      @@kettnercreative Question...
      Are you familiar with running multi audio interfaces simultanuosly within a DAW through the Aggregate option in your Audio MIDI Setup (Mac)? If so, will the MG10XU be detected as another "audio interface" through the Mac? I haven't had a chance to try it out myself, but I was wondering if you ever tried it.

    This mixing console is more than enough to make professional sounding music. It's that good. Super clean pre amps with great clean output and perfect USB recording ability.I would also recommend Behringer XR 18 for multi channel recording. It's my next purchase and it's compact as well.

    I love the MG12XU because it has faders, clear and bright on/off switches for each channel and it has an audition button for each channel so you can set the gain for each channel without raising the main volume to 0. And it has a more accurate volume meter with more notches. And it doesn't need an external power brick because it's built in and the panel is at a nice angle because it's tilted.

    I learned some valuable information here, thanks. However, what I was searching TH-cam for was for a different kind of multi-tracking. I want to record music adding one layer at a time, but I need to be able to hear the computer output in headphones without them recording them a second time. For the first track, I would need to be able to hear a click track. This would be best if I could have the headphones from the mixer so that the computer and its fan are at the other end of the room. I have not been able to work out or find out how to do this yet.

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can do that with the Yamaha. Press the USB button on channel 9/10. Leave the second button up on 9/10 and the click track will only come to your headphones.

    • @professorfether9338
      @professorfether9338 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "stereo pair via usb" that's a combined question.
      The usb will output a stereo signal no matter the inputs. If you pan the inputs, you can turn this mixer into a multi-track ...outputter, for lack of a better word (it's not a recorder) ...as in a 2 track recorder. However you pan the inputs will be sent via stereo out. This thing is a ...what...10? input device? 10 input 2 output. 10 in MIXER...2 output...left and right.

    Hey Hoss thank you. Question, can this work on Blue Yetis as well that I have goin into Yamaha via 1/4 cables ?

    Does the same approach apply if you were going to use a keyboard? I was not able to get the best audio output after recording a track following the manual. I also had high levels of hissing that could be heard through my headphones.

    Would this work if I have four mics connected or am I limited to just two?

    Just to make absolutely sure: The Yamaha has 4 XLR/line inputs and an extra 6 line only inputs. Is it then possible to plug in, for example, 4 mics in the XLRs and guitar and bass in 2 of the 6 line inputs and finally, two keyboards with stereo out to the additional 4 line ins, pan them all and have Garageband pick them up as 10 separate channels?

      From what I've understood: your DAW will always only pick up 2 incoming channels (Left + Right), and it is from the mixer that you'll define which physical channels are routed to OUT Left or OUT Right. But to be clear, incoming Left channel will be a single audio track made of the mix of everything you panned Left, and incoming Right channel will be a single audio track made of the mix of everything you panned Right. There's no way you can send more than 2 single tracks to your DAW, using these not-multitrack USB audio mixers (Yamaha, Mackie, Soundcraft, Behringer, etc.). Some recommend the Tascam multitrack range, or the Behringer UFX range.

    Thanks for all the helpful videos.
    I want to connect my iPad (lightning connection) to my MG10XU and then to my laptop to record with Audacity.
    What cable do I need to send music from the iPad to the mixer and where do I plug it in? Thanks!

      I would use a headphone to dual 1/4" jack. Something like this: geni.us/5aCz to go from your headphone jack into line 5/6 of your mixer.
