Exactly! Why can’t we just appreciate him as the GREATEST Muay Thai fighter?!?🤷🏾♂️ One of the things I enjoyed about Martial arts and MMA is the sportsmanship. The goals for me was to maintain my health, learn self-defense and build bridges with people from a variety of cultures.
@@TejayListerNot all small asian men could punch, kick, knee and elbow the absolute fuck out of you and also do it with style and ease. He is extraordinary.
@v0lta321 they even tell you at the seminar to leave your ego out of it. Be respectful and no head contact but some people want to be the one to be a smart ass. And you only get picked to sparr if you show good technique and control .
I was thinking the same, it had to thrown at a fast speed bc the window between holding the legs and the shoulders opening vs closing is small so he had to make sure the timing was correct but it definitely wasn’t a haymaker or a fight punch. More like I respect your level, let me show you how different our levels are.
There's a big difference, though: in boxing sparring you use only the gloved hands so you can do it stronger, in Muay Thai you can't go too much, it's more violent; one time I did a very slow spinning elbow in MT sparring and I was immediately told I can't do that !! 😅 I felt bad, I was so sorry. But sparring with restraints actually teaches you a lot, you can concentrate on technique more and being very accurate and timing. I love to spar with my fiancée, teaching her MT, cause if I touch her I have to just boop her slightly on the nose or be very gentle so it teaches me a lot about accuracy and timing and restraint, it's very important.

You can tell he is having fun with him and leaving opportunities for the student to try to take advantage of. He would never prematurely reach out for a leg catch if he was serious, for example. He is not just a great fighter but his coaching is also top notch!
Small asian man? He is the most technical Muay Thai fighter in the world now with 43 years old. He is a living legend. He won vs people with more weight and height. With more than 300 wins. The GOAT of the GOAT's in the 21st century. No more talking here
Saenchai effortlessly countered every single strike attempt this guy made. Such an impressive display of skill. I need to go find some fights where he is going all out.
Moving and bouncing makes you more agile and elusive, take less damage by evading punches, give more power by changing angles and giving more rotation. Muay Thai rely more on conditioning the body to be more durable. They as a result end up taking more hits. The distinction is whether you build up your body's defence so much that tanking hits is the better option.
@Un1234l You waste more energy bouncing. That's also a myth. A lot of top thai fighters dont ake much damage. Saenchai here doesn't take much damage but moves less than Western fighters. It's about fully understanding your range. Excess bouncing actually makes it easier to get swept. You will notice he does that often to these guys.
@@chris2489001 No. That's the difference between boxing and muay thai. Boxers are more agile for a reason in their sport. Muay Thai aren't for a reason in their sport

That wasnt a haymaker. Watch the whole clip he telegraphs the overhand multiple times and guy doesn't respect it. Adds a little power behind it (nothing crazy) and boom lesson learned. Perfect sparring, no one hurt, had fun, learned something
