Haha someone saw me playing it because PSN does that and they asked me what it was about. I basically was all er... I can't really tell you but you should give it a go
The coolest thing about 13 Sentinels is the battle mode tracks are all killer, and each of them transition to different phases of the song as new scripted waves show up. So with this song, that badass guitar section shows up when a huge wave of boss enemies show up, and get you ready to go. The story is totally impossible to describe without spoiling it, but yeah the battle themes are so good in the moment
13 Sentinels is a love letter to sci-fi, full stop. It's pretty much every sci-fi trope you can imagine, thrown into a blender, and somehow made into a coherent and massive plot split between 13 different protagonists, and you can hop between their stories at any time. So the first 90% or so of the song is a battle track, and the last, slower bit is a kind of remix/reprise that plays in the battle results screen. Each battle track has its own little slow results version afterwards. I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is one of the most energetic songs I've ever heard and you can bet I have it on heavy rotation. :D
My one complaint about it which I can say spoiler free is I wish the combat parts were actually harder. Maybe I've played too many games in that realm, but to S rank ones on hardest difficulty first go? Didn't detract from enjoyment, but it would've been nice to feel stakes a bit more.
@@riikka9842 I never had the sense of receiving damage. I think part of it had to do with weak/quiet indicators and the fact that there were just so many enemies on the screen, and it was never really obvious when you were being attacked.
@@riikka9842 At first having to swap out team members for maximum bonuses had me worried, but it really wasn't all that bad. I think I didn't run into problems until the last 3 "normal" missions. It was also hard to decide what to spend points on because it wasn't clear how much of an improvement they provided. I think some of those features don't have caps, plus there are more or less infinite missions after you clear the story ones.
13 Sentinels is a very hard game to recommend to people- not because it's not a good game (it's a fantastic game) but because it's nearly impossible to talk about any aspect of the game without potentially exposing people to massive spoilers. In terms of structure, the game has two halves: one half is a Visual Novel type story where you explore the plot through the perspective of thirteen different protagonists, while the other half is a strategic mecha combat game. What makes it unusual is that you're sort of supposed to alternate between going between both at different points, with various narrative walls that will block progression until you've met some criteria in some other part of the game. Because of this, while you can progress through certain parts of the story at your own pace, eventually you have to explore some other facet of the game, with the finale only unlocking once you've unlocked every character's story and seen the big picture. It's quite an experience, and I recommend *not* looking stuff up about it if you ever intend to play through it.
I like how I'm listening along and just smashing my head with the music, look over and you're doing the same exact thing XD This game has such good tracks, glad you got to go back to it
Cult classic, for sure. It didn’t come out too long ago, but it’s criminally underrated. Was my game of the year for 2020. Visuals, music, and writing are all fantastic.
13 sentinels is one of the best story experiences I've had in a game. And of course the music is great too. The songs you've reacted to are both battle themes, which are all amazing. There are a bunch of other songs that are more atmospheric or lighthearted to fit the moments of the story, and many of those are great too. Btw, the game is published by Sega/Atlus but it's made by Vanillaware. Their games all look great.
I'm glad you came back to 13 sentinels. I may be in minority since this is a very niche game, but I actually got introduced to your channel through your first 13 sentinels video.
This game and its OST have lived rent-free in my head since I played it. A weird and beautiful little masterpiece, flawed in a number of ways but shining brilliantly with passion for everything sci-fi. I adore it.
Yeah, love the music (And the game its self). The Title theme "13 Sentinels Aegis Rim Soundtrack - 01. Brat Overflow (Main Theme)" I would also recommend
Normally I write an essay about games I love but I'm just going to leave it at this. Damn this game is really something special. Top 5 games ever for me
Everything’s been said in this comment section already, I just want to say that either you or your subscribers who propose tracks (probably both) are people of immeasurable culture. Greatest games and tracks that you react to
I didnt play the game yet, but I heard this track before and its rock, is like the perfect theme for a Mech game. I was quite surprised to discover that Hitoshi Sakimoto compose this considering that most of the stuff I heard before from him have a very specific sound (FF Tactics/FF12/Dragon Quarter/Odin Sphere to name a few). Maybe the fact that his music company participate, as opose by only himself, might be the answer to that
This track is not composed by Sakimoto but by Yoshimi Kudo . He composed other track that sound different than his usual like the main theme Brat overflow or Seaside vacation, the track that sound the most like his style RIBOSE is also not composed by him . He barely composed for Odin sphere compare to this one , his Basiscape member is form to composed using his style and expand it , He technically Co Composed the track when he credit as music Producer and Director because people that work with him said he has pretty clear direction to each track in album . if you want more different sound . He has been experiment with alot of stuff like Lord of vermilion 2 , Gradius V and chaos dragon ...
I guess that makes more sense, I did a small search back when I first heard the track, but didnt go too specific, I remember seeing that was compose by music company that Sakimoto is the lead composer so I just thought he was direct involved
Posted this on the last 13 sentinels reaction but: All the titles of the battle themes in this game are named after amino acids (valine, isoleucine, leucine, tryptophan, etc) or the sugars that make up DNA and RNA (ribose and deoxyribose)
Will the day come when you finally shell out for some of these games and do gameplay reacts with callbacks to the songs you've reacted to? Thinking that would be cool. P.s. I love the bit at the 3:00 mark where the instrumentation drops out from the vocals and you're waiting for the other shoe to drop, because you just know it's gonna

A fantastic game. I bought it purely on a whim on its day of release as I recognised the thr art style. It was my my top 3 best games of 2020. I don't think it sold well, I don't think they did much advertising for it and that's because its so darn easy to spoil the plot. But I encourage you all to take a gamble on it.
It didn't sell well initially, but got a boost a bit later as more and more people praised it via word of mouth. It eventually did well enough to justify making a Switch port, so I think it can be considered a success.
Left field but youtube decided to autoplay that after this for zero reason other than you should react to it I guess. Jaldabaoth from Persona 5. Different vibe than most of that soundtrack
Welcome back to 13 Sentinels. We still can't tell you anything about it.
I thought the same, but I now think we can at least tell him it's good - at least as good as the music, and I mean...the music.
