the 2016 American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays and won the series 4-1. And, they appeared in the 2016 World Series against the Chicago Cubs before losing the series 4-3. To sum up, the Cleveland Indians, soon to be Guardians, was the closest approach without extended the Chicago Cubs longest World Series drought.
