    After recording this video, FFG further clarified/reversed the Survival Technique ruling I discussed here. With that new information in mind, I'd drop the rating of the card down slightly to a 3.0 instead of 3.5

    I think Sentient Ravenous Myconid feels "broken" to me because I feel like Seekers SHOULD be afraid of the encounter deck, even if that isn't the case in the current cardpool. Its essentially turning encounter deck management into book tests without breaking tempo because uncanny growth can still pickup clues. You don't need to be on a zero shroud location to "exploit' it. Succeeding investigations by 1-3 is typically not difficult for seekers, so 1-3 shroud locations can be used pretty consistently without much thought or effort to break the card. It quite passively deals with encounter deck, as long as you can oversucceed.

    Cannot wait for you guys to cover the individual scenarios. Just played TLN (avoiding spoilers) with Hank, Willson and Kate, and was really sad to see that we didn’t have either of the two characters designed to dominate that scenario. Really loved how thematic that scenario was, but it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

      This was the scenario that I've seen the most (spoiler free) contention about online. I'm curious to play it. I'd rather have a scenario swing for the fences thematically, so I'm intrigued.

    Gabriel carillo is the best argument for dr milan to be tabooed to cost 1 xp in addition to the current one.

      @@DakonBlackblade2 considering how much good card draw seeker has, i'm not sure if a card is that much better then a resource. And the curse is detrimental in most decks, only a benefit in some.

  • @HellsFallenAngel1

    Ravenous Myconid "Sentient Strain" also stops surge
    Key of Solomon is an easy (4+). With Gabriel Carillo, you get +1 lore, +2 resources, and +1 card per turn. With Spirit of Humanity, it either nets 1 blessing per turn or 1 curse + 2 resources + heal for 1 & 1. And any of the already playable curse cards: Faustian Bargain, Deep Knowledge, Promise of Power, you're trading 1 hand slot for 2 resources per turn + curse removal. It shines in Parallel Rex, Parallel Daisy, and Kohaku.
    Hunting Jacket is here to smuggle pelts to the last turn, with good soak and resource generation.

    I think Dark Horse 5 might just make DH decks competitive again. I think Justin has a point that there were better ways to get extra stats, but this upgrade now makes it essentially effortless to set up. You can pretty much just mulligan for a Fire Axe and a Mariners Compass in your opening hand and go through a whole scenario with just those two cards.

    • @stephenball2108

      I agree, I feel like Dark Horse (whether it's a strategy you like or don't) is one of those defining cards where the decks that want it REALLY want it. I think having it as a permanent actually changes the face of the archetype, and potentially changes the cost curve of your deck.

  • @RolandBanksCorp

    I’m gonna be usin’ Blessed Blade and Flurry of Blows, mark my words.

  • @stephenball2108

    I think Dark Horse becoming a permanent does so much for the archetype. The fact that you know you have it from the start and it costs 0 actually changes the whole conception of your deck build and cost curve. I don't think it's as simple as just playing the exact same deck but now you have it to start. You can get up and running so quick, aggressively mulligan for your stronger pieces. Before with Dark Horse it was like, "well, I have to find my Dark Horse, and now I spend the 3 for it which gets me closer to the 0 I need to turn it on". With it as a permanent it's more "I mulliganed into a 4 cost ally and a Fire Axe, now my board is more set up than ever before when playing Dark Horse and I'm online". I mean, it may not be the top tier strategy, but it's one of the cards I think gets helped the most by being a permanent.

    • @PlayingBoardGames

      What I'm saying is that it doesn't do much to expand the Dark Horse strategy is because it actually isn't getting any new pieces to the puzzle. It makes it more consistent, but the reality is that Dark Horse itself isn't the best part of the Dark Horse strategy, it's the Axe and Compass.

    • @stephenball2108

      @@PlayingBoardGames I would agree. It doesn’t add much new, but I do think consistency was one of the biggest downsides of the archetype. Again, I know it’s not the most powerful strategy we have, but I appreciate the inclusion. As a person who still likes to dust off his Ashcan Pete deck often I’d be happy to spend the experience on this.

    • @PlayingBoardGames

      @@stephenball2108 I would too, and luckily Dark Horse decks have always been very low to the ground on XP, which means that it'll be easy to get into the deck quickly.

    • @stephenball2108

      @@PlayingBoardGames Absolutely. The decks that want it really want it, so guaranteeing it from turn 0 is huge for them. Yeah, not exactly a ton of XP getting fought over. I had to build a goon deck for an expert run of Dunich and thought I would build a Miracle Wish Zoey deck. First time I used it was x=1 just to ensure I pass my next fight action with +1 damage. I felt really smart until I drew the autofail causing us to lose the scenario. "In addition to all other tokens" is a huge let down.

    That definition of "then" that says it has to be resolved in full
    Couldn't it mean, that it must be resolved completely? So in full as fully and THEN you do the other stuff?
    English is not my first language but I think the syntaxes check out doesn't it?

    • @PlayingBoardGames

      In Arkham, the "Then," rule states that in order to do the effect after the "Then," you need to do *everything* before it. So it goes beyond normal syntax and gets into the rules speak.

    Hand-eye Coordination - It doesn't use ammo right? Spend one ammo is part of cost of the action. The card says you perform the action without paying its cost. Am I wrong on this?

    • @willkramer9717
